Bent Tree Country Club
Played On 04/04/2023HOT Day at Bent Tree
It was a very hot day at Bent Tree however, we we're grateful for a nice cooling breeze. Played this course several times during the Winter season and it's fine for a $42.00 Hot Deal. The staff is friendly and helpful. There has been no rain in 3 months in the area; the tee boxes were in terrible shape. All sand and dirt however, even with complete absence of rain the fairways had decent grass and growth. The greens were very good, ran at a fair pace and quite true. This a decent layout with several challenging holes that can become even more difficult with windy conditions. Since many of the tourists visiting and snowbirds had departed, we played with friends as a foursome in under 4 hours and it was great. Hopefully, they will remove all the large fallen trees and trunks from the hurricane and it will still be available at a decent price next Winter season.
The Club at River Wilderness
Played On 03/22/2023The Club at River Wilderness
This was our third round at The Club at River Wilderness of our Winter season. The ProShop staff are always very welcoming and friendly. We enjoy this layout as it provides interesting holes with water that meanders throughout and into play on many of the 18 holes. This is not a course for beginner golfers! It is a decent test of golf skills, and plays far more difficult when the usual winds are up. This time it was a very hot day with no wind. There has been no rain since mid January so the fairways were dry and crispy. The greens run fast and true however, the bunkers are really in need of new sand. Unfortunately, we were a twosome behind a bunch of foursomes, who thought they were on the PGA Tour and so it was a hot long 4 hr 40 min round.
Tatum Ridge Golf Links
Played On 03/14/2023Never Again - Terrible Pace of Play & Conditions
We played this course last year, found it in reasonable conditions and had a decent experience then. This time, the front nine was all very dried out, all tee boxes were dirt sand and most of the fairways were in terrible condition. Surprisingly the greens were green and rolled relatively okay. Luckily, the back nine was in better condition with green fairways and continued decent greens. The lack of rain could be attributed to some of the dry conditions, however, why was the back nine in much better condition then the front? The on course bathrooms are the most disgusting ever encountered! Holes in walls; toilettes that didn't flush; broken urinals/toilettes and full of other peoples "business". Clearly, management does not care to maintain it. It was warm yet, no drinking water available on the course!
The pace of play was horrible.....it took 5 hours to play with no ranger whatsoever on the course. Groups were booked too close together and people who had no business being on an 18 hole golf course....t-shirts, gym shorts, and they were all over the course, having never or rarely played golf. Staff is friendly, however, they didn't care, seeing who was checking in even after one fellow started a screaming argument with the starter refusing to check in with his cart. We know it's the busy season however, there were at least 6 staff employees, with no one caring to keep things moving or inline. There is more to comment about the worse golf experience in Florida however, simply put, we will never be returning to this course.
The Club at River Wilderness
Played On 03/08/2023Second Round at The River Club
We enjoy this layout and all Staff we have encountered have always been friendly.
NOTE: This is NOT/NOT a course for beginner golfers. It requires a moderate skill to play and hit the ball straight with some distance. It's more difficult when it's windy and it gets windy there. Lots of water hazards to navigate; right and left so please, pick up and don't search for balls, as there are plenty of alligators. The greens may look slow however, they are a nice speedy pace and run relatively true. The fairways were in decent shape considering the lack of rain for many weeks. Many of the tee boxes were dirt with no green spots to place your tee. The pace was messed up due to many twosomes permitted out. The starter was able to pair groups in the middle of the round, which helped just a bit. Watching people playing off the wrong tees, searching for balls that had sailed well into water, placing carts in wrong spots and putting like you're on a Pro Tour is painful! Please, on all golf courses keep up with the group in front and pick-up when you are at past two shots over par and not yet, on the green! Paid $48.00 Hot Deal for afternoon round and that is max from our perspective.
Bent Tree Country Club
Played On 03/01/2023One More Round at Bent Tree
This was our fourth round at Bent Tree. We play it mainly due to the reasonable Hot Deal price $52.00 for the course, layout, conditions and proximity. Greens are okay however, are getting a bit bumpy; fairways are in decent shape but, the bunkers are dirt sand. Staff was friendly and starter trying to accommodate many folks, got the course backed up by letting too many twosomes out rather than playing in foursomes with their designated tee time group, or pairing them up. This causes pace issues; such as the single set to play with us he put with a group in front of us making it a foursome, rather than two groups of three players; caused us to wait too many minutes on every single hole and every shot. On the back nine we had to skip a hole or we'd be there until dark! If you want to play just as a twosome.... please, don't book during busy times; it's golf and meeting folks is a unique part of its enjoyment.
Bent Tree Country Club
Played On 02/23/2023Another Round at Bent Tree
We've played the course on two previous occasions and this time they didn't have carts for afternoon arrivals. It was a very busy day; three sets of foursomes waiting on the first tee! The, starter should hold people back until it's close to tee time; but, he didn't care and not so friendly. The bag drop and cart back shop fellows were very busy yet, kind to address any client concerns. After 20 plus minutes, we got our cart. It was a very slow start and then over 20 minutes at the dog leg 7th hole tee box.. Three groups waiting. Of course no ranger at all. Play the hole as designed, and likely a better score in result; play past the 150 marker and if you can't reach the green, with water hazard in front; lay up short of the water and pitch up onto the green. If you go in, don't search for the ball, pitch up or pick up and move on. Yes, sounds simple however, it is. We're not on tour! Gratefully, it was a very good paced back nine and finished at 4 hours. Wonderful! Bent Tree is in decent conditions however, I hope they remove some of the large over turned trees. Price paid was $46.00 that's the max I'd pay for this course.
Bent Tree Country Club
Played On 02/07/2023Second Round at Bent Tree
It was our second round at Bent Tree and with the first round we found this course in good/decent conditions. The staff are very kind and welcoming. The greens are slower than our preference however, they run true. The fairways are in good conditions and provide fair landing areas for higher handicappers. The bunkers are unfortunately, a gray heavy dirt/sand. Difficult to play a normal sand shot....chipping it out provided a better outcome. The price with some credits makes it a reasonable place to play. Thus, playing it again next week.
Bent Tree Country Club
Played On 02/07/2023First Play at Bent Tree
This was our first occasion to play Bent Tree. We were nicely greeted by the female starter directly while walking up to the Pro Shop. She was quick to check us in and advise with whom we were paired to play. The fairways were in very good condition and the greens though slightly slower than what we'd prefer, they ran true and were also in good condition. Sadly, the hurricane took out some large majestic trees which the course is still trying to remove. They didn't affect our play however, we could visualize how much more visually impressive the fairway layouts would be with those trees. The 7th hole is a sharp dogleg right with a creek or water hazard just in front of a tucked left elevated green. Best way to play the hole is to ensure you aim at the 150 yard marker and go past it by no more than 50 yards, otherwise if you go right you are blocked out by dense trees and too far left an awkward approach shot in. We enjoyed playing this course and are booked to play it again next week. The course pricing at $52 is still much however, it seems all courses are raising prices regardless of the quality or condition of the course.
Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 01/31/2023Great 1st Round at Waterlefe
This is one of our most favourite golf courses in the area. The greens and course are always in good conditions. The greens were not as quick as we've played them before however, are quite speedy despite that they look slow. This is not a course for a beginner or once a month player. This is a great test of golf, if you can't get on the green in 2 shots over regulation per hole, then please don't play it or otherwise don't hold others up....pick-up. and move on. I would not play it anytime past 1:30 as the bugs on the back nine are too thick and disruptive to focus on three of the most difficult holes on the course. Looking forward to go back to play however, not at $75 or plas rate.
The Club at River Wilderness
Played On 01/25/2023Windy Day at Club River Wilderness
We play this course a few times during our Winter stay in the area. The layout is decent and challenging. It was a very gusty windy day and the course played longer. The greens are a good fast pace however, the fairways are in need of better maintenance with many areas patchy with sand and no growth. We do our best to fill every divot that others failed to do, while waiting for groups. If everyone did the same, it would help; including fixing ball marks on greens! The bunkers are the worst in the area. It's a dark gray heavy sand that you should avoid bunkers at all costs. Staff is always friendly and receptive.
Rosedale Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/12/2022Very Dry Conditions
We always enjoy playing Rosedale during the winter season. It has a good layout with a wonderful back nine. The staff at bag drop, in the Pro Shop and bar were and have always been professional and welcoming. Unfortunately, on the day we played the course was very dry with areas seriously damaged due to lack of watering and rainfall. It was sad to see a good layout with tee boxes and large areas of fairways dried out so much you could hear crunch sounds, when walking or riding on them. The greens were much slower than usual, which logically without watering they could not cut as usual. The hot deal rate was $62.00, which is the maximum it should be even in good conditions. From mid Jan to early April on a hot deal far too much over $85 for early afternoon rates. Coral Hospitality which owns several courses, are trying to make up for the last 2 years and keep certain golfers off the course. Recommend the course but, not at $85 plus for an afternoon tee time.

Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 04/05/2022Great Windy Day
Waterlefe is one of our most favorite courses in the area. We play it as often as the Hot Deals are available. The course is almost always in great maintained condition. Thus far this Winter season we have not had any issue with pace of play. It's not/not a beginner or high handicapper course. You need you good golf game and at times (depending on the wind) to play conservatively to get your best shot at greens. Example, the16th hole fools you into wanting to hit a big tee shot when in fact you need to hit a precision shot toward the right of the left bunkers and ensuring to carry the water on the right for a view of the small green, which is surrounded by water hazards. Would play this course every day if prices were affordable.
Hello, TrueNorthGolfers. Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. We're so glad that you enjoyed your round at Waterlefe Golf & River Club. Please visit us again soon!
Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 03/28/2022Favorite Golf Course
Waterlefe is one of the better golf layouts in the area. It is quite a challenging golf course and not one for the occasional or higher handicap golfer. Lots of water (unless mistaken, only four holes where water isn't in play) meandering throughout the course strategically placed as well as well-placed bunkers. It is a target layout and when the wind is up it is truly a test of golf skills and patience. The greens are in good shape running at pace a faster than most courses in the area, and the bunkers are quite good with new white sand. Highly recommend this course however, not/not for the occasional or high handicap golfers.
Hi, TrueNorthGolfers. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Waterlefe Golf & River Club.
Manatee County Golf Course
Played On 03/22/2022FIRST & LAST TIME
It was the first time playing it and the last time! Yes, it's a muni course however, the green fees they are charging for late afternoon play ($49 per) with the poor course conditions are not fair, even in high season! It should be a $30 course at the most; tees very patchy and chucks missing; fairways were hard with plenty of dirt dry patches; rough was weeds with some grass; and bunkers were gray dirt. Surprisingly, the greens were undulating and in decent condition however, slow. The layout is a light moderate test. There was a very foul odour which we realized on the back nine comes from the sewage plant the course borders. The pace after a very slow start (was looking like 5 plus hours) picked up and luckily done in 4:30 hours. The club house was closed at 6:30PM with no access to bathrooms or drinks, very bad service. They should inform afternoon tee times guest about the closure time. If you're an avid decent golfer, play somewhere else as you'll be very disappointed.
Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 03/09/2022Very Windy Day on a Great Layout
A favorite course in the area and would play it even more often with reasonable pricing. The layout is a tough challenge for good players and not for a beginner or an occasional golfer. It has water hazards in play on almost every hole; forced carries for several others and it is especially more difficult on a windy day. It's a good test of your best golf game. The course conditions are good, and the greens are quite true with a relatively quick speed. Bunkers are fair with good white sand to play out. Sadly, no marshal to keep the groups moving. In front of us, 2 young ladies' good players, however, they thought they were on the PGA Tour; and took forever to hit shots and were extremely slow on the greens. One kept doing the back off and re-do her routine on every putt...it was very slow! The couple with them were also slow. They kept driving their carts together and never played ready golf. We waited on every hole and on the 14th hole we waited an entire 10 minutes, which lead to 3 groups on the tee. Please, have a marshal out there in the afternoon, with these high green fee rates being charged.
Hi, TrueNorthGolfers. Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad you had enjoyed your time at Waterlefe Golf & River Club, and pride ourselves on delivering the best experience possible.
We hope to see you again soon!
Legacy Golf Club
Played On 03/08/2022Windy Day on A Decent Layout with good greens
We had not played Legacy in the past 3 years, because it was not being well maintained and managed. Things have changed and for the better. Staff reception from the bag drop, Pro Shop and starter, all polite and welcoming. The course has been decently maintained even with the lack of rain and being Winter season. There were some dry brown areas however, nothing unusual. The greens ran quite true and were at a decent pace. Sand in the bunkers is quite heavy and gray, making bunker shots even more difficult.
IMG Academy Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2022Decent Layout with good greens
Our first time playing the course. The pro shop staff were not friendly at all. Didn't even bother with a Hello, appeared annoyed we were there; I advised our tee time, and he printed the chit handed it to me without even looking at me or "enjoy your round". Starter on the other hand was quite friendly and informative.
The layout is a decent challenge. The greens are what makes the course as they have some good undulations and run ran true at a faster pace/speed than most local courses. The bunkers have heavy beach type sand making shots more difficult. No marshal or ranger on course to keep things moving. Luckily, for us it wasn't more than a 4:30 hour round. I would play it again with a hot deal.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are sorry to hear your customer service experience was not up to par. Please reach out to our management team at (941) 758-1466, and thanks for visiting IMG Academy Golf Club. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 02/09/2022Great Layout
An excellent challenging layout with wonderful views especially on the back nine. Not a course for the occasional or beginner golfer. Conditions were fine, greens were a bit slow however, fair., and bunkers were in good conditions. The rate is overpriced, especially for an afternoon tee time. Will play it again if a more reasonable rate is available.
Thank you for your review, TrueNorthGolfers. We will pass along your experience and feedback to our team at Waterlefe Golf & River Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
10 & 19 at University Park Country Club
Played On 03/09/2020Great Layout & Great Conditions
We play this course every so often during our Winter stay. We'd play it more often if the pricing was within a reasonable range. We hope to play a few more times this season. The conditions are always good, with the greens running very true and a 10 on the stimp. Our favourite combo two nines is 19 & 1. There is more wind and more interesting shots on the shorter par fours. When playing hole 9 (1 to 9 group) keep your tee shot centre left a bit for a better approach into the green which is almost surrounded be water left & back.
The Club at River Wilderness
Played On 03/05/2020Great Layout in Need of Some Help
We enjoy playing this course due to it's layout and greens. We play it every so often during our Winter months stay. The staff is always very good, welcoming and professional. The greens are in great shape and speedy. Sand bunkers are not consistent nor have the same type of sand consistently. Sadly, many fairways and tee boxes need a lot of help. There are too many sandy large patchy areas. One White (Club) tee box was all sand! The sad thing is all the golf courses in the area raise their rates quite considerably during the busy Winter Snowbird season and yet, they do very little to improve or maintain the course conditions in line with the raised rates they demand. A rate of $30.00 to $35.00 is okay with said conditions.
Thank you for your review, TrueNorthGolfers. We will pass along your positive experience and feedback to our team at Waterlefe Golf & River Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
