Teal Bend Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2021great course
Had not played the course in over 10 years and wish I had gone back sooner. It was in great condition; driving range is nice and lots of practice areas. Will be back.
Hiddenbrooke Golf Club

Beautiful day.............great conditions.........good pace of play
Chardonnay Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2016Beautiful course
Had a great time playing Chardonnay. I wish more courses had a (6) par 3's; (6) par 4's and (6) par 5's layout like this course. Much more interesting than playing a course with (5) par 4's in a row. It was a gorgeous day and the pace slowed down a bit at hole 14 as there were a bunch of twosomes playing in a row instead of teaming up to make 4somes to speed up a bit. Love the course and the waiter/waitresses at the 19th hole were great. Even the cart lady (Michelle) was amazing. Had a great time. Can't wait to go back.
Turkey Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/13/2014Great Course
Have played here before and generally I never play the course very well but this time most parts of my game were working and I shot my best score ever here; an 85. The course is in great shape and fortunately the weather was cooperative as it has been very hot here lately (over 100) but this day it was only 85. This is a very challenging course and I would not recommend it for beginners who are just starting to play and learn the game. There is a great practice area for chipping and bunker play on the far side of the driving range that you would miss if you did not know it was there. I always enjoyed playing this course even though it typically beats me down pretty good. Played with a twosome of young guys who were playing it for the first time and they were very impressed by the layout, conditions, maintenance and difficulty of the track. Love this place.
Cypress Lakes Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2014Prett windy
I knew by reading previous reviews of the course that there was a good chance of windy conditions; however, it was much windier than I thought it would be. It could be a hint of sadism but I actually enjoyed the aspect of playing in the wind for the first time in quite awhile. A few times it was a good two to three club wind in the face. It was pretty warm out so the wind was actually refreshing at times. Most of the water holes have dried up due to the dry conditions in northern California but I did find the lake next to the green on the par 3 11th when the wind pushed what originally looked like a good shot about 30 yards to the right into the water. Overall, I enjoyed myself in my 3 hour round but be prepared or some unusual conditions when you go to play here. A great value at golfnow rates. Great staff in pro shop and grill.
DarkHorse Golf Club
Played On 07/09/2014Gorgeous course
Was hoping to get away from the heat in the valley but going up the mountain a short was to Dark Horse in Auburn. Was a little disappointed in that it was still pretty hot but the course is incredible. Went as single and was paired up with a nice pair of guys. We played in just over four hours and did not have to wait to hit a single shot. It's a very challenging course that puts a premium on accuracy off of the tee. Greens were pretty quick but fair. Lost three balls during the round but found 21 while searching for mine or one of my playing partners. Had a great time and would definitely recommend this course (but not for beginners).
The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center
Played On 10/30/2013Robert Trent Jones Jr
The course designer's name says it all. This Trent Jones Jr course is very challenging yet fair. There are many short par 4's that are the true definition of risk-reward holes. The course is in great shape. The only negative comment would be all of the goose droppings on one of the greens on the back nine. Had a great time and played in less than 4 hours on a Wednesday afternoon. Would recommend to all who love playing a beautiful course that may increase your handicap.
Eighteen Hole at Green Tree Golf Club
Played On 10/2/2013Well layed out
I really enjoyed my afternoon at Green Tree. Played as a single and played two balls and never caught up to the group in front of me and never saw the group behind me after the 2nd hole. Played in less than three hours and had a great time. The greens were very receptive to approach shots which is always fun as the ball stayed pretty much right where it landed all day. Did have to repair extra ball marks on the green as not everyone was considerate fixing theirs but I had lots of time. Someone earlier in the day was dragging their feet on the greens as there were lots of dragging spike marks around the hole but could be tapped down. Guys is Pro Shop were very nice. Did not eat in Snack Bar but it appeared to be pretty busy in there. Would definitely go back and play again.
Swenson Golf at Swenson Park Golf Course
Played On 09/20/2013Great rate/pace of play
Enjoyed playing Swenson Park. It was the first time I have played it and the conditions were good and the pace of play was great. It appeared to be mostly twosomes on the course which was a little strange but there was virtually no waiting to hit each shot. I went on as a single and was partnered with a great young guy named Robert and we had a good time. If we had to wait to hit a shot it was only for a minute and we played the round (on a Friday afternoon) in slightly less than 4 hours. Some of the areas off of the fairway are pretty dry and the ball really took off on them but otherwise no complaints about the course. The lady in the Pro Shop was super friendly. Would play again.
Empire Ranch Golf Club
Played On 9/5/2013Less than 3.5 hour round
Really enjoy this golf course. Went as a single and was joined by another twosome and we played in less than three and a half hours. Greens were quicker than I thought they would be which was nice. Very smooth rolling greens. Hot days but there is lots of water on the course and the cart girl was by us four times which was also nice. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
The Lincoln Hills Golf Club - Orchard Course
Played On 7/24/2013always fun
I always enjoy playing either of the courses at Lincoln Hills. We played Orchard this time and zipped through the first 10 holes until we caught up to a few groups. Fairways and greens are in great shape. Seems the maintenance crew did not know the difference between the colored tee markers as the order was different on a lot of the holes. My partner and I were playing the blues so we knew we were the second set from the back but on a number of holes the white markers were there and on one hole the red markers (women's tee) was there. I had never seen that before. Love the course; challenging around the greens. Very easy to 3 putt if you leave yourself a long first one. Would highly recommend lagging to leave yourself something less than a tree footer. Gets pretty hot out there as there is limited shade. Bring lots of water in the summertime.
Whitney Oaks Golf Club
Played On 6/5/2013One of my favorite courses
Whitney Oaks has always been one of my favorites courses to play at even though it has always pretty much kicked my behind each time I've played it. The nice thing is that it has had some changes made which has made it a little easier. The course has been shortened a little bit with one of the par 5's now a shorter par 4. The greens were in great shape and were very smooth and true. Pace of play was great as it took a little under four hours for our 3some to play. Great burger at the Pyramid Grill after 9 homes. Was able to sit and eat it at the Grill without worrying about losing our place on the 10th tee as it was pretty quiet out there. Love this course even more now that it has been made a little less challenging. The 11th hole is probably one of the most difficult holes in the Sacramento area. Narrow fairway with little forgiveness on either side. Would recommend this course to anyone with the caveat that they don't mind shooting about 3-6 strokes over their handicap.
Diamond Oaks Municipal Golf Course
Played On 5/29/20133 hour round
Had a great time at Diamond Oaks. They are celebrating their 50th year in 2013. Beautiful day and the round took a little over three hours. Our 4some played pretty quickly but didn't need to as we were only caught up to by the group behind us on the 17th hole. Some trees are being pruned or cut down on a couple of homes but it was not an inconvenience. Greens were in great shape but some of the tee boxes were a little shabby. Overall a great course that does not have a whole lot of trouble if you are not hitting the ball straight. Great golfnow value.
Bass Lake Golf Course
Played On 5/22/2013Great Value
Had a great time playing this course. Not many people out there so was able to play 2 to 3 balls each hole and get a good amount of practice in. Did catch up to someone on the 10th hole so skipped two holes and then played the rest with no one else in sight. Greens are small and do not hold balls so play balls short and run them up. Incredible value for golfnow rate. I paid $11 with a cart and had a tee time of 12;14. They let me out as soon as I got there. Some very difficult holes requiring precise shots. Par 5's are short so you can score well on this course. Would play again.
Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/01/2013Pristine
What a gorgeous golf course. One of the absolutely nicest in the Sacramento area. Arrived early and was told I could go out whenever I wanted as there were a few singles on the course but it was otherwise empty. Played by myself and played two balls all day and the entire round took just under three hours. Greens are smooth and pretty quick. The rough is pretty thick it you hit a shot poorly but otherwise the course is very fair. Got quite a bit of run on the fairways which was a help as I am not a long hitter. Played from the white tees which shortens the course as the longer tees are quite a bit longer. Would recommend this course to anyone. A little bit of home construction going on but they are custom homes and not a huge subdivision development being built so it was actually quite peaceful out there. Would play again in a heartbeat with golfnow rates.
Crystal Springs Golf Course
Played On 4/26/2013Beautiful
It was a beautiful Spring day at Crystal Springs. The course is in good condition; the only negative was that the tee boxes must have been punched recently as there were numerous holes and you had to find a solid spot for your tee. The layout is very challenging as the course is built on hills so there are few even lies unless you are smack dab in the middle of the fairway. Greens are large and very challenging. They played very fast that day. Had a group in front of us that was very slow (out as they were only a 2some) which made the round take over 4 hours; otherwise I believe we could have played it in 3 and a half. Love the course. Need to putt well to score well. Focus on getting first putt close enough for a tap in as all of the comebackers are pretty slick. Some previous reviews I had read prior to playing stated that the maintenance was sub-par; I saw none of this reflected in the course. Staff was very nice too but they can use some extra help in the restauraut. The snack shack between the 9th green and 10th tee had a very nice lady working in it. A nice chat before teeing off on 10. Play this course if you can get the golfnow rate. Great value.
Alta Sierra Country Club
Played On 4/17/2013Spectacular
Phenomenal course. One of my favorites already. Redwood lined fairways virtually throughout the course. Fairways are wide enough so that even slight mishits are still not in the tree line where you would have to chip out. Have already recommended this to all of my friends. Course is now semi-private with the public being able to play in the afternoon. Don't know if this applies to weekends also as I played on a Wednesday. Played in slightly less than 4 hours and had a wonderful time. A little off the beaten path being nearly in Grass Valley but well worth the trip. Pay attention to signs (both arriving and leaving) as it is a bit off of Highway 49 in a residential neighborhood. Cannot emphasize enough that this is a great course and should be played by all members of golfnow who live in the nearby areas.
Eighteen at Bing Maloney Golf Course
Played On 04/02/2013great for short game
Course is a 9 hole Executive layout with 7 par 3's and 2 par 4's. The par threes range from 75 to 150 yards and the par four's were each about 260 yards. The greens are on the small side but are very challenging. They were fast and very smooth. That was the best part of the course. I truly believe that the greens on the Executive Course are more challenging than the greens on the regulation 18 hole course in the same development. Pace of play was great; I played two balls and still played in less than an hour. That was even with other people on the course and never needed to play through anyone. Would definitely play it again when I wanted to practice on my putting.
Antelope Greens Golf Course
Played On 3/3/2013Great value
Played on Sunday afternoon and the pace of play was nice. Great value for golf.now price paid. Tee boxes were not great but greens and fairways were good. Would play again for similar golf.now price.
Woodcreek Golf Club
Played On 10/29/2012Well Maintained
Had great day out on the course. Went as a single and was paired with three others who were very nice. Pace of play was good (just over 4 hours). Course is in good shape.
