El Rio Golf Course
Played On 6/2/2013El Rio Is Worth Saving!
With all of the hype brought on by the Tucson city Council in an attempt to balance a difficult budget the future of El Rio Golf Course continues to make headlines. El Rio is the pride of the barrio! It has been a cornerstone of family athletic involvement for more than fifty years. An the 'kicker' is that this course remains fun to play and a worthy challenge for the average as well as more skilled golfer. The smallish and somewhat domed greens require a number of shot making skills. The course's beauty multiplies as an increase in water usage allows it to blossom. I truly enjoy El Rio as one of the Tucson City golf properties. Let's keep El Rio and dump the over-priced and ill conceived streetcar project. The pricing at El Rio is more than fair and the enjoyment scale for a visit, excellent. El Rio WILL always give back to golfing fans!
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 5/19/2013Despite the Problems I still Enjoy This course!
Arizona National has one of the best layouts with fabulous views in Tucson. Its target golf set up requires all of the shots regardless of which set of tees you prefer. I was fortunate to have played this course prior to its issues with a lack of water. Heck, I got my first hole in one here! The problems with a lack of water, however, have played heavily upon the fairways. Even though the greens are excellent and most tees are just fine, the fairways lack grass making a challenging course much more so. I really hope that the owners can return this course to its condition of a year ago. Realizing the problem the current management is making golf here quite affordable. But I would still pay more to have the lush fairways back!
North at Randolph Golf Course
Played On 5/12/2013Randolph (North) Golf Course
Randolph has long been one of the jewels of the Tucson golfing community. Having watches both the PGA and the LPGA play tournaments on my neighborhood course was quite special. The course has length, fair yet challenging well bunkered greens, and interesting holes surrounded by beautiful mountain views. With two wonderful yet quite different golf courses on the Randolph golf property it is a special destination that I frequent with regularity.
