The Beaufort Club
Played On 05/24/2019Nice tract with challenging approach shots
Played in very windy conditions. Only had time to play front nine. Very nice course with challenging approach shots to most holes. I normally walk, but took cart since green to next tee distances are large. Pro shop staff were very friendly. Grill staff also friendly and excellent; great lunch too.
Raleigh Golf Association
Played On 06/10/2016Great, fun layout, excellent shape, good pace of play
While RGA is not the longest or most challenging tract in the Raleigh area, it is a fun layout and was in superb shape - greens, fairways and tees all excellent. Walked and played 18 in 3 and a half hours. Course had many groups that were keeping up the pace of play. Good green complexes. Course is totally in front of you - no quirky holes. Great for working on your game and fair for beginners too. Should get even better with McConnell Golf running the course for foreseeable future.
The Neuse Golf Club
Played On 06/09/2016Great conditions, quirky layout, very slow pace of play
Went to play 18. Got to first tee to find 2 groups waiting to go off, 20 minutes past their tee times, and learned that the course had just let a shotgun event go off on the course before all our tee times. This slowed everything down to a crawl. Took almost 3 hours to play front nine. Elected to stop playing after that. Course in excellent shape, but the layout is truly quirky. Very severe up and down hill holes. Many blind shots. Some long distances between greens and next tees, making this really not a walkers course. Great driving range and putting green. Will not go back.
The Omni Grove Park Inn
Played On 05/03/2016Great course
Played this classic Donald Ross design after two days of torrential rains. It was wet, but draining well. Terrific, classic Ross course. Fabulous views of the surrounding mountains and Grove Park Inn above the course. You can feel the history as you play. Ross, Jones, Presidents and so many others have played here. Greens recently aerated and coming along nicely. Walked and pushed my cart. Front is not flat, and has good sized hills as you climb uphill from 5th thru 9th holes. Back nine is extremely hilly, so be ready for the ups and downs, especially the ups. Makes 385 yard holes play like 450+ uphill. Not sure if the scorecard reflects the true yardages - my GPS was telling me the course from the Black tees was much longer, so take a GPS/rangefinder to check your yardages and adjust accordingly, especially uphill. Great, friendly staff. Must go to the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn post round for a drink and the magnificent views.
Pine Hollow Golf Course
Played On 08/12/2015nice tract but slow pace of play
First time playing this course. Tees and fairways in very good shape. Most fairways are very wide - too wide in my opinion. Greens still recovering from aeration and sanding but were good. Pace of play was too slow - over 4.5 hours. Par 3s define this course and require good shots to make par or better. Greens are very undulating and will be slick after they grow back in. #14 is a quirky hole, so be ready to hit a big cut off tee to play it. #17 is the signature hole - play right of left fairway bunker off tee and hit crisp approach to narrow entrance to the green surrounded by water. Course is undulating, OK to walk, but there are several lengthy green to next tee gaps, so know that if you are walking. Look forward to playing again.
Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 08/11/2015great greens and course doing well in the rain
Walked and played 18 in a light but steady rain. Greens really nice. Entire course in very good condition and handled the rain well today. Played in 3.5 hours.
UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 07/28/2015great course but very slow pace of play
Great course in great shape. Unfortunately played 9 behind foursome that had almost 2 holes open in front of them. Took almost 3 hours to play nine. Rangers should have made them skip a hole or two, or leave.
We are sorry to hear the group you played behind that caused a slower pace of play but happy to hear everything else was great. Please email me directly at michelleteetimes@gmail.com
Raleigh Golf Association
Played On 07/21/2015nice course slow greens
Played RGA for the first time. Very scenic tract, in nice shape (tees and fairways are Bermuda; terrain is rolling, not flat), greens are bent grass) but greens are very slow. I think the course must have to keep the greens long in this very hot, humid weather (97 yesterday with heat advisory). First 13 holes are fun. Last 5 are the most demanding and over undulating, hilly terrain. Nice staff. Recommend playing.

Played On 05/18/2015nice pace of play; excellent greens & bunkers
Lochmere's greens and green complexes are in truly excellent shape. They are not lightning fast, but they are fast enough, demanding, and fun to play on. Bunkers are also very good. Most of the course is growing in nicely after the tough winter. Great warmup/practice area. Very friendly, helpful staff. This course may not the longest tract in the area, but it requires you shape and hit the correct shots to score. Great course to play to improve or refine your game.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University
Played On 05/14/2015Great facilities and staff; course not in good shape
Was really looking forward to playing after walking the course during the 2014 NCAA regional men's tourney. Course was in excellent shape last year. Course today was in very poor condition. Many brown, dead fairways and collars around the greens. Greens are fast but thin and don't look very good. Don't know if severe winter is to blame but this course has a long way to get back to where it was last year. For reference purposes, I have played many top courses in superb shape including Baltusrol and Bethpage Black, and this course today is in need of a lot of work to improve its condition.

Played here for 3rd time this year. Course is in very nice shape after a tough winter and recent heavy rain. Layout is very good, tight, but fair if you hit the shots. Greens in very good shape. Fairways similar to Pinehurst #2 this week. Nice practice area to warm up before you play. Pace of play could be quicker.
