2016 Olympic golf course in Rio may be ready after all

It's been a tumultuous ride, building a course purpose-built for the return of golf to the Olympics. But the latest tone from course architect Gil Hanse and the people involved with the Rio golf course is positive.

Golf Channel's Matt Ginella spoke with Gil Hanse at the recent PGA Merchandise Show about the progress of the most anticipated new golf course in 2016. Hanse said the course is in "immaculate condition."

"I was so impressed with the maturity of the course," Hanse said. "Now we're focused more on details and getting some of the out-of-play areas ready for the tournament as opposed to focusing on fairways and greens."

You can watch Hanse's full interview with Ginella below and see a full list of Hanse-designed courses and their ratings on his architects page .
