Continental Country Club
Played On 09/03/2018A hidden gem
I have been unable to get out to play since the last time I played this course on March 29. Typically I like to change courses, but this course was so friendly and fun last time I played it again. I really like this course and even though my drive over is nearly 1:30 it was well worth it. The staff is outstanding and the people I was paired up with were very nice and friendly as well - all in all I could not recommend this course more
Glen Abbey Golf Club

Looking to golf on my day off and booked a round at Glen Abbey - 745 tee time - arrived at 730 and the ever friendly staff greeted me by name and told me I was all set and could head to the tee box. Got to the tee box and a 2some was there, they were friendly and asked what my tee time was and then invited me to play with them (bonus as I hate playing alone) - had a truly awesome round - the 2 gents were gregarious and we had a blast. Since I had played here before, they were quick to ask me about trouble areas and what to avoid - we played in just under 3 1/2 hours. Course was in excellent shape, the greens ran to the fast side this time out even though it was early. The fairways were green and firm. All in all another great round at a great local course

This review is a bit bittersweet as this was my recently passed Brother In Laws favorite place to play. In honor of him I chose to play here on the 15th of November. The day started off pretty well, I hate golfing alone but no one was available so off I went., figuring I would get paired up at the course. Nope, played alone....never saw another golfer until the tee box of hole 11, when I finally saw the twosome ahead of me on the 12th green, but they played nearly as quickly as I do and I never caught them. The fairways were great as always, the teeboxes had some issues and the greens were a little haggard....weather issues, possibly? Not unplayable, just unexpected as this course is usually immaculate. It did not detract from the round though so no harm - shot a nifty 80 and was finished inside of 2.5 hours

Considering the recent hurricane and the high heat index the course was in excellent shape. Love playing here

Wanted a place to play on my one day off and since I had played here several weeks ago I chose to come again - the Tuesday 7:51 tee time is part of a shotgun start - tremendous fun and a great way to meet new people - this time I was paired with a Pastor and 2 of his congregation (added plus 1 was from my home town Chicago area) - we started on hole 18 and unfortunately the sky opened up when we got to hole 8 - we tried to wait it out, but since there was a massive downpour - the course closed - safety first - I still had a great 9 holes and made some new friends - this course is a must, everything about it is first class, from the front staff to the grounds keepers.
LPGA International - Hills Course
Played On 08/07/2017What a Golf Facility Should be!!
I was looking for a place to play for my rare day off during the week and saw LPGA-The Hills Course on golf now for just 25$ - typically with my budget I dont get to play courses of this quality very often so this was a no-brainer. I arrived for my 7:21 tee time at 6:55 - was greeted by a very ncie young man who came to the car, took my bag and asked me if I had been here before - I replied with a no, and he proceeded to explain where to go what to do and advised me about the proshop, the 9th hole snack bar and that there would be a beverage cart (on a Monday at 7am) - I went inside the proshop and the young man at the counter was fabulous, again welcomed me to the course and explained the layout and how to get to the first tee. Went back out and claimed my cart from another gentleman, who made sure I knew where to go and wished me a good round. I followed the path down and around to the first tee, where i was greeted yet again by another fine gentleman, who told me I would be paired up with a 3-some, explained where the restrooms were on the course and when the 3-some arrived, introduced us to each and we were off. I typically shoot 85-95, so I am not a great golfer but the 3-some consisted of a brand new player, a gent with 20 year old clubs *hadn't played in over a year) and a sweet swingin lefty who also had not played in a while. I did not mind a bit.....they were a fun group. I did suggest a few times that we allow the players behind to play through, and did have to remind them about cart paths and nearness to the greens but all in all it was fine. At the 12th hole they got a phone call and had to leave, wished me well and I was now alone - since I was in no hurry, I took my time and lo and behold shot an 85....the course is fabulous, it is challenging but fair. Thank goodness for my Golf Buddy GPS and for my Game Golf app - I was able to plot my way around and make some smarter plays. WIth not feeling as though I had to compete with bigger hitters, I was much more accurate and scored much better than I expected. I would happily pay more than I did to play here again and am looking forward to trying the other course once the Greens come in (they are doing a full replacement, so only the Hills course is open)

I had a rare day off and wanted to play somewhere near my mother in the villages as we were getting together for lunch. I booked a 7:45 tee time and arrived and was greeted by the very very friendly staff. Interesting enough I was informed that morning golf was a 18 hole scramble. No worries! Was paired with 2 gentlemen who live in the development and so had some insider knowledge of the holes and course throughout the round. We started on hole 6 - it was in stark contrast to most florida courses as it was a reachable (if you dare) par 4 over a lake. The golf became more and more fun as the round progressed. Had a great time will definitely return and play this wonderful course again.

Had a rare Monday off so decided to go golfing. Looked for a close to home course that is fun as well as challenging to play. Since I typically play as a single, I was hoping to get paired up and was not disappointed, played with another local and his frined from Seattle. The course was in great shape even with the drought conditions. The fairways while very firm were still green and grassy. The tee boxes were freshly aerated, but still very good, as for the greens, fast and slippery as always. The 2 gentlemen were around my same skill level, so we had a really good time. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a US Open qualifier course experience, or just a darn good time.
Mayfair Country Club
Played On 04/11/2017My Local Favorite
Since I never know for sure what my day of will be, I usually wait to the last moment to make a tee time - I found out Monday I was off Tuesday. Jumping on Golf Now, I looked for a convenient course/time. Always happy to play Mayfair and once again the course did not disappoint. No that my snowbird brother in law is gone I play as a single and am always happy to get paired up with others. Tuesday was no exception - played with 2 very nice guys. Had a blast. The course was in great shape, the weather was perfect. The fairways were very good, the greens smooth and fast. All in all this is a great course at a great price.
Eagle Dunes Golf Club
Played On 12/14/2016Might be the best greens in Florida!!
I played here several months back and was very happy then, but now, my snowbird brother in law is here, so I broke out the big gun and bought us a round. We had a 6:56 tee time, but the fog was a wee bit thick - finally able to tee off at 7:15 - no rush or hurry as we were following a very brave 2-some who we lost sight of in the fog.......can you say FORE!!! My brother in law kept raving about the pace of play, even after the fog lifted, we rarely saw the 2-some the rest of the day. We never saw the 4-some behind us, and finished out round in a little over 3 hours. The greens were fabulous, rolling true and quick. The fairways were nearly as smooth as the greens. The rough was a little gnarly (mowed, but still ball clutching) but you expect that in a Florida course. There are only a few holes with water and a few truly memorable par 3's. The par 5's are beasts. I improved upon my score from the first time playing here and shot a nice 88 with 35 putts. My brother in law shot his best round of the year with a 104 - we are coming back to play here again before Christmas and probably every other week after that - we like to mix things up, but this course is just to good to not play more frequently
Hunter's Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/13/2016Great fun and a Good track
Having previously enjoyed this course I wanted to share it. Finally my snowbird Brother-in-Law made it down. We tee'd up at 8:30 bit foggy but visibility was fine. We were paired up with a very nice young man who played from the blues. We played the greens. Course is definitely a challenge and plays longer than it appears. There are a lot of bunkers that come into play especially for the accuracy challenged. While there is water on several holes it really only comes into play on #5.......all in all we had a great time

I was looking for a tee time for a quick round on my lone off day this week. Found this little gem on Golf Now. Was warmly greeted by the staff in the pro shop. Was supposed to be paired up, but the 5 some had already let them go early. Since I was in no hurry, I waited for my tee time and proceeded to play solo. The 5-some occasionally slowed me down, but with nothing else to do I just paced them from behind (my choice, as I am sure had I asked I could have played through) - even so 18 holes only took 3 hrs 50 mins. The course was in great shape, fairways beautiful, rough not to penal, the green were fabulous. Being as the first time I played here, was very happy to have the 18birdies app on my phone so I could use the GPS feature and play accordingly. Seeing as how I shot a lifetime best 39 on the back 9 and an 80 for the round - all in all a great place to play - I heartily recommend this course
Timacuan Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2016Timacuan is a winner!
I arrived for my tee time with some trepidation, as it has been my experience that some courses dont like solo Golf Now players. I love meeting new people and always ask if I have been paired up. Timacuan was another story...and a good one. I arrived 15 minutes ahead of my tee time and was greeted by a friendly cart man who collected my clubs and myself and inquired if I had played here before. When he found out I had not he proceeded to explain the setup and directed me to the pro shop. I passed through the bar/restaurant and yet another friendly hello from the young lady setting up the bar. I arrived at the pro shop and was again greeted warmly. I was told that the course was wide open and I could proceed to the tee!! - This was just the beginning of a very fun and enjoyable 3 hour round of golf. After parring the 1st hole I proceeded around the course quite briskly. Every groundskeeper and employee I came across were also just a friendly, often just a wave or a quick hello, but all were pleasant. Upon reaching the 18th green, another friendly face greeted me as he wiped my clubs down and asked how I liked the course. He also commented that I must play briskly....as he could not believe I was finished with 18 in just under 3 hours... we talked for a moment about the various holes and how fast the greens were and then I headed back to my car to offload my clubs. I made the trip back into the pro shop to let the staff know how much I enjoyed playing here and that I would be back soon! All in all this was one of the best maintained and scenic beauty courses I have ever been on. Thanks Timacuan!
Highland/Grove at Errol Country Club
Played On 07/03/2016A good time
I had not played here before and as usual I looked to reviews. The reviews were a mixed bag, but I took a chance. Glad I did. Got paired up with 3 younger guys, no worries I fit right in. They had played here before, so a little local knowledge helped with me shooting a decent score of 90. It could have been better but the greens were wet and slow early and then dry and fast later.....the perils of an 8am tee time. I was impressed with the conditions of the greens. The tee box were not bad but could use some work. Fairways while well mowed show some areas of concern but overall were not bad - especially as courses due tend to ease up a little during summer here in Florida. They do have a ton of bunkers, so be prepared to pay the price, as there are fairway as well a guarding the green types here. The course itself played long and was moderately difficult, there are a couple of time when I wished I hit longer than I do but I found the bailout areas to be helpful. I would recommend this course.
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2016Heartily Recommend this GEM
I was looking for a quick tee time and found this hidden gem - great price. I arrived 15 minutes before my tee time and was greeted by a friendly staff. I was able to get right out no waiting for 7am - the course was in fantastic condition. Fairways are perfect, rough in good shape as well, The greens were beautiful and had enough undulations to make for a good judge of the the putting surface - I hit 10 fairways and when I was not on the fairway the rough was a test but fair. 32 putts on the round - green speeds fairly quick but firm and fair - I definitely will play here again and again - give this one a try the owner has really put money into it and is well worth the drive and the cost
Spruce Creek Country Club
Played On 05/14/2016Hidden Gem
Recently I played with a group at another course and they recommended giving Spruce Creek a try. Glad I did - this track is located in a fly-in community but is easily accessible to the public. From the amazing homes located just off the fairways to the scenic wondering as it winds its way through the community this was everything they told me to expect. I arrived 30 minutes early for my tee time and was ushered right out to play with a group of 3 gents. Introductions and we were off. The first holes is a great warm up par 5 - shot making is a must. The greens were slightly bumpy but basically rolled true. It was a quick 3:45 round - give this one a try you wont regret it.
Providence Golf Club
Played On 04/17/2016A Must Play
My Brother-In-Law is a snow bird. He is a full time RV'er. We wanted to get together for a memorable day of golf. Since he is currently near Providence we decided to hit the links there. What a great decision. The friendly staff greeted us before we even got out of the truck. The young man put our clubs on the cart and sent us over to the clubhouse. We were met by a friendly counter staff. After being told that we could just head right out, we were off. I had never played here before, but my Brother-In-Law did about 3 years ago. The layout of the front 9 is more wide open and reminiscent of layouts in the mid-west. The holes are fun and if playing from the whites a challenge. The back 9 is more Florida, trees, bunkers and traps galore. a few blind hero tee shots are possible which make it even more challenging. Water on serveral holes and some forced carries. We played 18 holes on a Sunday tee'd off at 7:40 and finished in a very tidy 3 hours and 45 minutes - We were in no rush and though there was a foursome in front of us, we did not ask or try to play through, they moved along quickly enough to keep us from waiting. - Upon completion, I stopped in the clubhouse and complimented the counter staff on having a great experience

Played On 04/09/2016Train Wreck? NOT!! Well Worth the Drive!
I was looking for somewhere new to play and saw this course p[op up in my search. I read the review and decided that the challenge was worth the drive to get there, and the price could not be beat. I arrived about 45 minutes prior to my tee time and was greeted by the friendly staff. After checking in I was given a small bucket and politely informed where the driving range and first tee were located. I warmed up and returned to the starter. Again a friendly HELLO greeting. I felt like they really were happy to have my business. I was matched up with a 3-some and after introductions we were off. What a fantastic layout. This course reminded me of courses I have played in Illinois and in Pennsylvania. The elevation changes and blind tee or in some cases second shots were amazing. The 3-some had local knowledge and my GolfBuddy device was definetly needed to help with some of the yardages. Hole 9 - Train Wreck - is a beast - I was very happy to make bogey - the back 9 starts off with a tough little par 3 and then you are off on a tour of the signature "crater" holes. What a fun time - I would heartily recommend this course and will return again. Great Place to play and meet new people.
Pine Lakes Golf Club
Played On 03/12/2016Pine Lakes Got Game!
Looking for a new track to visit and spur of the moment - found tee time for a great price. Although this course is 1 hour from my home I made the trip. Was I ever glad I did. From the moment I arrived I was pleased. The starter met me at the bag drop, took my bag and told me he would get it set on a cart. I checked in in the ProShop and was greeted with an enthusiastic hello. Informed me I would be playing with 2 members, Frank & Kari. Delightful couple and their local knowledge of the course paid off, even with my GolfBuddy GPS I would have been hard pressed to avoid the devious traps Mr Palmer designed into this course. Front 9 tough but fair - feeling out the course, Back 9 also tough but fair, Frank's knowledge of the course, combined with the front 9 and watching my game allowed me several birdie opportunities. Having never played here, shooting a 90 with a 43 on the back was incredible. I will play this wonderful course again and will bring my regular group. This course exceeded my expectations - a must play
River Bend Golf Club
Played On 12/24/2015New Friends and a great round of golf
As so oftne happens, the wife said get outa here and go play golf...lol I caught River Bend with a hot deal. Knowing full well I would end up paired I headed out. This course is absolutely fantastic. I was paired up with 3 older gentlemen, the oldest was 87 (he is a feisty one) We had shook hands and were off, although I regularly outdrive them they were very competitive and their knowledge of the course served them well. We played in just over 4 hours and I shot a pleasing round - the course was in great shape and the staff was friendly and helpful - all in all I would play here again anytime
We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your round and your playing partners at River Bend! We can't wait to have you back on the course, and next time see if your wife will recommend that others get out and play with us too!
Thank you for your 5 star review and recommendation! We are proud that we have impressed you. Please come back and play with us again soon!
