Royal Stouffville Golf Course
Played On 08/09/2016Good Spot to Play
Some of the course suffered from very dry areas, but that seems to be the case with most golf courses in the area. Greens were green/plush and well kept, with exception to the 10th hole, which had many ball marks and spots. Approach shots stay where you land them, but some of the putts don't seem to read true. Overall a good course, with exceptionally friendly staff. Just don't let the sound of cows distract you on the 17th and 18th.
Newcastle Golf Course
Played On 08/06/2016Dry Fairways and Dry Staff
Started off the day with unfriendly pro shop staff, who didn't seemed pleased that we were there to golf. Played the front 9 in 3.5 hours behind a tournament and some junior members, so the pace was very slow. No marshalls in sight to push up the pace as we saw the tournament ahead of us hitting a combined 6 or 7 balls. Also no beverage cart to help ease my frustration. After hitting the 4 hour mark on the 11th tee, we decided to cut our losses and head home. As for the course itself, the fairways were very dry and some of the back tee blocks were very poorly maintained, with one tee having no grass between the blocks and shooting blindly over some hedges. Overall, a very disappointing course and a very disappointing day for golf.

Played On 07/29/2016I Wish This Course Was Closer
Before beginning our round, we were greeted by the pro shop staff who were extremely friendly and had amazing customer service. Off the first tee, the starting marshall controlled the pace of play, which remained excellent throughout the round. The course itself is in great shape, with beautiful green fairways and greens. The greens played firm, with a bit of roll resulting in a challenging day. All the putts rolled quickly, but played true, which led to some rewarding moments on the green. We called the kitchen on the 9th tee and ordered some food and were on the 10th tee in only a few minutes. The only disappointing thing about the round was the temporary fairway "green" on 12, which led us to pick up our balls and skip to the 13th - hopefully the usual green will be ready to go soon! Overall, a challenging and excellent course. I will definitely be back again.
Hey "jgolfd" thank you so much for the 5* review! We are happy to hear that you had an overall awesome experience! We look forward to seeing you back out here soon!
Pheasant Run Golf Club - Highlands
Played On 07/27/2016Beautiful Course - Too Bad We Got Rained Out
Started off our round with some complementary range balls. Once we were warmed up, we headed to the first tee, where the starting marshall offered us some cold water bottles. The course was in exceptional condition, with surprisingly green fairways. The best kept course that I've seen all summer. However, the rough hadn't been cut in a while and it was very thick. Not sure if it was by design or just hadn't been done in a while. Some of hole layouts are beautiful with elevated tee offs, while a few other holes have slanted fairways with large drop offs, which can be somewhat frustrating. Unfortunately, a crazy rain storm hit us mid round and we only got to see half of the course. I will be back again to this beautiful course to get a full round in, once a more reasonable price pops up.
Hey, Jgolfd- wait a minute...
Great review and all...and I know some of our fairways are a bit slopey - but that photo you attached really exaggerates things! I mean realllly!
Sorry you got rained out- I hope the rain check gets you out again soon
