Mulligan's Pointe
Played On 6/25/2013Nice Course.....and some crazy fast greens!!!
Sussex Pines is a great option if you want some great golf that won't kill your budget! The course was in great shape, especially after all the rain the area has had over the last several weeks. It was especially nice to see that people that play there cared for the greens. Only twice did I see a non-repaired divot on any green. Speaking of the greens....they were recently cut and rolled over several times which provided close to a table top finish. By far the fastest greens I've played this year. The course pro welcomed us and provided a few tips on the lay of the land. We didn't eat lunch but I've heard the food in the restaurant is above average also. It was hot but overall an excellent day. The front is a little more open with the tall pines coming more into play on the back. I recommend everyone grab a Golf Now deal to Sussex Pines, you'll enjoy playing there.
The Bay Club - East Course
Played On 6/17/2013Wet course but still a great day!
The course had received between 1 and 2 inches of rain the evening before and we expected cart only. We played the East course and boy was it wet! There were 3 holes on the front and two on the back that almost under water and shouldn't have been playable from the pro shop. But aside that, it's always a course that is in great shape and even without Golf Now, the local rate in the afternoon is still a great value. I've been to Bay Club several times and I'll definately go back. Also, if you don't mind paying $7, the chicken salad croissant is awesome.
Ocean City Golf Club - Newport Bay
Played On 6/11/2013Nice Course!
I'll begin with the really only hiccup to the outing was the 5 hr pace of play (5hr 6min). The Seaside course was closed due to aeration so it was understandable the Newport Bay course would be full. Slow play affects my play but for the value I can't berate. Course was in good shape although the greens didn't look to be in the "customary" great shape. Some great challenging holes and Ranger Don was great and checked in with most every group along the course to see how things were going. Overall, a must stop especially if you get a fantastic rate like we did.
Nassawango Country Club
Played On 6/4/2013Challenging couse for the money!
Great rate from Golf Now. Had noon tee-off time day after heavy rains but the course was in good shape. Most holes are tree lined but without a drastic slice/hook, the fairway is reachable. Nassawango has the long par-5 12th with a fairly steep uphill shot to the green. Greens were soft with most uphill putts needing a little extra with the thick grain of the greens. Overall a great course that at times will have you second guessing which club to pull out. The great rate on Golf Now makes this course a "no brainer".
Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club - Grizzly/Kodiak Course
Played On 5/28/2013Challenging and Fun Course
One can't argue playing a 4-star course for $30. It was first day of aeration and we got lucky that "Black Bear" hadn't been done yet although "Grizzly" had. The aerated greens were in great shape and still held putts true. Overall great experience and the only flaw I could mention is that we went in circles trying to find the starter. Also, since there are allot of traps along the course, it would be nice to have a chart or something to determine the distance of bunkers/hazards off the tee box.
Baywood Greens
Played On 5/14/2013Excellent course! There's a reason it's always in the top 2 or 3 on Delmarva.
Staff were professional and very friendly! The starter provided a verbal tutorial at the first tee of the highlights/trouble spots to look out for on the course. How many courses offer that?? Greens were firm and quite quick. Rack rate is pretty pricey at $119.00 but Golf Now's "Super Hot" rate allowed a budget minded person afford a 4.5 star course. As a 14 hcp golfer, the course provides more than enough challenges and is in excellent shape.
