Pukalani Country Club
Played On 03/31/2024Pukalani is in great shape!
Pukalani is still my favorite local golf course! I played a fast round on Easter afternoon (3hr), normally impossible at Pukalani. Even the Marshall was nice… hopefully they fired that awful guy, David. “One bad Apple…”
The Dunes At Maui Lani Golf Course
Played On 01/28/2024The Dunes always deliver to better golfers!
The course was in great shape, as usual, with only one green on the back nine that wasn’t ideal. Otherwise, greens, fairways & really everything is in fabulous condition! In spite of playing on a busy Sunday, the pace of play was quite good - with our 3-some finishing in 4hr & 20min. Maui Lani is a very interesting, challenging course – more suited for better golfers than high handicappers and the occasional golfing tourist. There are many blind approach shots to greens, many long, steeply sloped, uphill holes, and the greens themselves are difficult with both slope and plenty of undulation. It’s a fantastic course for golfers with a 15 handicap or less, but could possibly be too challenging, or even frustrating for most amateur golfers. The Dunes are lways worth it for the overall experience, and the unique views of the Iao Valley in the background!.
Maui Nui Golf Club
Played On 01/14/2024First & Last time I’ll play here!
I finally played Maui Nui, after living on Maui for 2.5yr. It is in the worst shape of any golf course I’ve played in the past 5yr. Poor & neglected greens, terrible fairways with obstacles, holes, and ground under repair everywhere, and even half the Tee boxes are a disgrace. The worst problem is, it’s not really under reconstruction - only two greens have been replaced in the past several years, and they all need to be redone. I’d understand if they were charging twenty bucks a round, but it’s nearly triple that. Avoid playing here until Mgmt gets serious to improve things.
Maui Nui is an absolute goat track… embarrassing!
Pukalani Country Club
Played On 01/11/2024Great day at Pukalani, but sent home prematurely.
Enjoyed a really nice day playing Pukalani until a Ranger told us at 5:24 that we needed to end play to return the golf cart by 5:30. This seemed unreasonable and unfair, given that sundown was at 6:02PM without darkness approaching until 6:25PM. We should have been allowed to play 3 more holes, with no difference in outcome for the cart intake. This is not Customer focused, was unnecessary, and needs to be amended. Bad call from Management., or did the volunteer Ranger just want yo go home early for dinner?? He still gets his free golf either way. 👎🏼
Pukalani Country Club
Played On 02/24/2022Pros & Cons
I like playing Pukulani CC because it’s the closest golf course to my home. It’s a wide open, fairly easy layout that goes up & down the Mtn on each hole. Greens & fairways are in nice shape, but the sand traps are awful. They actually have no sand, but instead some type of river loam, and are rock hard. Management really needs to spend some money and bring in some actual sand.
Pace of play is generally slower than average, and it’s hard to finish 18 holes in less than 4.75 ~ 5hr - even during the week.
Most of the staff are nice and friendly, but there is at least one Marshall who’s goal is sending you home early. They try to clear the course with still 1/2hr of playable conditions, just so they can get home early for dinner. Management needs to change their policy to allow paying customers to finish their round if visibility is still adequate. It’s the only course that I know of on Maui that tries to kick you off early! All golfers know to head in when they can’t see the ball any longer. But, letting Marshall’s badger the golfers is absolutely appalling! Marshalls are given free golf, and they shouldn’t be allowed to harass paying customers. Management needs to recognize who pays the bills!!
Pukalani Country Club
Played On 03/13/2022They kick you off way before sundown!
Good course in better condition than 3 ~ 4yr ago.
Only gripe is that the Marshalls hassle you to quit & turn in your cart 30min before sundown. What golfer wants that?? We all know to head in when ball visibility becomes difficult. Boo to crummy management!
ShadowGlen Golf Club
Played On 06/29/2021Greens are getting nice!
Great day @ SG. Greens rolled true, great layout. When T-boxes grow in, & if they would cut more of the wild fringes, it would be 5-Star.
Lago Vista Golf Course
Played On 02/24/2021Course is a little rough
Typical TX winter conditions - lots of hard pan, nothing green or growing, but great to be out playing after the 8-day Feb storm. Greens were not rolling true either, but still a good value for 18 holes.
Lago Vista Golf Course
Played On 01/14/2021Hello, ekiwaki. Thank you for visiting us at Lago Vista Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
The Golf Club Star Ranch
Played On 03/23/2021Good round on a perfect day
The course is in excellent shape, especially the greens for this time of year. Pace of play was very slow, partially due to Star Ranch allowing a five-some to play ahead of us. Sorry, but this should never be allowed on any course!
Forest Creek Golf Club
Played On 09/08/2020Best Course in Centex
Forest Creek is in great shape, and I believe it is once again the best and most challenging golf course in Central TX. It’s much tighter than easy, wide-open courses like *Ranch or T-Vista, and the greens & traps have been vastly improved by the 2019 completed renovation. But it’s too difficult for casual golfers, who will find it difficult to break 100 @ FC. It plays at least 7 strokes harder than most other Centex courses. I had 10 pars & shot an 83 today.
Thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you again soon and you breaking 80 out here!
Wolfdancer Golf Club
Played On 12/10/2020Possibly the toughest course in CenTex
Had a nice 1st round at Wolfdancer, which played quite long and was extra challenging due to ~20 mph winds. I was fortunate to play with someone who had played there before. There are many sand traps protecting small, very sloped greens, and also sand traps dotting the fairways to snare you off the Tee. On many holes, getting a par felt like a birdie at most courses. Shot an 88, which isn’t bad considering the wind & course difficulty. I believe many decent golfers would struggle to break 100 at Wolfdancer.
The course is very well maintained with the exception of some ‘Natural Areas’ that are unmowed and indiscernible from a distance - they hide & will swallow balls. Greens are fast, very sloped, and more undulated than any course I’ve played. You really need to understand the preferred landing areas on approach shots, pitches & chips. Many fairways are quite sloped, causing you to target left or right side to account for roll & gravity. Looking forward to playing there again with less wind & more course recognition!
Hidden Falls Golf Club
Played On 08/05/2020Always worth the drive!
Good round at Hidden Falls, finishing 18 holes in 3hr with two players. Overall, the course is in good shape, but the greens were slow as molasses. Made me wonder if they were cut the day we played. Otherwise everything was good, I just don’t like needing the slam the ball in order to reach the cup.
Awesome! We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Hidden Falls Golf Club.
Crystal Falls Golf Course
Played On 05/27/2020Enjoyed Crystal Falls
Played C.Falls for the second time, and the course is in fine shape! Greens had been lightly sanded the day before, but they were still rolling well. I heard that they had lost the greens somewhat last yr, but evidently the grounds team has worked hard to get them back in very nice shape. I’m sure the recent rains have helped a lot. Crystal Falls is definitely worth playing, although a challenging course!

Alta Sierra Country Club
Played On 10/04/2019Alta Sierra is tops!
Beautiful hilly course, great layout, greens are smooth and quick. I'd like to take this course back to Austin!
The Lincoln Hills Golf Club - Orchard Course
Played On 09/24/2019Nice Orchard Course
Good round played on the Orchard Course. Challenging, undulated greens in very good shape. Would play again... good value!
The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center
Played On 09/10/2019The Ridge is Challenging
Excellent course, quite hilly & difficult with many tight greens protected by sand traps.
Thank you so much for your review and kind words. We value your feedback, and hope to see you back soon.
Morris Williams Golf Course
Played On 12/19/2018Drizzly day, but good Round
Slow greens due to rain and not cut day of play. But course is in good shape overall, and crews were re-sodding some areas. Always a good value round!
Pine Forest Golf Club
Played On 06/23/2018Nice course, uncut Fairways & Greens
I've played twice recently (a Sat & Sun) at Pine Forest, and the Greens are PAINFULLY SLOW, due to being left shaggy. Also the fairways are not cut often enough to be true fairways... overall cheapness & maintenance neglect at this course. It's too bad, due to a challenging layout with interesting views & elevation changes. Please do better new management!
Lions Municipal Golf Course
Played On 01/14/2018Lions is in good shape!
The greens were faster than the last three times I've played Lions, and pace of play was 4hr for a foursome. A great round overall!
Hello, ekiwaki. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Lago Vista Golf Course.
