LPGA International - Jones Course
Played On 05/17/2018nice place
It rained buckets the night before, so it was cart path only, but thats not LPGA'S fault. We had to walk some extra, took us 4 hours instead of our normal 3-3 1/2, but even in these conditions the place was really fun. Greens and fairways would have been excellent if it hadn't have been so wet in spots. Again, not their fault .Beautiful, even on a cloudy/rainy day. Staff was very friendly and the snack bar area afterwards was very good. ( I think they have an actual chef here). A little more expensive than your usual place but even us hackers felt special here. If prices stay lower this summer we'll definitely be back.

Our group likes to play mornings and in most cases thats not a problem. BUT this is about the third time we've played here and regardless if you have t-time or not, if some of the "members" want to play they just jump in front of you and you wait. To add insult to injury, they act like they own the place, and they probably do, so...they take their sweet time and you're in for 5 plus hours. Hope you got all day. We're going to try afternoons next time and see if that works better.

Played On 03/06/2018Not the same as it was
Don't know whats going on at Vic Hills but they totally eliminated the pro shop and made more dining room area like thats more important. Seriously, the "pro shop" is a little 8x6 corner by the bar with 6 shirts hanging on a rack and 2 different kinds of golf balls for sale. They have bulldozed the whole back 9 and put in more houses 6 feet apart. The place looks like a war zone. Gone are the fox squirrels, deer and other wildlife. Beautiful long leaf pines and oaks are gone. Huge piles of dirt and the sound of back-up beepers from heavy equipment have invaded the once pristine landscape. I say goodbye to an old friend I loved for years. Good bye Victoria...

Played On 03/01/2018you're next up....?
Good day playing, but we were told to go right away to the 1st tee because we were next up, so we skipped practice,(we were 25 minutes early), got to 1st tee and 3 groups were in the fairway and another was waiting on the t-box....dont know what the big rush was all about. We waited there 15 minutes. Once you get going here its a nice course, but sometimes the start times are hurried/rushed and its kind of a chinese fire drill method of spacing out times between groups. Course was in pretty good shape for March 1st. Summertime is way better. Not so rushed.

Played On 03/01/2018Can't wait till spring
We get a lot of visitors in the winter which tend to tie up the flow of the game. Also their playing techniques are...shall we say... different. No use gripeing about it, spring will be here soon enough....lol This course has always been a good deal for the money IMHO. It has a lot of rolling hill type fairways. Like any course, once you've played here a few times, you figure out where all the short-cuts are, and when to lay up. Some say the clubhouse leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm here for the golf and a cool drink afterward , not to critique the bathrooms.

Played On 02/06/2018Had a fairly good time
This time of year(2/18) is always a busy time for golf courses in Fla. Our northern neighbors are here to escape the cold and most of the time everyone is happy. We do get some on occasion that haven't played in a while or maybe never, and we must be patient. Please keep in mind to keep pace with the group in front of you and do not park your cart on the green. Also, its o.k. to tee off when you are on a par 5 and the group ahead of you is 500 yards away..! You don't have to wait until they clear the green. We actually had a ranger come by on the 12th and asked if everything was o.k. Yes and thanks for asking.

Its that time of year when we are besieged by northerners and its a different kind of play. People on a 450 yard par 5 wait until the green is cleared before they tee off. They drive the carts right up to and practically on the green itself. There are no rules as to where to keep the cart off of. There is no such thing as "keep pace with the group in front of you", or "allow faster players to play through". Can't wait for spring!

Got behind some northern friends and the round took almost 5 hours...no ranger anywhere.

Played On 01/25/2018OVERBOOKING AGAIN
Of all the places we play in central Fla., Deltona is the worst for letting people just show up and head straight for the first tee. Nobody knows who has what tee time, just get out there and start swinging. Seems to be worse in the fall and winter. Our northern "friends" ride right up to the green in the cart, run over boundary markers, and mow down the stakes that try to keep you in the cart path. We had a t-time for 10:38 and 6 guys just show up at 10:34 and just butt in front like this is how its done...Can't wait till summer......
Mayfair Country Club
Played On 12/05/2017old course
Mayfair has been around forever and I suspect some respect is due here. The course has a good layout but is somewhat run-down especially since the hurricanes. Still some trees down, the net between the parking lot and driving range is still in disrepair, cart paths are well, non-existant at times. I understand the course is now owned by the city of Sanford, so I suspect they are waiting on new budget money. Nice little place if it were taken care of properly.
Deltona Club
Played On 11/14/2017nice alternative
Deltona is always in fairly good shape but they have a tendency to over-book during the winter/snowbird months. I guess they can't just say no....lol.I would call the course semi-links type . Pretty open yet trees in some areas. Never seen it too wet here, drains quickly and this time of year you get a nice roll from the driver. Fairways are short grass and fast. Our group comes here about once every 6 weeks in our rotation. Not bad at all for the money.
Eagle Dunes Golf Club
Played On 11/07/2017nice links style
This place can be a little crowed at times but the last time everyone was aware of the pace of play and things went quite smoothly. Fairways are drying out this time of year and a little on the hard side which is great for that extra 30 yards of roll...lol. We play here at least once every 6 weeks and its a big part of our regular rotation. One of our favorites.Elevation changes are a nice change from the regular flat courses.
Deltona Club
Played On 10/19/2017always a safe bet
Deltona always drains well even after a hurricane. Course has a lot of waste bunkers instead of sand traps which is easier maintenance and you can ground your club! Course has/had a tendency to over book sometimes in the winter but haven't seen that lately. I recall a time a few years back when 3 different groups had the same T-time! Somebody tell Peggy the palm trees out front need some attention, like Maganese, Magnesium, and some trace elements. They're looking kinda anemic.....lol. Course is most always in pretty decent shape. We play there about once every 5 weeks.
Victoria Hills Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2017used to be nicer
Club house and restaurant are closed for repairs for the next few months...have to pay for the round at the snack bar...no kidding! Much of the beautiful woods integrated throughout the property have been recently bulldozed in order to make room for new housing. I guess thats progress but the course is not nearly as pretty as it once was.
The Club at Venetian Bay
Played On 10/10/2017smooth sailing
This place has a tendency to get real wet real fast due to the fact that its in a low lying area. But when its dried out, it plays really nice. Fall and winter are the best times around here........nice restaurant/club house
DeBary Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/05/2017water logged
Went just after hurricanes and other wet weather situations in following weeks...course is pretty much very wet in about 33% of the holes...This course does not take a lot of water easily, pools and ponds everywhere. Just the location I presume. Low lying area. When its dry its not bad at all. Will return in the fall when it dries out
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2017practice course
This is the course we use to practice cause its cheap. Fairways are really bumpy, hold on to your hat. Greens are pretty good considering. We nicknamed 10,11, and 12-"the snake pit"...getting through here without getting bit- only 3 over, is pretty good.
DeBary Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/22/2017for straight hitters
Did I walk?? Who walks,??? Debary has narrow fairways for the most part and thick rough. If you hit off course, you will lose your ball but find 3 others....lol Greens this time were fairly consistent, not too fast. Sometimes too slow play but today was good. Guess members started on the back this time.Great club house and food for afters. Seems driving range is always closed when we play but can still chip and putt. `Pretty nice place. Prone to flooding if you get a lot of rain there.

Played On 08/22/2017Oh, by the way.......
Got an e-mail that this place was 29 bucks, all you can play plus lunch...should have known something was up. Got there hardly anyone in the parking lot...Hmmmm.AFTER we pay -find out the back nine is closed for some kind of repairs, had to play front nine twice Had to drive 45 minutes to get here.. Why can't they just be up front about it? its a nice place when you can play all 18. Don't appreciate the covering up the truth. could have told us when we made reservation. This is the second time they've pulled a fast one, 3 strikes and I'm done!
I am sorry you feel that this was somehow targeting you. We were verticutting the front nine which as any avid golfer will tell you is necessary to keep the course in great shape.
Unfortunately one of our machines broke before the first tee time, we had no idea how long it would be to repair or be able to realistically contact everyone that had a tee time that day. Our online deal is 29 with lunch, it wasn't because of the maintenance. Please come out again and see how happy the greens are to be verticut, enjoy the same rate you had when you were disappointed with us this time.
