Salt Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2017Poor conditions
First of all course layout is great and the greens I'm sure will be great once they recover from aerification. However, the fairways need some watering. Yes it's a links course but the grass seems about ready to die. A few of the bunkers are rock hard and unplayable.
With some TLC this course would be perfect, but at this time way way overpriced.
Chula Vista Golf Course
Played On 03/26/2017Great greens, decent pace of play
Challenging layout for all levels of play, especially from the back tees. Greens are in great shape and bunkers appear to have been filled with new sand following all the rain we've had recently. I played a little after 12pm and finished in 4 hours and 30 minutes which is not bad for a public course. Great staff and drink cart will be around often enough.
Super super slow
Course is a good layout and in good condition other than the greens which were recently aerated. There was no warning on golfnow about the greens still recovering from aerification so putting was a guessing game as far as speed and extremely bumpy.
I can deal with the bumpy greens but the PACE OF PLAY was maybe the worst I've ever experienced. It took almost 3 hours to play the first 9 holes. I ended up quitting after 12 holes. NO MARSHALL controlling pace of play and we were behind 2 foursomes full of hackers.
Tee time was for 1:37PM and teed off 10 minutes late. Don't know if playing early in the morning is much better with pace of play, but I wouldn't pay $50+ and end up with the same problem. No Marshall No play
Chula Vista Golf Course
Played On 03/04/2017Great Value
This course is challenging and has great greens considering it's a public course. People complain about the fairways not being in great shape, but they're good enough. You can't expect country club conditions at municipal prices. Friendly staff with a challenging course with good variety of holes. Played in a foursome on a Saturday and finished in 4 hours.

I'm from San Diego and was in the area with the family for the Wolf Lodge water park in Garden Grove. I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course and the challenging layout. Played from the tips and every tee shot required precision. If you hook or slice your driver you'll find trouble, this is not one of those courses where you can blast a driver and play your second shot from another fairway. The par threes are less than 140 yards from the tips except for 1. Greens are in good condition, but players don't seem to repair their ball marks (not the course's fault).
Fairways are fine considering how dry California is. If your're a single digit handicapper, trust me you will be challenged from the tips. If you're a short knocker or high handicapper please hit from the white tees so you don't affect the pace of play. Pace of play was my only complaint, it took over 5 hours because there were some groups of ladies and high handicappers in front of us.
Can't beat this place for $40.
