Awesome conditions given it’s the middle of January!

Initially, I was booked to play Jan 21st. I was very appreciative of the fact that the proshop called to cancel early in the day of - so I inadvertently didn’t drive to the course only to be disappointed. I re-booked for Jan 22nd when conditions were great… they do winter NE golf right here. Pins are rotated between two holes. Fairways were reasonably dry with good quality turf. Goose poop was the only undesirable feature in some places - though I do like the wild life on the course including the geese. $35 green fees seemed a fair price to be able to play in January. Despite the course being full, the pace of play was reasonable (4 hour round).

Simply Awesome

Despite recent rain and snow, the course was in great shape! Great layout! Great pace of place! Not many amenities this time of year, but golf in late December in New England is a bonus. At $38 it was a great value. Good walking course!

Conditions were extraordinary for Nov 27th in New England. I was pleased to be allowed to walk - and played it in just over 3 hours! Suprinsigly few people out. At $77 on golf now, a real deal!

Great Fall Golf!

I played after days of rain which had led to flooding of many areas just the previous night. The course had a few puddles, but none of the interfered with my round. Cart path only made sense - but what does not makes sense is charging those of us who prefer to walk the same rate! The fact that my receipt priced in the cart fee ($16:00) for the cart I did not take was annoying adding insult to injury. In the larger scheme of things it is one of the tougher courses to walk, and the vast majority will prefer a cart for this hilly course with significant walks (drives) between holes. The $82 I spent is still a better deal then comparable courses next door, but it just doesn’t make sense to charge walkers the same rate as riders! Even so, I strongly recommend these courses to any reasonably experienced golfer. Likely a bit much for a beginner!

Awesome Day Golfing - Great Course! (However, customer service less than par

The weather was a bit damp, and this resulted in us having to follow a cart path only rule after initially being told we would be using the 90 degree rule by the starter (who checked with the clubhouse - but not the superintendent). The course conditions were excellent - though some greens still showed evidence of having been aerated at least a couple of weeks ago. The greens rolled true for the most part. The layout was interesting, varied and challenging. I will play here every chance I get! We our threesome was done in 3 3/4 hours. And the price was right - a great value!

While the staff were generally friendly, customer service left some room for improvement. There were no carts out when I arrived at 7:00 am for a 7:30 starting time. After checking in I was told more than once that I would have to walk back around the building to retrieve a cart… a pretty minor thing, but given the place was quiet it seemed like an opportunity to cater to this customer - who gets out to Grafton from Boston only a couple of times a year… who knows, it may have even inclined me to put something in the tips bucket when I dropped the cart back at the drop off. As it was, it seemed kind of cheesy to have a tips container there without an attendant. But I guess this is how they roll at Highfields.

Great Course! Lame course managers

The course is in great shape tee to green. A bit pricey, especially if you prefer walking! Starter was unfriendly and minimally communicative. There was lnadequate communication from him about a delay in starting. It turned out to be about a 15 min delay. When he reviewed information about the course he spoke so fast and monotone that we were left receiving inadequate information. Another course attendant (ranger?) who’d seemed to have parked himself at the snack shop at the 7th tee watched us wait to tee off on that hole - then proceeded to insist we request a cart at the turn (the implication was that we were slowing the pace down as walkers). It was in fact the group in front of us that had fallen at least a hole or two behind… when we explained this and the fact that we preferred to walk, he told us we should take the cart because we’d already paid for it (adding insult to injury). My buddy and I kept up the entire day walking. Instead of being inappropriately pressed to take a cart - we should hzz as be been offered a reduced fee. Cart fees should not be charged to those of us walking. Additionally, the ranger should have assessed the situation before making the assumption that it was the two walkers who were slowing things down. After paying $115 to play, one expects the course managers to demonstrate some competence and warmth. They showed neither. The lady behind the counter in the pro shop was in fact both competent and welcoming. I won’t be returning soon, and if you’re prefer walking you should think twice about playing here!

Sub-Par experience

Perhaps it’s COVID related, and weather related, but the conditions really sucked - tee to green. I’ve played here for years, but never seen the course so poorly cared for. No water on course. No beverage cart. On a positive note, there was sand in the bunkers. The greens needed to be cut and rolled and were covered with dew well into the late morning. The did not roll roll true and we’re covered in blemishes. Cut grass covered the fairways and rough, and the golf shoes had to be constantly cleaned of the thick wet grass. Very disappointing and not worth the $64 that is charged walkers on weekends. I don’t plan to return soon!

Frozen

Despite playing in 27 - 30 degree weather today, the course was a joy. Holes have not been moved in weeks sold loose in the ground, It was just good to get out and play! I played entire round with hybrid which I recommend when ground is frozen as it helps me focus on feel. Ty he course under these conditions becomes more of a ground game as fairways and greens react to ball as if they were a cart path (or pool table). Staff always friendly and warm

Pristine Conditions!

Unbelievably pristine conditions deep into November. A fair price ($75 bucks includes cart) and pace of play was great. Practice balls available. Great walking weather - though a bit of a workout.

The Good The Bad And The Ugly

The Good includes the small and well-maintained greens which were quick and challenging to read. The layout is filled with many interesting holes, none more so then the 220 yard second hole which is a par 4! There are a number of hazards, including but not limited to water Which can come as a surprise to the first time player. I found the staff warm and welcoming. Overall, the weekend walking rate at $40/loop was a good value. The course is flat and easy to walk with consistently short distances between greens and tees with the notable exception at the turn

The Bad and The Ugly includes the netting that borders the driving range and accompanied you down holes # 1 and #10. The walk through the parking lot between #9 and # 10 is unfortunate. As the 10th tee is tucked behind the dumpsters of a large hotel. Once your back on the course,, the aesthetics are more pleasing but the location of the course on a busy thoroughfare is perhaps is to my mind its most unappealing feature. While the fairways were not blanketed with a homogenous lush strain of grass, they were more then playable If you allowed yourself to play wi tee rules and bump the ball a few inches to give yourself the lie you have earned by hitting the surprisingly narrow fairways.

As a 4 handicap golfer, I had a great time and found the layout great fun. I look forward to when I get to play it again!

A mixed golf adventure....

We teed off at 6 am. Played front 9 in a comfortable 1.5 hours. Unique, fun track with few flat lies or straight holes. Greens had been sanded aerated a couple of days earlier. Ten dollars was subtracted from the daily rate, which seemed only fair.

The most annoying, and seemingly avoidable negative part of the day was the discovery at the turn of 9 hole golfer jamming the course leading to a 2.5 hour back nine... it was a beautiful day, but the waits really disappointed!

I’ll end with on a positive note:: the ready to go sausage and egg sandwich was comforting at the turn and the staff were all pleasant and gracious.

Tax Day Golf at Seascape

I’m a 6 handicap golfer and play at Seascape periodically. Reading recent reviews I was a bit apprehensive - due to recent reviews which suggested it was still to wet to play. The rough was US Open tough but the fairways were dry. They were a bit littered with leaves a freshly cut grass. I teed off at 7:00 am so the morning dew made everything superficially wet. The greens were shaggy long and needed cutting. I walked the course and was done in less than 3 hours. Things dried up by halfway through the round. I enjoyed the layout and found the conditions more than acceptable. Thankfully, I ended up in only one bunker. The status of most bunkers was quite poor and should be a priority for management!

Afternoon of peace and quiet

Great track replete with memorable and varied holes. It was quiet and I had the place to myself. Conditions were excellent despite California drought... Edges of course are rough and cart paths in places are cracking with the inevitable movement of the earth around the hilly landscape. Traps were in especially poor condition with more of a packed clay then sand... Definitely a great value and fun track. Highly recommend!

I am a 5 handicapper and really enjoy playing this course.

I've played this course about 10 times. It is a great lay out and very challenging. I recall hearing that when it is in the ATT mix, it is one of the most challenging. It is in the process of being renovated as of February of 2013 with big piles of sand/earth on at least of couple of holes (9 and 14). Every hole is unique and has its own challenges. I especially like the par fives which present excellent risk - reward choices. Par threes vary between relatively short and long. Not a course for a beginner! Condition of greens was poor due to patches of what appeared to be dead areas on several greens... Otherwise in great condition for winter!

Best value for the money in Monterey area.

I took my 14 year old son to Monterey Pines, as a warm up to some of the other courses in the Monterey area. It is flat and easy to walk. Conditions were excellent despite playing in the middle of Winter. The staff in the pro-shop, and the starter were especially friendly! The prices were from a by-gone era (15 bucks for 18 holes on golf now on a Friday early afternoon!). Interesting lay-out with a few extra par 3s than a typical championship course. I enjoyed watching the private jets take off just northwest of the golf course...
