Obnoxious

Overall Shipyard is a good combination of courses. My experience November 9 was, quite frankly, obnoxious. At approximately our 12th hole what apparently was a father and young son (perhaps six years old or less) suddenly began to play ahead of us, versus what had been a foursome of four women. It is great to see a father and son out golfing, but the father has an obligation to perform to and teach the son etiquette. Based upon the number of swings taken both were playing multiple golf balls. The son would regularly appear out of nowhere and skip across the golf course. It is most disturbing and unacceptable to start a swing and find a child suddenly obstructing the fairway. Their antics and pace of play was so slow it was holding up multiple groups of golfers. It took them 1/2 hour to complete the last hole.

When I got back to the clubhouse I commented on the antics to the staff. They informed me that this father and son are regulars and there are multiple complaints. Management will do nothing . Thus, Shipyard is condoning the behavior and does not care about etiquette or its customers.

My recommendation is avoid Shipyard.

I'm so sorry about your bad experience with us. As the manager on property I know we do not have any "regulars" that have such poor etiquette. That does not happen on our golf course and we do not tolerate any behavior like this. We do advocate for younger ones to take up the game of golf here but the rules of golf must be followed. I look forward to hearing from you

A course worth trying

The course was mostly empty on a beautiful spring day. The club house, which is old, appears to be under some renovations, which are needed. may be under new management trying to make upgrades. Club house was not open except for the pro shop and rest rooms. Skeleton crew at this time.

The course fairways are in good condition. Some of the greens are in need of repair. The growing season should help provided restoration efforts occur.

This is a hilly course which is challenging.

Enjoyable course.

Course was in decent shape despite frequent heavy rains over the past month. Rain stopped play at 12th hole. Greens need some work, but the rains have been tough for the grounds keepers. Layout of the fairways create great visual effect.

I do enjoy this course and will be back again.

Aggressive Play

Our foursome was followed by a pack of a dozen golfers playing one golfer per cart. They repeatedly drove into our foursome. Pace of play was 18 holes 4 hrs 15 minutes. We do not need a course where there is no respect for others.

We have heard that this course is where would be golf professionals are in training. If these were pros in training the training is failing the profession.

Will not be back!

Good course

Very nice course. Cool day so we had the course to ourselves.

Golf carts need attention.
