Delaware Springs Golf Course
Played On 07/23/2017Worth the Drive !
It's summer and it's been hotter then normal here in Central TX but the course was in excellent condition. I love some of the holes on this course, a few you need to have played before to get a sense of how to attack the green. Greens run true, but they are hard and even after a good shot the ball may run thru. Some holes you may want to try more of bump & run shot. Great muni, better then most. It's an drive for me, but I like to play it 3-4 times a year.
Be careful what days & time you pick to play, they get a lot of play from the local men's and women's clubs. Pace of play can be slow. I played on a Sunday, 3rd group off, and it took 3 hrs total. But it only took an hour & 15 mins to play the F9. Behind a local couple that were struggling. They had a single player in front of them that left them in the dust.
Overall just expect to play at 4..5 hrs but it's worth it. Oh, great customer service & the snack bar serves up some good eats. !
Delaware Springs Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2017interesting course, tough greens, reasonable priced
I play this course about 4-5 times a year, nice layout. I like the fact I can book a round as a Single golfer, and the pricing is reasonable. It has some interesting holes and a couple of tough holes.
The biggest challenge on this course is the greens. They're in good shape, but you really have to play here a lot to understand them. I hit a number of good approach shots just to find the ball had run by the cup 10-15' or even off of the Green. I'm and old guy and my current Handicap Idex is 9.7. My short game and putting are usually the strength of my game and where I can save a lot of strokes, but this course just can chew me up.
Pro Shop customer service is outstanding and the Grill makes a good breakfast taco.. They have a nice pavilion area for groups,, the pace of play can be slow depending on the day of the week. Play here if you get a chance.
