The Challenge Golf Club
Played On 03/24/2019Fun Time
When the new greens get cut, this will be a fun course to play. Layout is good, and greens are large. New bermuda greens look like they came in great - they are just a bit long and slow right now. Challenging course with multiple tee boxes - although some of them are lacking any grass at all right now.

Played On 11/03/2018Tough greens!
Course is in great shape. Greens were great, but I found them extremely difficult to read and putt on. Lots of undulations, large greens, being unfamiliar with where to putt the ball - all made for a lot of 3 putts and worse. But that’s on me, and not the course. Get out and play this course - each hole is different, and you will hit most of the clubs in your bag.

Have not played here since they changed to Bermuda greens - was pleasantly surprised at the overall condition of the course and the pace-of-play.. Greens were great to putt on, fairways were lush. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was packed - there were still people teeing off when I finished my round in late afternoon. Driving range not the biggest and best, but it serves its purpose. Some easier holes, and some really tough holes. Lots of elevation changes. Get out and play!!

Course is in great shape - greens are still some of the best around. Keep fixing your ball marks!!! Starting to replace some of the cart paths. Staff is friendly, snack bar is great, and the value is there. Stay out of the rough ( Phil! ) - it is high and it is a killer.

Greens and fairways are in great shape. Pace of play - for a Sunday morning - was good. Good time to go play this course!
Riverwood Golf Club - Deer Run/Riverview Course
Played On 08/05/2018Great greens!
Continues to have some of the best greens in the area. Enjoyable round - could only have been made better by having a ranger to hurry along the slow group in front of us.
The Neuse Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2018Course in great shape!!!
The best greens I have played on in a while. Overall course conditions were very good - a few tee boxes are a bit bare of grass. Good place to go play right now.
Mother Nature has not been kind....
Started off badly when I paid $9 for a Gatorade and range balls, and the range balls were the worst range balls I have ever hit. These were balls that you would toss back into the woods if you found them.
Course has tons of water that comes in to play. Not a bad thing, but you need to know where the water is. No 2 holes the same. Very tight course. Not long. No need to hit driver on every hole. Premium on hitting the ball straight, and knowing where to hit it. Course drained well after the recent rain. At least 6 of the greens had large ( some very large ) burned out spots on them - putting over/around these was ridiculous. Overall course conditions were good, but this many un-puttable greens ruined the day for me. Pace of play was good - 4 hours - people were friendly, but it looks as though they need to put some money back into the course in order to keep people playing there.

As long as these greens are in this good of shape, I will continue to play there, These greens are in GREAT shape! Where else in the Triangle can you spend under $40 and get to play on greens this good??? Continue to fix your ball marks, rake the traps, and play here as long as these great conditions exist.

Played On 03/10/2018Fantastic Greens!!!
I was thrilled to putt on greens this good - speed was consistent and the rolls was great. And it is only Mid-March. Get out and play here while the greens are in this good of shape. Kudos to the greens keeper and grounds crew!!!!

Played On 03/04/2018Excited about new greens!!
This was the first time I have played there since they redid the greens - I was very happy to see that they appear to be coming in great. This is a fun course to play - the addition of good Bermuda greens is only going to add to the enjoyment. Go play this course if you get a chance.
Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 11/25/2017great greens still!
Always a pleasure to play Lochmere when it is in decent shape. Right now, the greens are still in good shape, the rough is tall, and the fairways are firm. Aside from the course management niceties that get missed when you have a lot of novice golfers playing ( sandtraps unraked, ball marks not fixed, etc ), this is a fun course to walk and play. AND, they have some awesome deals on merchandise in the pro shop.

Played On 11/18/2017Enjoyable Walk
I always look forward to playing here as it is an ok course to walk, and it is usually in good shape. Right now, the greens are faster than I have ever seen them. Some pin locations made it impossible to hole a putt. Maybe that is why the round took a little longer than expected? Like any other course where a lot of " new golfers " play, course upkeep is a problem. Traps are not getting raked, and I fixed at least 4 ballmarks per hole. To be expected, but sad. There was a ranger/cart person riding around. All employees were very friendly - saw a lot of new faces. Hot dog was great! I have yet to see any big impact from McConnells ( sp? ) investment money, but always an enjoyable place to play.
Wil-Mar Golf Club
Played On 10/22/2017Tough Greens!
Course is in great shape - especially considering how much play it gets. Greens are really nice - and were difficult for me to read. Quite a bit of break in some short putts - lots of undulations on some smallish greens. Rough is tall - beware. Course would be in much better shape if everyone learned to fix their ball marks, fill in their divots, and rake the traps. There were plenty of rakes available - I don't understand how you can mess up a trap and then just walk away from it. Excellent food at the turn. Nice staff. Range balls had some pretty old, faded rocks thrown in. Great value for the money.
Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 10/15/2017Great course conditions!
These greens are perfect right now - get out there while you can! The whole course was in great shape. For some odd reason, the course was empty, so we motored around in just about 4 hours. The driving range spits out too many golf balls - which is a rare complaint. It is truly a LARGE bucket. Practice facilities are great. I have nothing but good things to say about my recent experience there. At regular rack rates of $39, this place is a value - if you get to play for even less via golfnow, you will be even happier. I played for a little bit more than $1.00 per HOLE - what a value!

Played On 09/30/2017Still the best greens around
The rough is getting taller, but the greens are in great shape. Fairways are in good shape too. Great walking course. Course was packed, and it took us 5 hours to play. That is my only concern - would be nice to play quicker and maintain some rhythm. Good snack bar, great range and putting green.
Talamore Golf Resort
Played On 09/03/2017Great new greens!
This Champion bermuda grass that is being used on greens is perfect! The greens here are large, undulating, and quick - quite a challenge if you are in the wrong spot on the green. Once they soften up some, they will hold approach shots better, but it is tough to complain about greens this nice. Enjoyed looking at the new pot bunkers, but I managed to stay out of them. Pace of play was on the slow side - no marshall or cart lady on a Sunday?? Course is in great shape. Pricey, but worth it.

Have played this course twice now - it is a terrific and challenging layout. I am a walker and enjoy that - I was the 1st t-time off and never saw another person. Play this great layout now before they try to ruin it by building houses nearby. Some holes are long and hard, but then there are some short and easier holes to balance them out. Greens were just aerated last week, but still roll nicely. Scenery is great, watched hawks soaring overhead, love the primitive/isolated feel you get playing here. Don't go here expecting resort-style off-course amenities - just go for a great round of golf out in the woods.

This is a great layout and right now the course is in great shape. Guy in the clubhouse was very friendly, starter was great and knowledgeable, and we saw many rangers on the course trying to keep things moving along. It was an enjoyable round. Some really difficult holes, like #18. Great par 3's. Was disappointed to see so many new houses on the front side - would prefer not to see them while I am golfing. Back nine still has an isolated feel. Definitely worth the money and I will be going back soon.

Played On 08/19/2017Challenging
Played this course for the 1st time. Greens and fairways and sand traps are in excellent shape. Greens are still a bit firm, but they are fast and true. Do not go over the green as you will be penalized. Course seemed to play longer to me. Now that I have played it once, I will be better prepared with my aiming next time around. Great range. Course was packed solid, so pace of play was kinda slow - 5 hour round. Play this course right now as course conditions cannot get much better.
