Algonkian Golf Course
Played On 07/09/2023Great Value
Course is in great shape. Very few bare patches. Greens and fairways are slow but very consistent.
Lake Spivey Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2020Quit after 9
The course layout is nice but conditions were so-so. Greens were aerated which I wouldn’t hold against them, but the amount of sand they used was borderline ridiculous. The pace of play was pathetic. Took almost 3 hours to play the front 9 with no sign of improvement. I don’t think I’ll be back.
Cobblestone Golf Course
Played On 03/29/2020Great Value
Very cool course. Great scenery and the greens are in great shape. Fairway and rough are a little spotty, but that's pretty typical for this time of year. Will definitely be back.
Thanks for your 5-star rating and great feedback on the course, pghjake! We hope to welcome you back soon, and thanks for choosing Cobblestone Golf Club.
Red/Blue at Timber Point Country Club
Played On 07/02/2017Good value
The course is a tale of 2 nines. The red course is a very mediocre municipal style course. Not bad, just boring and in normal shape. The blue course however, is absolutely beautiful. I think 5 of the 9 holes were on the bay with spectacular views. The course was not overly difficult, but it was well worth the money we spent. The restaurant had great food and had a nice setup. I would definitely recommend this to the weekend warrior type golfers.
Blue at Bethpage State Park Golf Course
Played On 06/03/2017Meh
Everyone told me that all of the Bethpage courses were very nice, but I will have to respectfully disagree. The Blue course was fine, but nothing to write home about. The greens and fairways were in great condition but very slow. The tee boxes were not in great shape, and the cart paths were a joke. Also, I was disappointed in the optics of the course. It was not nearly as beautiful as I had been told. Maybe I had my hopes too high, but I was disappointed. The starter and cart guys were incredibly rude, to the point where I was called stupid for trying to carry my clubs over to my cart instead of getting the cart and driving back to my clubs. However, there is certainly something to be said for the wow factor of the clubhouse and walking over to the Black Course and looking down 1 fairway and 18 green. The food at the restaurant is great too. I would certainly recommend going to Bethpage, but I would pony up for the Red and/or Black Courses instead.
Kilmarlic Golf Club
Played On 05/31/2017One of the best courses I've played
Kilmarlic was certainly one of the best golf experiences I've had in a while. The pro shop employees were very friendly and were very accommodating to changing our tee time. The practice area was in great shape and even had music playing while you were warming up. The course was phenomenal. It was a great challenge that forced you to hit driver on some holes, while others made you think about what to hit off the tee. The greens were quick, but rolled very true. Make sure you get the Kilmarlic Dog at the turn, delicious!
Thank you for your review and kind words about the course conditions! We agree that the course is in great shape. We have seen several heavy thunderstorms during the first part of July which has slowed down the greens and fairways a bit, but a stretch of dry weather will get us firm and fast once again. See you again soon!
