For many golfers, playing Pebble Beach is no ordinary round. It can be a retirement present, a place to propose marriage or celebrate a milestone. It can even be an experience someone has before they know their time on this planet is nearly up.
Pebble Beach Golf Links is celebrating 100 years in 2019 by hosting the U.S. Open. But when the world's best players leave, the doors will open back up to the public, where amateur golfers from all over the world will come to experience the course for themselves.
Recently, Matt Ginella chronicled the experience for Golf Channel's Live From Pebble Beach for the 2019 U.S. Open, and asked golfers to chime in with their experiences at Pebble Beach and the responses were wide-ranging.
I was in a very bad car accident that was touch and go for a while. After multiple surgeries and a long recovery, it was time to celebrate. My college roommate, Matt, lived in San Francisco and we decided to take a golf trip out and do Pebble. pic.twitter.com/EQN7XcgJDX

Big match for our Dad’s 60th. All of us about the same skill level - nothing better. pic.twitter.com/6BDqkPmWGQ

@BKriv29 went there with 5 other guys as a trip of a lifetime. He also brought his mother (ashes). On #7 teebox, he says goodbye. He proceeds to birdie the hole! I’ve played a LOT of great golf and this story will never be topped!!! No doubt she was with us that day SMILING! pic.twitter.com/dLSVfUrTDu

My dad always dreamed of playing Pebble Beach, but was busy raising 5 kids and we didn’t have much money. For his 60th bday I told him I was taking him. We had to postpone it for a year because his health was bad. An experience I cherish everyday and especially since he passed. pic.twitter.com/q5jOhKdfAc

Just before my dad passed, family trip to play MPCC, Spyglass, Pebble. Picture perfect at Pebble that day. Never forget that round. Also special b/c my dad was a marshall at the Crosby on 17 green at Pebble for years and my brother and I leaderboard carriers there. Special place pic.twitter.com/QG1CMyxSBA

Me and my buddy Brent Gilmore. Best of friends since we were teenagers. Went to high school and college together, pledged Alpha Phi Alpha the same year. Both hit with the golf bug. Pebble was on his bucket list, so when I moved to LA, I said “Let’s go!” He made the trip from DC! pic.twitter.com/XIZeJtvFyp

I played Pebble in July 1987 on our honeymoon. My wife rode along in the cart ($135 for me, for $15, lol). We got a Turkey sandwich at the turn, and even though they warned me, the seagulls swooped in & took it from us, lol #MadrasPants pic.twitter.com/QEugpFiRTO
