Twin Lakes Golf Course
Played On 02/14/2015Magnificent Tree Farm
Played this course last year and although it was dormant , it is truly beautiful . Can't wait to play it in the Spring . In great shape wit plenty of challenge for everyone .
Only criticism is several of the greens are too slanted (10 , 11 and 15) . They are more tricky than they need to be.
"Worth the Drive".

Best of its category . 100 miles from Dallas but worth it. Baylor golf team's home course along beautiful section of creek from Lake Waco . Pick your tee up to 7500 yds and go for it . Very nice routing , good variety of holes , brutes and strategists , and in the best dormant condition I've seen this winter . Not sure how much play it gets but we were alone early morning . Staff friendly and helpful and course is all you want .
Much better than nearby Cottonwood Creek but you could play both in same day .

Surprised Plummer and Palmer have their name on this old course. Some good holes but dormant conditions were sad . Layed as single and caught fivesome on 11 that sent their first to putt out to tee offat the next tee . Have to admit I haven't seen anyone go to such measures to keep me from playing through .
Stone Creek WAY better and 15 mins away.
Van Zandt Country Club
Played On 02/04/2015Nice Drive
About an hour east of Dallas . Club looks very tired but course in decent (dormant) condition . Wide fairways but several holes , including first , have a preferred line.
Greens smooth and very fast . Mature trees and some elevation change . Course has a nice series of lakes but none are in play except on approach to 18 . What a shame .
Played on Wednesday morning and course choked with fivesomes . Played the first five holes without delay and waited every shot thereafter .
Lake Park Golf Course - Championship Course
Played On 02/03/2015Worth a Trip
Played course in cool , dormant conditions . A nice layout with some very good holes .. Staff friendly and helpful . Good value . With little water , bunkers , and no forced carries it is a good course for women and beginners . Prety flat making it an easy walk . Needs a marshal to monitor slower groups .
I'll bet mosquitos are a problem during warmer months . Touches lake on east and up against dam on south .
Forest Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/18/2015nice routing
Friendly staff . Course empty except for foursome in front of us that had to have picked up our ball on #11 which has a blind landing area . Stuck behind them entire back nine . Ruined an otherwise nice golf day . Many interesting shots, choices .

Third time this year to play and it was an absolute delight. Early holes (1-5) just okay but from 6 on it is really nice. Greens very nice , smooth , quick. Good variety of 3's , 4's, 5's. Friendly staff. Great pace until 18th tee. Play it again. If I lived in Fort Worth it would be my go-to.
PGA WEST Greg Norman Course
Played On 09/01/2014Overhyped
REALY looked forward to playing this course but it was monotonous hole after hole. Could not remember course. I have enjoyed playing Norman courses in the past but this one lacked imagination. Guy in Pro Shop must have lost his girlfriend . Was easily least friendly person in more than 40 courses played in the area.

Hideous pace on very average track. Food pricey ($5 hot dog) and staff marginally friendly vs couldn't be bothered.
Creek/Oaks at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort
Played On 08/29/2014Very Nice Resort Course
Very nice course and nice resort. Very comfortable facility all the way around. Best greens I've played in SoCal. Got lucky with great pairing on first tee. Two knowledgeable players that played well and knew lines of play. Creek / Oaks getting ready to host Cal Amateur event. StoneHouse fun and beautiful but trickier.
Fallbrook Golf Club

Very nice shorter course. Greens perfect. Fairways and cart paths a bit in need of attention. Really interesting holes, especially on back nine.
Fallbrook Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2014Fun Layout
Not in the best shape but many good holes including drive over road on first tee. One drive on the back evoked image of 15th at Pebble. Very nice , friendly and helpful staff. Trees strategically narrowing tee shots and approaches.
The Links at Lakehouse
Played On 08/28/2014Average Club
Okay club and course. Nothing really outstanding. 3-4 good holes. I usually dont comment on the food service but theirs was truly average. Would skip next time.
The Golf Club at Rancho California
Played On 08/27/2014Okay RTJ
Classic RTJ course routed through neighborhood. In very nice condition . Helpful staff , starter. Locals have helpful knowledge if you can play with one. Greens very hard to read.
The Links at Summerly
Played On 08/27/2014A True Gem
I thought this was truly enjoyable to play. It's a drive from San Diego , and course ravaged by drought, but the fairways were soft and the greens were perfect. It's walkable , the staff is friendly , and it has fun , interesting holes back to back all the way around. It was my first time to play the course so a yardage book would have been nice , but the scorecard map gave the line of play. A couple of the fairways are crossed by hazards but I managed to avoid them. I hope this is the first place it starts to rain.
The Golf Club at Rancho California
Played On 08/27/2014RTJ Through Neighborhood
Okay course in nice condition. Very helpful Starter got me paired up quickly and foursome pace just under 4 hours. Course used for local and state tournaments but long uphill 18th the only truly difficult hole. Greens difficult to read.
Mt. Woodson Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2014Change of Pace
This is a great change of pace after playing the longer traditional courses in the area. several par 4's about placement from tee , rather than length. Nice variety of 3 pars as well. Fun shots and interesting changes in elevation. Fairways a bit bare but greens very nice.
The Golf Club of California
Played On 08/21/2014Beautiful. Do not Miss
Best of its type. Spectacular routing ,design, condition. Many memorable holes including a par 3 with green hidden by reeds in hazard. FUN. Friendly staff.
Omni La Costa Resort & Spa - Legends Course
Played On 08/19/2014Not Yet Ready
I wanted to play Champions and got Legends. I can not recommend this course. I read another review stating it needs time to let renovation changes grow in. That is probably fair. It is not ready. It is too pricey for its condition. They need a marshall too. The group in front of us was told they could not play as a fivesome , but merely waited until 3rd tee to play together. They argued , grabbed each other's rear, and waited on par 5's for the group to reach the green. In this age of pace - awareness , can anybody be so oblivious ?
On another note, the resort is in sad shape , and a fire - drill at the drive-up.
Maderas Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2014Very Nice / Well-run
Top notch course and very friendly staff ,from bag drop to Pro Shop to food service/ bev cart. Course fun but great fortune to be paired with a member who was very helpful with sight lines and carries. Greens the only small negative in that they could not be read. Would have to play many times to know break.
We hope you were able to make it back this spring to play the course again as it is now bright green and the roses are currently in full bloom.
We have had complaints on the slant of a few greens in the past and we listened and changed up #11 to try to help the golfer. It is a bit more fair but it is still a challenge. Now that the grass is growing again you might find the greens a bit slower and therefore those greens might be a little more forgiving. Come on out and give it a shot again.
