About
Variety is the spice of life. I enjoy playing new courses and exploring what they have to offer. To date I've played 544 different courses, from Pebble Beach to St. Andrews. I have also played every public course in New Jersey and many in the surrounding states. I'm always looking for somewhere new to play. @aol.com

McCullough's Emerald Golf Links
Played On 08/30/2017I could...
...play this course every day. Just a lot of fun with where to hit your tee shots and the best way to approach the green complexes. No issues with slow play. The course played long because of rain.
Southmoore Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2017Another week
Everything was good, but they recently aerated and I say it needs another week or so. Very bumpy
Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis
Played On 08/24/2017A Work in Progress
Conditions were not the best, but at least they were working on the tees. Greens were good. And its a really good layout. Just needs some TLC. and somehow, get rid of the green-head flies.
Medford Lakes Country Club
Played On 08/16/2017What a difference...
...9 hole can make. Almost like playing two different courses. Front was straight forward with tree lined fairways, the back 9 was much more interesting with excellent bunkering, some forced carries and water.
Private, but do have, on occasion, "play days", Mondays when they allow the public out for $65 w/cart. call the pro shop.
Cape Arundel Golf Club

...Golf Club Atlas, yet another great recommendation.
This Course is very special. You don't usually get to play a Walter Travis designed course. This is George Bush's home course when he is in Kennebunkport. The clubhouse is named after him. Although not long, its all about the green complexes, with their many undulations and false fronts. It is so important on where to place your tee shots and how to approach the green. The Staff and members couldn't be nicer.
Deer Run Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2017More difficult than it looks
Conditions where good, Greens were smooth but generally flat. Rough was heavy, keep an eye on where your ball goes. It plays longer because most greens are elevated. Favorite hole was #2, par 4 with a pond fronting the green, which requires a long drive to get home in 2.
Bowling Green Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2017Great Conditions
It's all good. Conditions, layout all terrific. Still a little pricey. Senior deal after 11 am
Fountain Green Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2017Deceiving
This course looks straight forward, but the fairways are narrow and the tree lined fairways and the rough make it even tighter. Some nice holes with water in play. My Favorite was #5, short par 4, with water fronting the green, but the best part was the tee shot between 2 tall trees that were barely 15 yards apart. Need to be military or retired military or a guest of
Heron Glen Golf Course
Played On 07/25/2017One of the...
... better public courses in New Jersey. Some forced carries but they are doable. Every hole has something exciting going on.
Bedens Brook Club, The
Played On 07/24/2017An Enjoyable Round
It's all good at Bedens Brook. I had the opportunity to play this course through an NJSGA Members Day Tournament. Conditions where excellent throughout especially after all the rain we had. The layout was interesting with some very nice par 3's
Lake Mohawk Golf Club
Played On 07/19/2017Beautiful Golf Course
Every hole was picturesque. Many holes were up or down on this hilly course with tees close to the greens, so it was walkable. Terrific green complexes that were very quick. The course played longer than the yardage indicated, so pick the right tees.
Deerwood Country Club
Played On 07/18/2017South Jersey Golf Association
Played in the SJGA Senior Tournament. Great fun. The course is not too long (this is good). 4 sets of tee's.
Good conditions throughout. Some forced carries, but doable. Routing is a little strange. You do not return to the clubhouse after 9. And there are some long walks between greens and the next Tee. Course is flat but would not be fun to walk.
Sprain Lake Golf Course
Played On 07/17/2017I'd like to play....
...it again, when its finish. Lot's of renovations going on
but I still enjoyed the course. Maybe the end of the year or early next year. No flat lies hear. Rolling terrain with some nice holes. Play was very slow, need a ranger.
Beacon Hill Country Club
Played On 07/06/2017NJSGA Father/Son
Played today in the NJSGA Father/Son Tournament.
Very enjoyable and very good conditions. It would take some time to get use to the routing, The greens were quick and with subtle breaks. Beautiful views of the NYC Skyline and Raritan Bay from the clubhouse.
Locust Valley Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2017Tight
The course is in good shape. A challenge to play. Just have to keep it out of the trees. The green are quick, undulating and difficult to read. Most of the greens are pinched in by two bunkers in the front. Almost wants you to play up short and pitch close and 1 putt for the par, than hitting in the bunker or short siding yourself.
Fox Hollow Golf Club
Played On 06/29/2017Country Club Conditions
I thought I was playing a private club. Conditions were excellent throughout. We were the only ones on the course so pace of play was not an issue. Maybe because they raised the green fees, they are getting less play. $68 to ride on a weekday is a little on the high side. No senior discount either.
Rumson Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2017I want to go back!!
I had the opportunity to play at Rumson CC through the NJSGA Members Golf Day as this course is private. Conditions are excellent throughout. Watch out for the fescue. Greens are quick and undulating. This course also includes a boat house on the Shrewsbury River, with spectacular food and views. The architects name is Herbert H. Barker
Beaver Brook Country Club
Played On 06/21/2017Great Deal!
$29 for seniors to ride. Course is in great shape and greens are quick. Must keep it in the fairway for par.
Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 06/18/2017Blue to White
An enjoyable round. Course conditions were good throughout. Favorite hole #13 double dogleg par 5.
Hidden Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/13/2017Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!
I had the opportunity to play in a South Jersey Golf Association Tournament. What fun on a great course.
Fairways are ample, but don't miss them. Deep fescue throughout. Think Erin Hills. Greens are very slick with subtle undulations. It's private, so if you get the chance, take it
