Awesome Experience

I was on a surf trip to Rye NH and had a few days to play golf. I picked this course based on reviews, awards and proximity to the beach. I played on a Monday and had such an awesome time that I played it again the next day. The pro shop was great, gave me some local tips and a beautiful yardage book. Everyone on the range, mostly locals on a weekday, said good morning and were super friendly. The starter was on top of things and we teed off 10 minutes early. I played with three locals who couldn't have been nicer and gave me all the local tips as we went along. The course was georgeous and in flawless condition. They had aerated 4 days earlier and you wouldn't have known it. It is a very tactical course, I am an 8 handicap and even with the info I shot an 84. There are penalties for not hitting the fairway or for going long on approach, but you can score if you are in the right spots. Pace of play was awesome and we finished in just over 4 hours, I saw the Marshall several times. Shout out to the great design at the turn, there is a small food and beverage counter right inside the door where you don't have to wait for anything which really helps pace of play. I got a beer, hot dog and used the bathroom in under three minutes. You can really tell how a course is cared for by the cartpaths and bunkers, very hard and expensive to maintain. There was not a single bump on the cart paths (brand new electric carts) and the bunkers were perfect. This course is only 20 years old but the land is very mature and has been in the family since the Revolutionary War so it has an old school feel to it. The passion the owners have for the property and course is very apparent. I made notes in my yardage book and was ready to go low the next day. Right away the pro shop wanted to know if I had fun the day before and how I played etc. Everyone on the range saying hi, some coming over to see how my round was the day before. I played with three people from out of town who had a blast. They only played 9 and the starter tried to hook me up with a group for the back but no luck. I played as a single the back 9 behind 4 elderly men walking and still finished the round in a little over 4 hours. I shot 79 knowing what not to do and can't wait to go back next year!!! Two of the best rounds of golf this year and I belong to a private club and play around alot. Also plenty of local breweries and great places to eat close by if you want to make a day of it. Thanks Breakfest Hill!!

Always the best

My favorite course and I belong to two clubs one being a fancy private club. You can always expect great conditions and the holes are all unique and super fun. This can be a short course if you move up a tee or two so expect to hit alot of wedges and irons, that is another reason I love it, really gives you a through the whole bag experience. Payed $40 for 18 and a cart, my sushi in Amherst post round cost $90 so you do the math, just a steal. Not a big bar or food scene there post round so do yourself a favor and go next town over to Amherst and make an absolute day of it. Love you Ledges!

Great course

Played here when I was in Florida for a wedding. Great course, grass range, brand new titlist rental clubs with Scottie Cameron putter!! Everyone was SO nice, bartenders, pro shop, starter, that I came back again the next day! Played as a single but joined up quickly with nice locals each time. Looking forward to going back again next year!

Pretty awesome

1st time playing this course and I have been coming to Vegas for the last 8 years to play golf. This was recommended to my friend and I by a twosome we were paired with at Boulder Creek, they are locals and highly recommended it. The course is amazing, we chose the Lexington course because they said it was a bit harder. If you like elevated tee boxes you will be in absolute heaven. Coming from Massachusetts everything it's flat and if we ever play a course with an elevated tee box we get very excited. Every single hole has just an amazing elevation and the views were outstanding, mountains and skylines everywhere. We liked how the course was built into the landscape and not bulldozed and built up to be something it wasn't. Course was it was in excellent shape and everyone was unbelievably friendly. Our cart died on the back 9 and they had a new cart out there for us in less than 5 minutes. Everyone in the pro shop and bar super upbeat and helpful. We had such a good time we are squeezing in a round on the Concord course before we leave.

Always the best

Pauite is first class. Everything is plush green and immaculate. All three courses are phenominal. I come to Vegas to golf every year and never miss playing here. This picture of the Sun course just sums it up. Shout out to Tanner in the pro shop!

A different style of golf

This course is outstanding but the firm greens are brutal. You can't land a ball on the greens no matter how high you hit it. The only way to play the course is to under club, aim for the mouth of the green and hope it rolls up slowly. I played with a local who said the only time the greens are receptive is first thing in the morning and after a rain. I did not see a ball mark on the greens the entire day. If you can't or don't want to play that style definitely play somewhere else. I am a 10 handicap and got punished. I hit 11 greens in regulation and all of my shots richoshayed off the green like a ping pong ball except for one. The greens are lightning fast (roll perfectly) and have alot of slope and undulation to them so chipping is not easy either. I gave the course a 5 star rating because it is an awesome course all the way around, it was a great taste of what the pros play on but if I hit a towering pitching wedge that lands next to the pin I really want it to stay on the green. If you want to play that style don't miss playing here it is first class

Unbiased local review

I live 20 minutes from the course and although I belong to two other country clubs I always make it a point to play here a few times a year. I had yet to play it this year since the trees came down and wanted to post a review after seeing it for myself. I played with three other players, one local and two that came from out of town who have played here many times and we all participated in this review. As far as the trees go, which seems to be everyone's major gripe, yes they have thinned it considerably but we all thought it is a very good thing. The dense tree-lined holes were beautiful but were choking out the fairways, greens and tee boxes making them inconsistent and at times barely playable. This project was like trimming back your overgrown landscaping, initially it looks weird and a bit concerning but the next year when it starts to grow back in in a healthy way all is forgotten. Same goes here, there are many trees gone and many still down but it never effects the playability of the holes as they are barely or not in your sight line. The greens and tee boxes were the best I have ever seen them now that they are getting plenty of sun and light. We didn't think it made a difference being able to see the other fairways here and there, it is barely noticeable. This is still a beautiful course and one if the best in western mass. The course now actually looks like it originally did back in the day. People making a trek from out of town should definitely still come. We all had a great and challenging day of golf as we usually do. We took good notice of our surroundings and had thoughtful conversations all day to write this review. A more than reasonable golf now price makes it a must play.

My favorite

I play a dozen rounds in Vegas every year from Boston and this is by far my favorite course. The course is lush green always, the best conditions of any golf now course. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly and accommodating. The course itself is short and not that hard which is a nice break sometimes from grinding it out on the harder courses. The amazing conditions make up for it not being so difficult, it is such a treat to be walking on perfect green grass for an entire round. I will always consider this my favorite course!

Course is great weather not so much

You can't beat Pauite. All three courses are outstanding and it is consistently a first class experience. What I do want to let everyone know is the weather issues. I have played here 20 times and if you are on the strip between November and April you can minus 10 degrees and add 10-15 extra mph of wind to their conditions. Do not book a round without carefully looking into the forecast. For instance this round was a sunny calm georgeous 50 degree day on the strip. The course was 40 degrees with 25 mph winds when I got there. I am from Boston and play there all winter and the couple I played with were from arctic Canada and we only lasted 5 holes due to being frozen despite being dressed well. It is not fun to pay $80 for 5 holes! Do your homework!

Great course

Play this course regularly when I come to Vegas and it is always a treat. Fastest greens around. Not overly long but challenging and interesting holes. Have always been treated very well from the bar to pro shop to starter to cart guys. Can play for very little on golf now which always amazes me. Will always make sure I play this at least once per trip

outstanding

Best course I have played in western mass. Great shape, fast greens, very technical, gorgeous views. Staff always very friendly. They even got me a sandwich from the tournament food for the following day when the kitchen was closed for the night. Deals on golf now are mind boggling I feel like they are paying me to play there! Don't miss a chance to play here it is a great day trip

Can't miss

I play 10 rounds in Vegas every spring and I always play this course twice. It is a beautiful and challenging course near the Hoover Dam, a three 9 hole gem that you usually can play for a steal on golf now. The holes are all very different and you will use all of your clubs. The course has tons of fairway and greenside bunkers so if you do not like bunker play you will probably be frustrated. The fairways are generous so you can avoid trouble if you can hit it straight. Very fast and true greens. The course is so top notch that they have many NCAA tournaments here. Staff always very friendly. Practice balls will run you $10, the practice facility is very good. You can usually find leftover free balls at the range but if you want to check that out before you pay for them give yourself 15 minutes extra as you need to drive down and back a bit from the clubhouse. I am always in awe that I can play this course so cheap. About a 35 minute drive from the strip. Don't miss a chance to play here!

An interesting experiment

An abandoned Jack Nicholas course in the middle of nowhere? Sounded like a good road trip. As I drove out there my thoughts were did I have enough gas, snacks and water incase something happened, you feel like you are off the map, and cell service was spotty. Staff were so nice and the practice facility with free balls was also very nice. I forgot how much undulation Jack's fairways and greens have so I found the course pretty hard. Conditions were great though. They say they will be building houses there soon so if you want to try it I would do it before then. I won't play it again because it is just too far out there. Definitely worth trying if that doesn't concern you!

My favorite Vegas course

I play 10 rounds in Vegas every spring and i always play this twice, I just love it. It is in a gated community which scared me the first time I played it but the houses are a nonfactor, you can't even really see them. The clubhouse is small, the free practice facility is very small but despite that it is still my favorite. I have never had anything but an amazing experience there. Course always in perfect shape, great layout, perfect amount of challenge for all levels, great staff. Breathtaking scenery. Each hole really has it's own character. Hard to describe this course it is just a must play. Greens fees are pricey but if you are patient you can usually get a decent golf now deal. I would still pay a hundred bucks to play it though I would never skip it

I play 10 rounds in Vegas every spring and never miss a chance to play all three Pauite courses. The quality of the experience is always first class. The course is always impeccable, the practice facilities are fantastic and the staff really care that you are well looked after. Definitely top 5 in the country on my list. If you like to practice you should add that into the cost of greens fees, a lot of courses will charge you for a bucket of balls. Here it is all included. I usually go a few hours early to work on my game. The only thing to consider is the wind, on a calm day it is 15 mph. If it is very windy on the strip it will be very tough conditions. You will need to rent a car to get there, about a 35 minute drive. Still well worth it. Five stars all around

Don't miss this one

Played early April, it was one of only a few courses open in CT. Conditions were great! This is a hard and demanding course, the back 9 definitely harder than the front. Golf now rate was a steal. I went back the following weekend despite the 1.5 hour drive from MA. All the staff remembered my name and conditions only got better. One of my all time favorites courses. If you can play this course others will seem easy!
