Best greens in central texas

Love coming here to play despite a hours drive. Great course. Layout and everything. The clubhouse is kinda bare. But that’s ok. I hope to host a regional tournament there in 2022 maybe.

Great value

I’ve always enjoyed playing here despite the fact that it is on the opposite side of town (circle c). Best value. Great layout. I love the par 5 16th hole. 18 is kind of gimmicky for a finishing hole but that’s ok. Shot 70 from the blue tees. Says the slope was 137. I think it is more of 126-128. I will come back for sure.

Good time!

Played a 4 some knowingly on a busy Saturday. We were held back on the 1st hole for about 20 minutes when the hole was empty. We learned that there was a slow play up ahead of us. It was not an issue for us. We enjoyed our round very much, thanks to all the 4 marshalls we saw trying their very best to push the slow playing groups thru. We appreciate all of their efforts to make the playing pace reasonable. Thanks Andrew and Ed!

Good memories

Have not played at Bluebonnet since circa 2000, maybe longer. Was working in the area and decided to "GolfNow" and found this to be close by. So decided to mosey over and play a quick round before heading home. Many good memories of playing here a long time ago with friends who are no longer with us today. Some holes came back to me. The 7th because I made my first eagle from 165 (2nd shot) and I still have the case with the ball inside it. It was a Friday and the course was packed. However it is the type of course that draw in a lot of duffers. The groups in front of me sprayed all over the place and one was playing barefoot. (I don't mind that because I was one before, but they could have played ready golf) The front 9 took me 3 hours and I informed the pro shop at the turn that I needed to walk away. He was gracious and gave me a raincheck for the remaining 9. I appreciated his gesture very much and I will be back during a quiet week day someday soon! Thanks again for everything. Paul

Fun!

This is the type of course that you can have fun! Because the holes are emulated from well known holes in the USA. I played in the late afternoon so I basically had the entire course to myself. I had a ton of a great time playing there! I enjoyed the Bay Hill hole very much, it was interesting! And the short inverness hole. A few more enjoyable holes that I cannot remember right now without looking at the scorecard. I'd come back.

Hi "prutowski " Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the feedback and hope you enjoyed many of the replica holes that we have. The Bay Hill hole is definitely a golfer favorite. Look forward to having you back with us.

Nice find!

I was not expecting much when I got this via GolfNow. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the location. It is an old landfill wisely converted into a 36 hole complex. I played at the Highlands.

Late afternoon round. The 1st hole was crammed so I skipped towards the 10th hole and breezed my way through the back 9 in no time. Then front 9.

This reminds me of Kizer in Austin, but more groomed. The greens are great. Fairways also great!

There were some fun holes. I almost Aced the first 9 Par 3 (was that the 3rd hole?) About 178 yards and I pured a 5 iron to the front of the green, rolled towards the pin and hopped over the hole and rested 18 inches past for a tap in Birdie. STILL to this day, no aces for me.

I would definitely come back and perhaps play the one with all the water. (Cant remember the name)

Thanks for all you do!

Run of the Mill

My impression of this course was this is an early 1990s run of the mill course that was built everywhere to lure in housing and development. That does not mean it is a bad thing, just that this place reeks so much of it.

The only differentiator would be the greens. There were a lot of ridges on the greens. Oftentimes I landed in the wrong quadrant. As a result, I 3 putted four times. Not the courses fault, all mine!

The greens were above average, but not pure. Ball doesn't roll pure due to its bent grass ? not cut down enough. For a simple straight 18 inch putt on a flat surface, the ball would steer off like as if shooting from a bad lead bullet gun from the Civil War.

This place was crammed for a weekday. The parking lot was overstuffed. The staff were running around and I got confused with the cart pick up and figuring out where the 1st hole was. After that, it was all fine.

Would I come back again? Maybe. Maybe not. I have yet to explore so many Houston golf courses.

Thanks! Paul

Fantastic

Have not played this gem in a long time. Last time was when it opened in the 90s. The layout and conditions were fantastic! Lovely yellow wildflowers were painted all over the course. Playing pace was a bit slow due to Sunday afternoon (weekend) which is understandable. Plays like a private cc due to great maintenance. I enjoyed the 17th hole! Shot 73 from the blue tees.

Good course

Not a fantastic layout. A good course to jump around in and from. Driving range was kind of subpar. Overall felt like a city course more than a private course. I had a great pairing as the folks here are friendly at best. Greens are ok.

Good Value

I paid $25 and it was a good value. The pace of play was horrendous as we had to play in front of a 5 some and a 6 some with Juniors. Our round took almost 6 hours. The greens were burned up and a lot of dimples from unfixed ball marks. The greens seemed very tired. But overall, I would come back, great practice facilities, clubhouse, set up and all that is great.

Thumbs up.

Great course out in the Hill Country! Worth every mile of the drive from Austin. Greens were more curvy than Marilyn Monroe. I liked holes 10 and 18.

Only thing I wonder why is the range so far away from the pro shop and even the 1st hole is quite away from the range as well. Some holes are 350 yards apart. Not sure what the reasons were behind this design. But I am not complaining.

I will come back for sure!
