Well maintained, looking great and the greens are looked after. Some super short holes but great for practicing your short game.
Greenway Park Golf Course
Played On 06/18/2023Nice little par-3
Super little par 3 course that’s well maintained and has greens currently in good condition. Some tricky short holes, it’s nice for practicing your pitching and putting.
Skywest Golf Course
Played On 10/08/2017Simple layout but trees make life interesting
Loved this course. First time playing Skywest, despite living here 5 years, and we'll certainly be back. Finally discovered a course on the East Bay that doesn't leave you with an upward (or downward) lie for every shot! Good pace of play - no longer need to allow 5+ hours for a round of golf - and the breakfast sandwich was superb!
Sharp Park Golf Course
Played On 09/02/2017Caddyshack lives on!
I hadn't played Sharp Park for a year, but it's better than ever. Love the mix of wooded and links-style course, friendly club house and unassuming pro shop. It was a firm favorite of mine when I lived in SF and I'll be returning again soon - we'll worth the drive!
Poplar Creek Golf Course
Played On 01/17/2016A bit soggy, but good nonetheless
With the amount of rain we've seen recently, i was unsure whether the course would be closed. However, they've kept it open - it does have some large wet patches, and it's cart-path only for the foreseeable future - but the greens are lush, the fairways are generally in good condition (if you can keep out of the puddles), and the breakfast burrito is a WINNER.
Sharp Park Golf Course
Played On 09/12/2015Sharp Park - a fun 18 on the beach
Love this course - friendly staff, great crowd of locals, just keep out of froggy territory or you'll lose a sleeve of balls.
Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2015Mind the geese
Front 9 was slow as our pair was grouped with a dad teaching his son - and a slow couple playing as a pair ahead of us... But fortunately they headed off after 9, and after the turn there was no issue with slow play. Could do with a few more par 5s, but after their renovation work is complete it should be a good course. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
Played On 09/06/2015Up and down...
and up and down... You'll struggle to find a course with more hills - the par 3 just after the turn is basically a lob wedge into the air, and see if it lands on the green - roughly 60ft below you. Some amazing views, and a well-kept course considering the lack of water around.
I enjoyed it, would certainly play again, and hope that when the renovations are complete the course will play a little fairer!
The Ranch Golf Club
Played On 05/10/2014Tough course, but great views
Some of these holes seem deliberately tight and tricky - almost as though the designer didn't want players to want to come back for more!
Disappointed at the lack of refreshments cart, and the half-mile ride from green to tee became a little exasperating as we entered our fifth hour of play, with 4 holes still to play.
It's a beautiful-looking course, with great, friendly bar staff and a fantastic breakfast burrito. But each player in our four-ball agreed that we would prefer to return to Cinnabar Hills and pay an extra $20 than endure The Ranch again!
