Dunwoody Country Club
Played On 10/23/2020Beautiful course, fast greens
Well maintained private course with elevation coming into play on almost every hole. Speedy greens complexes that demand calculated approaches and a knowledge of the course - the first time you play will be full of lessons learned. Great clubhouse and other club amenities at the course, which is not always the case at private Atlanta clubs.
Piedmont Driving Club
Played On 10/23/2020Fun course design
Very fun course to play that looks more challenging than it really is. Water comes into play on many holes but is not unfair. Several very memorable holes that you’ll look forward to playing again. Great piece of property with nice views from most holes. Excellent and comfortable clubhouse with great amenities.
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2019Great, old school coastal course
Played on a golf now hot deal on the weekend, didn't run into another group until 18. Course was in great shape despite heat and being late in the playing season. Loved the fact that this wasn't the typical uber-manicured, made for the glamour shots beach course, but a real course that uses the land well and is friendly to any level of player. Clubhouse and bar/grill have an old school, caddyshack-type vibe. Would definitely play again.
Mirimichi Golf Course
Played On 11/29/2017Mirimichi
Front nine is good, back nine is excellent. Greens were in nice shape for the late fall, there were a lot of leaves on the fairways but the layout was great. Enjoyed talking to Jack the starter and hearing his story, WWII vet still getting at it in his 90s. Excited to play in the spring.
Monroe Country Club
Played On 11/24/2017MCC worth the drive
I am biased because this is the course I cut my teeth on, but it nevertheless deserves the high praise. Front nine is a Donald Ross original, of which there are fewer public designs this well maintained. The layout is a little tight but the greens are in great condition year round and provide Ross's standard strategic challenge. Holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9 are particularly strong holes. The back nine is Tom Jackson, more wide open with larger and less challenging greens, but equally sound conditioning. Playing number 18 as the sun is setting is always a treat.
Orgill Golf Course
Played On 11/14/2017Fun layout
Fun layout and good conditioning for the off season. Could benefit from some sand traps for additional strategic challenges, but that’s about the only knock on it. Also- really nice having a parkland course surrounded mostly by pines, especially in the autumn.
Forest Hill Golf Course
Played On 11/09/2017Nice greens
Greens are in great shape as advertised. Course layout didn't blow me away and is a little confusing if you aren't familiar with it, though the par threes are a lot of fun.
Lakeland Golf Club
Played On 11/02/2017Classic George Cobb layout
Cobb is underrated in the annals of golf course design, but he was masterful at creating courses for the golfer who loves the game and just wants to enjoy a day out. Stonebridge is classic Cobb - good shots are rewarded, bad shots are punished but recoverable, greens are well conditioned and delightfully subtle. You can see traces in it of other Cobb gems like Quail Hollow and High Meadows. Not going to be the site of a US Open, but that allows for timeless design at affordable prices.
The Links at Galloway
Played On 10/19/2017Nice muni
One of the better muni courses I have played, tight but with some fun holes, especially the par threes. Wish that some of the Memphis area muni's had a driving range, but I suppose space was at a premium.
Cherokee Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/28/2017Solid course
Good layout and some fun hole designs. Conditioning was OK, would benefit from some improvements.
Germantown Country Club
Played On 09/17/2017Tight course
Have been wanting to try this course for a while and finally got out with some members. Suburban course is very tight, precision off the tee and approaching the hole is a must. Takes away some strategic elements that wider holes could provide. Decent shape for the end of the summer, but wear and tear was apparent.
Wedgewood Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2017Good public course
I don't know what some recent reviews are talking about re: course conditions; I don't think you are going to find better public course conditions at the end of a southern summer and less than two weeks out from a hurricane. Good layout and challenging but still fun.
We truly appreciate your business and your comments about the course. Come back and see us again soon!
North Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2017I wanted to like...
I wanted to like this course because of the links concept behind it, but it just didn't do it for me. The greens are as good as reviewed, but the woods lining the course were too overgrown and took away from the links-style vibe they were going for. I also thought there were too many blind shots to play good links golf.
Old Hickory Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2016Challenging in the fall
Course was in good condition but green complexes are too challenging for regular golfers in the dryer fall weather. Most greens are either elevated or below the fairways and multi-leveled. Nearly impossible for most players to stick when running fast.
Oak Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2016I want to lie...
I want to lie and say this place is terrible so I can keep this course all to myself...alas I cannot insult the hardworking staff. I've played most public courses in the DC area and this tops out as the best for the money. Course was in great shape all year long, is a fair challenge for bogie golfers but not impossible like Lake Presidential or Old Hickory, and is easily accessible from the beltway. Unfortunately I expect it to get more popular, but hopefully they will keep tee-times at 10 minute intervals to keep a good pace of play.
Langston Golf Course
Played On 10/29/2016Good for what it is
The best of the DC municipal courses. Layout is not as crowded as east potomac and course stays in decent shape if its been watered properly. Better for a quick nine during the week than a full 18 on the weekend-for that you'd be better off paying a little extra and driving a little further out.

Thank you for your comments on Stonebridge Golf Club and the skills of George Cobb. We appreciate your kind words and love of the game.
