Peaks at Tonto Verde Golf Club
Played On 10/24/2017Worth the drive.
Played the Tonto Verde Peaks course on Tuesday, October 24th, under absolutely perfect conditions. The course was is great shape and the weather was outstanding. This specific course is located in the east valley that I personally think is the most scenic in the Phoenix area. Several holes made a postcard picture of the 4 Peaks Mountain range that was in the distance. The course is challenging as there are several forced carries off of the tee box to fairways that from the tee box, seemed very tight. That said, most of the fairways did have ample landing room but you really cannot see that from the tee box. The greens were in great shape and were mostly easy to read the break. The course had recently gone through the overseeing process thus is was lush and green and provided a perfect surface to hit from. Overall, it was a great experience and would highly recommend making the drive.
Verde River Golf & Social Club
Played On 04/23/2017This course may be a new favorite.
Played Verde River for the first time on Sunday. It is a fairly good drive to get there but it is more than worth the time invested. The clubhouse is brand new (opened like 2 days prior). The views of the mountains truly are stunning on every hole. Overall, the course was in outstanding shape although there were some holes where the grass was dry and tight and thus somewhat difficult to hit from. The greens were somewhat sandy but once you got used to the speed, they were good to putt on. The bunkers were a very fluffy sand that was easy to come out of cleanly. The pace of play was outstanding. This was Sunday around noon on a very pleasant day and I had a twosome in front and a single behind. As such, I finished the round in roughly 3 hours and 15 minutes. The clubhouse attendants and the starter were super friendly and helpful. All in all, this may get into my list of "favorites." I will definitely be back.
