Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 03/26/2017Greed slows pace of play
The course is in decent condition. We played two weeks ago and were done in 4 hours. The pace today(Sunday) was slow. Had to wait over 5 minutes at every tee on the front nine. The course marshal said they were using 7 minute intervals. The pace picked up on the back nine but it took FIVE hours to play. That is unacceptable and just shows GREED. Come on, City of Mesa, space out the tee times so your residents can enjoy the game.
Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course
Played On 03/24/2017Good condition, pace was good
The course is in good condition, grass is nice on fairways and greens. The pace was very good, done in just under 4 hours. It's a little pricey as there are other courses nearby in $40 range.
Springfield Golf Resort
Played On 01/13/2017Good smaller course
Fairways and greens in very good condition. The pace was a bit slow, it took 3 H 40 M to play a small par 61 course. It was busy but I don't know if they overbooked as some courses do this time of the year. We had to wait at every hole. Overall, if you don't mind waiting it a good small course in very good condition.
Championship at Viewpoint Golf Resort
Played On 03/20/2016Good Experience
We played on Sunday and were done in 4 hr and 10 minutes, good for this time of year. The greens and fairways had good grass. The course has ponds which are shallow and you can retrieve your ball quite easily. We are under bogey golfers and felt the course was fair. We will play here again, although we are told it is hard to get on because the members can book in advance.
Southern Ridge Golf Club
Played On 03/13/2016Good value
Played the course 10 times last year, twice this year. The greens were in good condition. The fairway was the best I/ve seen it. The pace was 3 h 50 m which I considered very good for a Sunday.
Overall this is a good full size course to play. A good value even worth the drive from Mesa.
There are new owners who were at the course making sure things go well.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 03/30/2014SLOW Play, Needs Help
Took just over 5 Hours, Totally unacceptable for a resort course. Most of the holes on the front nine are roped off so you have to walk to every ball on the fairway, one of the causes of slow play. Many of the tees boxes are so chewed up there's no grass left. Make them larger so the hitting area can be moved around and let the grass recover. Several of the greens have not recovered from a grass disease and need work. While this is an interesting layout to play, the slow pace and rather poor turf left a lot to be desired. The bag boy said they had overbooked as well, although I couldn't verify that, would anybody higher up say it was true???
The management needs figure out why they need to rope off so many of the holes, well over half, not counting the par 3 which you expect. OR are there just so many tourists they can just keep on putting out poor product???
Toka Sticks Golf Club
Played On 02/19/2014Needs Work
The starting pace is very slow due to two par 3's in the first 5 holes. A definite no no on most courses.
After that, the pace picked up to a satisfactory pace.
We finished the course with a half hour of daylight left and the pro shop was closed. NO WHERE TO USE A BATHROOM. Asked the young men who were cleaning the carts, they had no idea where about 15 golfers finishing the course should go to the restroom.
The course sold us beverages all day then closed the restrooms before everyone was completed. They need to fix this problem.
Aguila Golf Course
Played On 02/11/2014Well worth the experience
We had 3 couples and got off right on our tee time and maintained a good pace throughout. The course is fairly open and if a ball goes off the fairway it's easy to find the ball allowing for faster play. Very good warm up areas.
Thank you very much for the 4 star review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time while playing at Southern Ridge Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon!
