Great course

Things were still wet from all the rain but the course was very playable. The damage from this summer’s weather was not as evident here as many other courses. Greens in great shape and fairways in good shape. Some tee boxes are being repaired and there is some damage near the greens and fairways, but it is minimal. There was a beverage cart on the course and good food after the round in the clubhouse. Very accommodating staff. The course layout is wonderful here and that hasn’t changed.

Fun and challenging course

I enjoy playing this course. It requires accuracy to score low, but is not unfair. The woods, hills, rolling terrain, and varying lengths of the holes keep things interesting. You can lose some golf balls here. Some of the Par 4’s are a bit long for an older player like me. The greens were in excellent shape, especially for this time of year, but the fairways were dormant and a recent windstorm had strewn small branches in many places. So, some of the fairway lies were a bit rough. A cafe style restaurant is located at the course. Overall, great staff and great course for the money. Try it,

Nice course, friendly staff, good value

This course is an interesting and enjoyable layout. Usually in great shape, as it was this time also. Staff are great, good snack bar, and comfortable pace of play. A very good value. My only, minor complaint relates to the time of year...there were fallen leaves in the fairways so it was often difficult to find your ball even after a quality shot to the middle of the fairway. Perhaps they do not have the high power leaf blowers to clear the leaves from the fairways. You will enjoy this course. Give it a try.

Keeps getting better

This course has been steadily improving over the years. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in excellent shape. The rough is lush and penal if you find the deep stuff. The layout is challenging but it is a good walking course if you care to do that. Very hard to get more value for your money. Just two small complaints. The paved cart paths have annoying cracks in places just deep enough to be jarring as you drive over them...pretty much all along the course. Holes 3, 4 and 5 can be a bit of a traffic jam with hazards and difficult greens sometimes slowing play. Overall, a great place for golf.

Lovely, well-maintained course but slow play

This course is always in good shape. It is very playable, but not without challenges such as some blind shots and narrow openings. The greens are fairly straightforward but subtle breaks can confuse the read. Great staff and a good value. There is no water on this course but sand bunkers and thick rough add to the challenge. My complaint this day was the glacial pace of play, which is perhaps unfair as I was a single and did finish in four hours. That said, there was a group of three older players (and I am 69) in front that were painfully slow, holding up a twosome in front of me, myself, and a twosome behind me. No one was in front of them and they did not invite anyone through. At one point all three of us groups were behind them on one hole. No marshall there to scoot them along. Regardless, I recommend this nice course.

Good conditions, nice layout & staff, some poor etiquette

Very friendly staff and a nice course layout. Well maintained, although some teeing areas had hard ground. Great value for the price. I played solo and came upon a slower group of two players who invited me through. Later in the second nine I came upon a group of four struggling players who were much slower. They never invited me through and I followed them from Hole 13 to Hole 18 waiting, sometimes five minutes, on every shot. Hole 18 is a blind tee shot, so I drove to the crest of the hill to be sure the slow group in front of me was out of range, had to wait several minutes for them, then went back to the tee and hit my drive. Then, just after hitting my approach shot to the green, a ball sailed just a few feet over my head landing in front of me. A single player behind me had hit his drive without ever checking to see if it was clear. Very nearly struck me. So, yes, go play the course, but be prepared for slow play and perhaps a dangerous shot from behind you.

Aging not so gracefully

I like this course and have played it several times over the past 10 years. It is a bit of a drive for me (an hour) and usually a bit too pricey, but I found a good deal on Last Minute Golfer and took it. My recollection was of an immaculately maintained course, but I found it rough around the edges this time. Areas around the greens were trodden and worn and the rough was patchy and inconsistent in many spots. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. I enjoyed the challenge, but was disappointed in the course conditions.

Attractive course, great staff, good condition and value.

Second time playing this course. No cart path restrictions now. Conditions were ideal and the players assistant nudged along a slow group that was a couple holes ahead of us as well as kept us informed. Well done. Enjoyable place to play and a accommodating staff. Nice bar for drink or food after the round.

Good course, nice staff & restaurant/pub - bit of slow play

I like this course. Well laid out and plenty of challenge if you want it. Good course conditions. Very positive and friendly staff. It was packed the day we played, but we moved along nicely until the 13th hole, when things backed up for some reason. Maybe we finally caught up to a slow group somewhere ahead. This was my third time playing Sundance and I enjoyed all three occasions. Good pub afterward for a beer and a bite to eat.

Always a fun place and recent improvements

Course is in great shape, fairways, rough and greens. The teeing ground, however, is less than great on many holes. Friendly staff, good carts, and nice pace of play.

Used to be a bit confusing working your way around the three nines with intersecting cart paths but they have painted brightly colored arrows now on the cart paths at key locations directing you to the next tee box for the nine-hole course you are playing. Easy to navigate.

The sand bunkers seemed better than they used to be with more uniform sand texture and depth.

I had lots of fun with the other three players I was paired with by the starter.

Holes renumbered and tee markers changed

Nice course, but you have to be OK with some blind shots, difficult holes, and uncomfortable looks as you stand on the teeing ground. Well maintained with a thick and sticky rough, good greens with a few exceptions for a small hole here and there on the putting surface (insects?).

They have switched the front and back nines so the former #1 hole is now #10 and the former #10 is now #1. The tee markers are now Red, White, and Blue versus the old Gold, Black and Green. My Garmin did not have the updated routing and the scorecards still show the old layout, but the hole numbering on the scorecard was overwritten by hand. Apparently, they are waiting for the new scorecards to arrive.

Nice staff and a fun course. The slope was lowered from 140 to 128 for the set of tees I played and I am unsure if that is accurate. I think it is more like 130-135. In any case, a good track and an enjoyable round.

Course layout and conditions poor

Nice staff and a great restaurant & bar for after golf. The course has several holes that run parallel and close to each other. As a result, golfers hit into you from the adjacent fairway. Lots of water, but it is full of algae and is smelly. There are flocks and flocks of resident geese and coots, and their droppings are everywhere, including on some of the greens.

Worth the Greens Fee

Varied layout with a blend of easier and more difficult holes that include some blind shots, some sloping fairways, some Par 4 tee shots where driver may not be the best club, and a variety of flat, uphill, downhill, and side hill lies. Fun to play and in surprisingly good shape except for some greens that have areas of fungus causing bumpy rolls if you must putt across them. An interesting and enjoyable layout with a friendly staff and a modest bar for beverages or food. Few homes along the course but they don't detract from the experience. Also, some forced carries and a few teeing areas are a bit close to the previous greens. Overall, definitely worth it.

Great greens, tight fairways, blind shots

In all fairness, I was struggling with a left-pull tendency that resulted in many balls going into trouble. That said, this course has less than generous fairways in width and many blind shots. I had never played the course before and the front and back nines were reversed on my Garmin Approach GPS. I guessed at many of the club selections, and not always correctly. I missed a lot of fairways and lost several golf balls. From the back tees, which I played (they are Red, by the way...different), there were several forced carries of 150 - 200 yards...consider that in your tee selection process.

The fairways are well-maintained and the greens are in super shape. The tee boxes, however, were hard and in poor condition.

The course has character, elevation changes and doglegs galore. Some of the greens are tucked away surrounded by trees on three sides. One hole has two creeks running across it that must be negotiated and another has a very steep uphill fairway to an elevated green. So it is definitely not a vanilla-flavored layout.

I was disappointed that I was not allowed to walk the course, but instead was required to use a golf cart. It would have been a challenging, but rewarding walk.

This golf course is in a community, and on some holes the houses border the fairway. On one tee shot, I could easily listen to the cell phone conversation of a woman on her back yard deck.

Overall, a decent track. To score well accuracy and directional control are a must.

Scenic course with a comfortable feel

Cold day. Had difficulty getting the tee peg into the ground. The course was in super shape otherwise. There are 18 holes (Rock Course) with another 18 under construction (Boulder Course), so you will see some equipment and non-golfing personnel on the premises, but they did not interfere with play. It is an hour and fifteen minute drive to this course for me, but worth it for the great playing condition and views. Friendly, small pro shop and nice grille for a bite to eat in a modest building with convenient parking. The fairways are open enough on many holes to be fair, but there are also the more challenging holes, including an island green Par 3, sharp doglegs, elevated greens with blind landing areas, and risk-reward holes. On the quirky side, there is one tee box that uses artificial turf as it is constructed along the side of a water feature that you hit over on your tee shot. Hard to set your tee peg to the desire height there. This is a good course and, for the price, a great value. Eager to see the Boulder 18 when it opens.

Just a solid, well-maintained course

This course, like it's less difficult sister course, The Lakes, is consistently well-maintained. It challenges you without overwhelming you, although the first two holes are demanding. Number 1 is a Par 5 that requires precision to avoid double-bogey or worse and Number 2 is a long Par 4 that demands a good bit of carry on the tee shot from the middle or back tees and a longish second shot into the green. From there the course is a bit more forgiving but not a pushover. The fairways and greens were in great condition and the leaves were blown off to the sides of the rough, so accurate shots were rewarded but errant ones could result in a lost ball under the leaves in the woods. Scenic and pleasant to play, this course is definitely worth the money. Nice Pro Shop and snack bar, too.

Great course - tough greens

Played Westfields yesterday after an absence of several years. Used to be too expensive for me but the price through GolfNow has made it affordable again. Still the same Private Club feel, with a welcoming staff, courteous service, great layout, and nice clubhouse. One criticism, some tee boxes are close to the previous green. In one instance, while we were preparing to tee off, a ball hit our cart from an approach shot that overflew the previous green.

The course is no pushover. Narrowing fairways in spots with slope and elevation changes resulting in some blind shots and sideways bounces. The greens were especially tough, I thought. It was difficult to stop the ball, even with a lofted shot, and the breaks were subtle which, combined with the fast greens, magnified even slight miscalculations in your putt alignment or stroke. Well maintained except for some of the sand bunkers, which were not groomed. They were working hard to keep the leaves off the fairways and greens and did a good job of that. It is a beautiful course worth playing.

Beautiful and in good shape, despite Sandy

This course is a scenic and challenging layout, and a workout if you choose to walk and carry your bag. I did that and finished in three hours, as the course was not crowded when I played. There are significant elevation changes, sand and water hazards, some blind shots, and greens that require a good read. Despite the recent Hurricane Sandy, which dropped 6 - 8" of water in this area Sunday through Wednesday, the course was in good shape when I played it in Friday. Always a great course for the views, conditioning, and challenges, it is not overly punitive and a bargain for the price. I keep going back, even though it is over an hour's drive from my home.

Almost back to previous stellar track status

I played this course after it initially opened and it was among the best in the area. At each tee box you would think to yourself that this must be the signature hole...they all looked that good. Plenty of challenge without being unfair and with fast and undulating greens. Then it went downhill and became literally unplayable. Recently it has been restored. I played it in the spring and it was not quite back to form. This last time, in the fall, it is very close to being back. A truly beautiful course with a decent range and putting area and good clubhouse. It played quickly as there were few others out that day. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Challenges and blind shots in a hilly parkland setting

Great course if you like a challenge and can accept the occasional lost ball after a blind shot. Course was adequately maintained, in a visually attractive setting, with lots of variety in the layout from fairly level holes to ones that climb and descend, turn and cross hazards. Some shots have narrow openings, some are blind, and some have significant elevation changes. To score low you will need to be accurate as to distance and direction. The greens are not especially large, are undulating, and played slower than I anticipated. The scenery was beautiful with all the fall colors in the trees and the maintenance staff did a great job of keeping the fairways clear of leaves. Pace of play was great as the course was not crowded. Without rushing, I finished in less than 3+1/2 hours. Lots of fun to play this course if you are not flustered by the challenge.
