Graywolf Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2023continued improvement
Had hot deal time on a saturday morning. a little congested in the beginning, but the round was 4 1/2 hours even with having to wait occasionally on the group in front. some scrappy areas on the greens, but last week had some terrible heat. The course is better than last year and recovering from tornado damage previously. Fairly flat overall with some mild elevation changes, and you can usually see where you are supposed to aim.

My first time out this season for this course. The fairway grass was a little long and the greens were slow, but the previous week had some showers and heat to encourage grass growth. Pace of play was excellent, a foursome let me through and I finished in 3:15. A nice variety of holes, with some elevation changes and enough water to keep things interesting. The golf shop is always well stocked with decent food and drink choices, and the staff is very welcoming and personable. It was a great value with Hot Deal and a monthly coupon code for Golfpass. Their regular rates are very reasonable as well.

Got a good deal on hot de al, and was able to get a second standard tee time for my wife. Got behind three walkers, so waited on every shot on the front nine. Still, got around in four hours. Limited amenities with vivid rules. Course in good condition. Greens were surprisingly fast in the beginning. Very pleasant staff.

Excellent value for the money got an 810 T time on a Friday and was paired with 2 gentlemen were very friendly and gracious . we got around in 3 hours in spite of my errant shots the course itself had excellent greens and was a pleasure to play. A bit wet in spots. staff was very pleasant from the cart personnel to the snack bar and pro shop. I shot above my handicap because of the challenges of dormant Bermuda rough.

Played On 05/26/2018except for that twosome ahead of us...
Got an excellent deal for the foursome from the course ($25). Busy day, had to wait a little to tee off. the ranger told the twosome behind us to join up with the twosome ahead. The first twosome refused and sped off. the second twosome was told to return to their spot in line behind our foursome (our teetime was earlier) but he pitched a fit and ranted about wanting his money back, etc, didn't want to wait, moan groan whine. I was glad no children were nearby. we told him to go ahead and tee off, that every one would finish eventually. (we ended up waiting for them on every hole, but saturdays are busy...) the course itself is very nice, rebuilding a bit, and may benefit from some signage for directions. Interesting variety of holes. The owner (father of John Cook and Kathy Cook, professionals) chatted with us in clubhouse after the round. His family runs the course; very pleasant. Plenty of water present on the course, but really only for wayward shots, except when obvious from the tee or GPS device.

Played On 02/22/2018Glad I teamed up with jim
First time playing, on first tee joined with a local player, and he really helped on proper targeting. A cold rainy day, but that helped us zip around in 3.5 hours as the course was not crowded. That includes some ball hunting and a short rain break.some dormant areas and dead grass in fajrway, but greens were good. Playing with Jim helped avoid unseen trouble. A fun course. Near Mt. Woodson, another course I liked in previous years. Very pleasant staff in clubhouse, and nice beverage facilities afterwards. Will play again on another San Diego visit! Excellent price with hot deal on golfnow.
Bay Point Resort - Meadows Course
Played On 01/01/2018first round of the year!
Of course Jan 1 is winter, but Florida panhandle was merely cold while the northern states were frigid. 38 degrees and windy on the course, an interesting layout, two to three club wind. course was fair to play, some challenging green complexes, would love to come back when I didn't have to wear four layers of clothing. the scorecard had helpful hints for shot placement. staff were very cordial, I may have only been the fifth person on the course, ha ha.

It can be a little difficult finding this course your first trip, it is hidden away, but worth the travel! this course has changed over several years, with tornado damage felling trees, and emerald ash borer decimation. That being said, the course is now a little more open and the fairways and greens are all the better for it. Still tight in spots. Make sure you check your gps for distance to hazards. A fun course with interesting elevation changes.

Played On 09/12/2015Finally able to complete a round here
I have come to this course twice in four years, but never finished secondary to darkness or weather. Got allthe way through this time and really enjoyed it! Ran into some congestion on the last four holes, and the twosome behind us were lacking golf etiquette, by talking loudly and playing the radio (get earplugs, dummy! Life doesn't have a soundtrack!) challenging greens, but beautiful natural views; the wind made club selection thoughtful. A great course to play, we drove down from Boyne (visiting from Ohio.)
Hi doctorsteve,
Thank you for taking the time to review our course. We are happy you were able to finish the round this time! We are sorry that twosome behind you weren't following Golf etiquette. We wish there was more we can do.
We hope to see you soon!

Country Club of the Poconos Municipal Golf Course
Played On 05/02/2015Not a good choice for the first round of the year
My two playing partners had not touched a golf club for a while, so the forced carries on several holes led to lost balls. The scorecard should say if there is a drop area, as it was not always obvious from the hole layout. A tight course where you don't need your driver for pretty much the front nine.
/a few blind shots, and an unexpected uphill green made for an interesting and sometimes frustrating day, I felt like we were really dragging (my partners were a little deliberate with their practice swings) but we finished in 4.5 hours, and that includes the very lengthy drives between holes. VERY LENGTHY.
Some very pretty views for pictures, on long holes and par threes.
I would consider trying this course again, but only after playing other courses in the area for more experience.

A fair test of golf fromthe white tees. Carts had GPS but I still like yardage book tips. Receptive but fast greens. Excellent service and staff. Number 17 par three all carry over the marsh 165 yards was a thrill. Will bring a group here in the future.
Thanks so much for the review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing San Vicente Golf Resort.
