Siler City Country Club
Played On 03/21/2021Good layout, rough shape
Played for the first time and really enjoyed the layout of the course. They had aerated the greens 1-2 weeks prior to play so they were bumpy and slow, but these bentgrass greens have the most slope that I've seen in the area. I will definitely come back to play later this year when it's in better shape. A hidden gem when in good condition.
River Ridge Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2019Great Course, Challenging and Fun
I've played River Ridge more than 50 times. Even at its worst, it is better than 75% of the public Raleigh-Durham course when they're at their best! Course is immaculate in the summer and fall but I would play here at any time of year.
By modern standards, the course is fairly short and fairways are mostly wide and forgiving. The course shows its teeth with its treacherous greens, strategically placed bunkers, and mix of risk/reward holes. My advice to first time players at RR: Play it safe and STAY BELOW THE HOLE. Driver isn't required on every tee shot. Consider the overall slope of the land when reading putts. Some of the most challenging greens I've ever encountered! The more you play here, the more you learn the subtleties of the greens and the more you enjoy it.
My one criticism: Place of play isn't great. At least one high school calls this course home and afternoon rounds can get slowed down by heavy traffic.
In summary, RR is a fun, challenging course that I would recommend to everyone. The more you play it, the better it gets! Staff is knowledgeable, courteous and professional

Pine Hollow Golf Course
Played On 06/09/2015Lovely track
What a nice surprise this course was. Layout is one of the strong parts of this course, most of the holes were well designed. Tee to green it isn't very long or difficult but the real challenge was the subtle breaks in the greens. Greens seemed a little dry and firm. I would definitely recommend this course
Reedy Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/05/2015Average course
The course was in pretty good shape and the layout was a mix of great holes and redundancy. If the course was a few hundred yards longer they could really make it memorable. All in all I would call it average for the area but got a good deal so I would recommend to others.
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 05/22/2015Not quite there yet
The fairways were a bit patchy and burned out on most holes. That's the only qualm I have with the course. The layout is fantastic and the greens were near perfect. Beautiful scenery, well worth the 45 min drive. Staff is very friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend to others.
We’re sorry to hear that your experience at our facility, but like many of the other golf courses in the area we have experienced winterkill. Winterkill is the result of very low temperatures experienced in late winter. The damage of direct low temperature kill occurs most commonly during periods of alternating freezing and thawing, aggravated by the increase in plant moisture when the turf is most vulnerable in late winter. This, coupled with sudden drops in cold temperatures creates a perfect storm for winterkill. Our solution over the next couple of weeks, we will be aerifying and fertilizing the fairways to get them back in the best condition possible. We ask all golfers for their understanding and patience, as this will be a summer of repair and recovery.
We hope to see you again at our facility as our playing conditions improve!!!

Greens are firm and fast. Layout was nice, good variety of holes. Scenery was above average but the course seemed to be very dry. I look forward to coming back

UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 04/29/2015Great golf course
Fantastic layout, greens are well manicured and large and offer subtle breaks that make them challenging but fair. Can't wait to play it again!
Thanks for the great review!
The Neuse Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2015Love The Neuse Golf Club!
This course never lets me down. Greens rolled fast and true and were in great shape. Fairways and rough are beginning to come in, still a few weeks away from being green. The only complaint I have is pace of play, sometimes the members are reluctant to let u play thru. I didn't see a ranger which could help on busy days. This still won't keep me from coming back time after time
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University
Played On 04/22/2015Great course
The layout is fantastic, excellent variety of holes and elevation changes combined with beautiful scenery. The fairways are still brown and patchy in some spots but that's to be expected this time of year. Greens were in great shape and the topography made reading them challenging. The course was crowded and the pace of play suffered (over 5 hrs). Can't wait to come back when everything is green, will surely give it 5 stars then
Crossings at Grove Park, The
Played On 04/21/2015Overall good course
Course conditions were good. The greens were the nicest part of the facility by far. The tee boxes were shaggy and most of the fairways were patchy or had crab grass. I look forward to playing this course in the middle of summer to see if the fairways improve. There were mostly dog leg lefts on the front 9 but the back 9 had a better variety of holes. Not an easy walk, but I enjoyed the elevation changes the course offered. Overall, a good course
Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2015Excellent Greens
Overall a good course. The greens were quite firm which caused the ball to bounce when hitting your approach in but they were in superb shape. Probably rolled at a 8.5-9.5 and rolled true. The rest of the course was patchy and brown (to be expected this time of the year) and some fairways were quite barren. The layout was good, fairly short but tight tree lined fairways with a few risk reward holes. Several parts of the course looked like it could flood easily. Looking forward to returning in the summer when everything is green!
