Island West Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2016Nice Course Under Repair
Surprisingly challenging for a Low Country residential course. The fairways were in great shape, yet the greens were well below par. However, the staff was honest up front about the improvements underway. When greens are full grown this will be an excellent course. I will play again next time I am back in the Low Country.
The Landing at Pleasant Point
Played On 05/15/2016Leisurely Round with Wildlife
Scenic marshes with lots of opportunities to see Low Country wildlife. Staff friendly with a number of water hazards. Early season play found short, dry fairways with greens in good, playable shape.
Pinecrest Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2015Good Low Country Golf
Course is in great shape and enjoys frequent play by locals and visitors. Staff friendly. Greens and fairways exceptional. Pace of play had 4 groups stacked up on more than one hole (ours was the third). Could use a marshal to keep things moving. All in all, we played in four hours, though is could have been much closer to three.
I would recommend this course for its scenic waters and marshes. It is quite open with wide fairways. However, shot placement is the key to staying out of trouble. Lots of fairway bunkers and water to play with.
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/21/2015Good day at nice course
Even though I saw a couple of negative reviews, I went to Rose Hill anyway because of a super saver rate. Man, am I glad I did! The course was well groomed with short, fast fairways. The teeing grounds are in excellent condition. Greens were obviously being fertilized, but they were in good, playable shape. There were very few people on the course making the pace of play very fast. - only two hours and forty-five minutes. I would not consider Rose Hill an exceptionally challenging course, however there is plenty of scenic water to lose balls in. I believe seniors and beginners would enjoy Rose Hill. All in all it was a good value.
Meadowbrook Golf Course
Played On 05/11/2015Purely a "Pitch and Putt," yet it has it's place
Municipal course. This is a really short course designed for the executive or someone wanting to walk a few holes on their way home. I took my boys there (7 & 10 yrs old) and they had a blast. Longest hole is about 270 yards. I would recommend it for a quick round, or a replacement for working on your short game at a driving range, or for helping a kid learn to like the game on a course short enough for them to be successful.
Hanging Rock Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2015Got to play "The Rock"!
If you are in or passing through the Roanoke Valley you should stop and take a round at Hanging Rock. It is a beautiful, well maintained course with elevation, water, slope, and fairway challenges. Many find the fairways to be narrow, and straight shots are rewarded. There may be courses in the area that are kept as good as The Rock, but none better. Stop by and enjoy when you get the chance!
EGEvans,
Thank you so much for the kind words and the review. We hope to see you on the course some time soon!
Elizabethton Municipal Golf Course
Played On 08/03/2013Extremely Nice Municipal Course
EGC has been around for many years and is a well kept, deceptively difficult course. It is a mountain side course, complete with water hazards, heavily slopping fairways, elevated and undulating greens. I enjoy playing this course whenever I get the chance with friends who live in the area. Price is extremely reasonable, and course is kept in great playing condition. The course is quite scenic, as it is nestled among the Appalachian mountains.
Please send me an email as to what and when the improvements will be..
