Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course
Played On 07/07/2020Be warned! GolfNow Hot time purchase will NOT include a cart
If the tee time purchased is Golfnow Hot time deal, the invoice will show it includes a cart. However, when I check-in, the staff tells me otherwise, and it is not included, and Golfnow made a mistake. I ended up renting a pushcart for $7 dollars (power cart was $17) despite my protest to the shop manager. He was telling me it is Golfnow’s problem, and they have nothing to do with the cart issue. I need to call Golfnow to get a reimbursement was his message. At this point, I was disgusted with their attitude towards the tee time booked through Golfnow, so I paid and left the pro shop.
The Course at Wente Vineyards
Played On 07/16/2016Slow play and marshall patrol not enforcing slow play
Generally, Wente marshall patrol is present but nowadays they are more concerned about patrolling in/out of fairway than enforcing the pace of play. Over 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete a round of golf on Saturday. That shouldn't be for the course charging over $120 for the green fee. We waited on every tee shots and approach shots except for the first hole.
Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course
Played On 04/16/2016Good course but slow play kills the fun
There are too many people playing poor golf and not enough marshals enforcing pace of play which means 5 - 6 hour play is normal at MB. With enough rain this year the course is in great shape. The price is reasonable which draws too many hackers and guys and gals looking for cheap place to play. If you can't stand waiting on every hole which pretty much guaranteed, stay away from this course.
Callippe Preserve Golf Course
Played On 10/20/2015Desperately need to improve the pace of play
Weekday 10:20am start with 3 people and the round took 5 hours and 10 minutes. The problem is 8 minute gap between tee times and marshal not enforcing pace of play. By the 4th hole, there were 4 teams on that hole and the marshal just drove by and did nothing to improve the pace.
If you enjoy 5 hour plus round, try this course.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2015Navigate through bunkers to play well there
It is a difficult course to score well and if it gets windy, even more so. With so many bunkers and some difficult and fast greens, saving par or even bogey can be a good score on some holes. Some greens are very large and may require up to two more clubs to get it close. With tucked pin location on some holes, playing safe to the middle rather than go for the pin which can be a disaster if missed on the wrong side and difficult to recover. Hole #9 is often difficult par 4 due to the length and then forced carry of 180-200 yards or more. Expect delay on #8 & 9 as it is difficult holes to score. Some blind tee shot and some with wide open offers a mix of good challenges for all golfers. Blue and black tees are usually grouped together during weekends offering 6700 yards to speed up play but from the tip can be played as it is not closed. Bunkers are filled with soil & dirt rather sand which makes it easier as they are compressed and recent renovation has most bunkers with enough dirt in.
