good East Dallas Golf

Course is alays crowded so expect 4:30h time of play. Challenging course with sand traps, water and dog legs. Overall greens and Fairways are in good shape.

Room For Improvement

The course recently reopened after it was idle for a few years due to the Country Club management running it into bankruptcy.

The layout of the course is very nice. One can tell that this was a CC course in the past. Fairways are well maintained, narrow and the greens were generally green and playable. Like any public course in Dallas, it needs rain. Some areas around the greens were just dirt. This is certainly not a walking course because the distances between some of the holes are furred apart (street crossings) and would slow down the pace of play to get to w/o a cart.

The course itself has bunkers, water, fairways that are separated by creeks, so it can be challenging. I shot a 107 which is right at my usual range of 103-106. Normally, I play Tenison Glen. For the current fees, one cannot go wrong with this course.

Pace of play was held up because of a larger group two holes ahead. Maybe this can be monitored a bit better going forward.

Facilities: they seem to have not been used in years. If management can get the traffic going on this course and generates the cash flow to invest in modernizing some of the interior, this could be a sparkling place.

All in all, the course has great potential once the money is flowing and upgrades can be made. Keep it up.

Great value for the Money

The course being 50 miles from my BlackBerry, I won't play there often, but you can't beat the price. $16 for 18 holes including a cart. Normally cart fees are $15 alone at Dallas Golf courses. The fairways were relatively good, occasionally you hit a brown patch but the greens are a beauty. The greens play somewhat on the fast side and the ball breaks very closely to the read of the green. The course has some nice par 5s over 500 yards and a few shorter par 3s between 130 and 180 yards (white tees). We were able to finish the first 9 in about 90 minutes and the whole course in a bit more than 3 1/2 hours.
