I paid $40 for this course in Orlando during March. My expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised. The greens were faster than they looked and had a ton of subtle slope. The fairways were generally good but the 7th (if I remember correctly) looked like it was some water damage.

Great:
A couple of really tough holes (7 15, and 17 most notably).
Really liked the par - 3s - variety of distance and difficulty
Price

Challenges:
the range was limited. - which I could handle but the balls were "used" and half of them were playable.
They are doing some bunker work - removing lots of bunkers to make it easier.

Overall - typical Florida course with all the water and houses. I didn't want to spend $100+ for the round so it was a good value. Could have played the Disney Courses or Orange National - but just wanted to get out. Better than the $40 I spent and enjoyed the lay out

I wish I could give it a 3.5 because it was better than expected for the price; but when compared to Disney or the other great tracks near Windermere, it Is a tier below. Again - but still a great value for someone who just wants to play golf - and avoid the mop and circumstance of a top tier, expensive course.

Greens were great and nice pace for an afternoon round. Layout was cool.

A lot of homes on the course but they are mostly unique and were fun to look at.

Great community and quaint restaurant.

It is a drive out there but worth it.

Played the course during the WM Open week. Good deal. Got hit with the maximum rack rate but it was still a good experience.

Greens were good and the rest of the course was in good shape. The layout is fair - not too tight. Front nine has some room to hit the ball and the back nine feels a little tighter.

Only issue was we were out early and the group ahead of us played the second nine in 2:20 and the ranger just drove by. Groups were starting to back up. Made the round about 4:10 - technically ahead of pace but not a good sign for the afternoon golfers.

Would definitely go there again. Outside of the WM Open week, it is a great value.

I heard about this course from a couple of people and decided to trek out to the course. High Expectations

Some great experiences and some very disappointing ones.

Positives:
*Green were slick and fast - a little burnt out on the edges but the greens were unbelievable.
*The course was nicely laid out but we had trouble remembering holes after the round (except the par 3s because massive elevation changes.
*Not a ton of houses so there were some spectacular views.

Negatives:
*Tee boxes were atrocious. Their Par-3s were the worst. They tried to grow the grass to make them look even but they are severely uneven. Even the par 4s and 5s had their moments with bumps. I would have given the course a 5 on course conditions but the teeboxes dropped it to 3. They were that bad for a high-priced course.
*The service was not great - starter was a little rude. I feel when you play a course like this, the experience is supposed to draw you back. I conferred with my playing partners and they agreed that the sense was we were lucky to get a tee time during WM Open week and we were there for them - not they were there to help us. May be unfair but all three of us got that sense.
*We barely finished even though we teed off 4:50 minutes before sunset. We watched a group spend at least 10 minutes with the bev cart while an employee watched. I see where the delayed happened. The second tee had two groups waiting - and happened on several holes - sign of a mismanaged pace of play
*Proshop is not good. I assume it is a temporary spot given the building and 5 minute drive to the first tee box and range.

OVERALL: Considering the drive and the cost, it did not meet up to our expectations. The service, tee boxes, and pace of play put a damper on the experience. I can see why people like the course - and it could be better - but overall is was a victim of high expectation and the value not there.
There are too many courses in PHX/Scottsdale to play at that price point.

I wish it was different.

I play here with my parents once a year. We make the trek down from St.Pete because the course is normally in great shape and it is a phenomenal value.

We played the day after Christmas and I assume they didn't mow the greens for 3 days. It showed (little furry) but in my experience, the course is usually very fast.

It is a fun course - not Innisbrook but also not a muni.

My favorite course in Scottsdale. Conditions were awesome. It was a little cold and there was frost but it warmed up quick. Greens were awesome. The course has generous fairways but once you trickle off them, you are punching out. If you are going to miss, miss far right. It usually opens up!
Decent price, phenomenal range, restaurant is quaint.

Note: we had to get to the airport and was the first group out and finished in just under 3 hours. Very playable and fast.

The course is really fun to play. It is pricey considering they dial down the speed of the greens pre WM Open. I love the layout and the ambiance.

The experience wasn't worth the price but the last 4 holes are amazing. You always leave satisfied.

The pace was excellent. We teed off around 1 pm and still got in under 4 hours.

For all the forecaddies, the bunkers weren't in great conditions. For the price of mandatory FCs, there should not be a mis-raked bunker. FC did a good job.

Greens were okay - slower than the rest of the courses we played by alot (Southern Dunes, Talking Stick North)

Did the 36 hole package. It was a little chilly in December but the course was long but in phenomenal shape.

Will be back. For a traveler, it is a day's event in my mind. Play 36, hit up the casino.

Nothing too quirky which we liked.

Only two issues
-the range was down wind from a cow farm. We were clearly downwind. The course was fine though.
-tried to do a package with the Hotel but nobody responded to my request so stayed in Mesa. I am guessing this would be an amazing venue for a buddy weekend if you stayed at the casino.

Fantastic Greens. Played 4 other course and Talking Stick North was in the best shape. Fairways were pure - Green were fast and smooth. A couple of tough pins but that is part of the gig there. I am a MN guy that goes to Scottsdale to play good but not overly expensive golf - and Talking Stick North - especially on Golfnow is a great price (but not cheap) and a phenomenal price.
Wished I would have played it all 5 days.
