Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2024Poor condition, needs a LOT of work.
I'll preface this by saying we've had a very cold and wet winter with lots of flooding rain. However, the layout here has always been very questionable with holes "forced" into area not conducive to reasonable golf. Tees are dirt, no grass, lots and lots of tree cutting and chipping has left wood chips all over the sides of fairways. Several hole have tilted fairways and the cart paths are torn up and very bumpy. Several wet areas, practically swamp. Greens are fair.

Played On 04/13/2023Greens are a mess
Too much rain must have really set this course back. Fairways are washed over, grass is very thi and the greens are awful, like putting on packed dirt.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us, oldsage. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Providence Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
The Creek At Hard Labor State Park
Played On 05/31/2022A challenging course in declining condition.
This is an old, state-owned course that is quite challenging and requires real accuracy. It is set in rolling hills in a state park full of trees and vegetation which seems to make it very hot/humid in summer months. The fairways are only decent and several of the greens are in poor condition with large bare spots. It is still worth playing simply because the price is lower than most courses and it's not hard to get a tee time on weekdays.
Providence Club
Played On 05/10/2022Grass/turf still recovering…
Long winter w/ late freezes combined with dry spring has tees and fairways recovering slowly. Greens are very playable with very few bumps.

Sugar Mountain Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2021Wonderful little course in terrific condition.
Gorgeous short course with challenging holes in a beautiful setting. Thick bluegrass rough and fringes demands accurate shots. Greens are consistent, fairways are lush and even...it’s a flat out fun place to play.
Providence Club
Played On 08/23/2021Entire course in fine shape
Very good growing conditions have made for nice, even fairways and consistent greens.
Thanks so much for your great feedback!
Monroe Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/06/2021Consistent greens & good fairways
Just a few little tweaks like sanding/softening the ground on some tee boxes and maybe raking some rocky places in rough just off the fairways but it has good turf in fairways and around greens and greens roll true with speed consistent on all holes...except possibly number 18 which seem faster. All in all, it’s in good shape and is challenging but fair.
Providence Club
Played On 06/30/2021Very playable
This is one of the few courses not overwhelmed with players and the staff are very accommodating. Practice green has been ravaged by disease but the coarse greens are good with numbers 1and 12 a little rough. Fairways are very good and tees are OK. A good course that looks easy but can be tricky if not careful.
Thanks for the honest feedback! We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Providence Club
Played On 05/19/2021Needs some attention
Greens are rough with lack of grass...seems like wet, cold weather has brought on an algae problem which is retarding grass growth. Tees are hard...course just doesn’t appear as green as others in the area.

Providence Club
Played On 03/22/2021Not bad at all after a cold, wet winter.
They have the rakes back out for bunker play. Greens roll true and are consistent. Fairways are rather thin but coverage is pretty good considering all the rain and runoff.
Thanks for the honest feedback, and we hope we will see you back again soon!
Monroe Golf & Country Club
Played On 09/08/2020Course needs work
I don’t know how greens got so soft but every green is literally riddled with balls marks, many not repaired. Balls from normal approach shots gash the soft greens, tearing up grass. Areas surrounding greens are overgrown so balls actually disappear if just 6” off the apron. Many places have thick crabgrass immediately beside the fairway, too much penalty for shots slightly off. Won’t go back.
Providence Club
Played On 08/11/2020Consistent and well-groomed
Fairways and greens are well-maintained, greens are very consistent and roll true, no bumps or bounces. Course is challenging but average golfer can shoot a good score.
Thanks for leaving us a review, we hope to welcome you back again very soon!
Spruce Creek Country Club
Played On 05/22/2020Cozy course that is challenging but fair
Really liked this course that winds its way through houses, streets and yards similar to a course I played regularly as a kid. Greens are consistent and roll true. Layout is a good mixture of straight and dogleg holes with a good bit of sand and water.

The Creek At Hard Labor State Park
Played On 05/14/2020Suffering from weather
Tees are torn up and hard, course is very dry with hard fairways and greens are woefully devoid of grass due to dry weather and cool night temps. Several greens are nothing but dirt and all the greens are very hard, fast and bumpy. Should improve with rain and warmer temps. Obviously not being irrigated. Other courses have similar green problems.
Providence Club
Played On 05/05/2020Greens not grown in
management is very accommodating and the new carts are very nice. I have no doubt things will improve but right now, the grass on the greens is very thin and greens have been sanded...making for hard, fast surfaces...but greens are consistent on all 18.
We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. We also thank you for your feedback, and we will work to implement some changes. We are looking forward to having you back here!
The Creek At Hard Labor State Park
Played On 03/27/2020Needs a little work after such a wet winter.
Narrow and winding fairways demand accuracy. Thick trees require recovery shoots from rough. Tees and greens need work, several greens have grass deficiency and a couple of them are devoid of grass due to being covered in water causing disease and algae to take over. Many areas still muddy/wet from so much rain. Still a good course to play for the money.
The Chimneys Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2019A good layout always kept up well
A good mix of tough and easy holes. Most fairways wide and receptive. No dead spots in fairways which are in really good shape. Could do a better job maintaining traps. Greens are consistent... all SLOW.
Providence Club
Played On 06/14/2019Excellent condition, good price...friendly staff
Grass is lush, greens are consistent, didn't notice any dead spots. Call ahead because they host a lot of tournaments.
Thanks for the 5-star review and choosing to play at The Providence Club! We appreciate your feedback and look forward to having you back for another round soon. #ProvidenceGC
Riviera Country Club
Played On 05/16/2019Very crowded course, nice mix of long and short holes
I would have to warn folks wanting to play here that this course is covered up in members, both men and women, and the pace of play can be excruciatingly slow. Fairways mostly wide open with par 4's varying from 335 to 410 and par fives from 465 to 510. Greens had been recently aerated but there was a notice. Nice little course for all the retirees that play every day, but it's a mystery to me why they are on GolfNow since they already get more play than they can handle.
The Chimneys Golf Course
Played On 07/03/2018Grass good in fairways, aprons and tees. Greens are consistent.
A challenging course from the blue, much easier from the white. Greens were "fuzzy" and very slow but consistently that way. I guess the mowers can't keep up with all the growth due to so much rain. Fairways drain well and are firm. The layout is pretty straightforward and course condition is about an 8.7 out of 10.
