#AskMattyG: Travel tips on SW Ireland, Sawgrass/Sea Pines, and Barton Creek in Texas

In our latest #AskMattyG segment on Golf Channel, a viewer planning a trip to the southwest coast of Ireland asked about value options in that area. For a hidden gem, try the Killeen Course at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club in County Kerry. Okay, maybe that one's not a "hidden" gem, but it does get overlooked too often.

Another viewer planning a spring golf trip in the southeastern U.S. is debating combining Sea Pines Resort and Kiawah Island Golf Resort, or Sawgrass Golf Resort & Spa and Sea Island. It was a tough call, as the cost and weather are basically the same. But to me, Sawgrass/Sea Island gets the nod (mainly because of Sea Island, one of the most special spots in the world of golf). Fly into Jacksonville, Florida and have a ball.

Lastly, Lou on Twitter wants to know my thoughts on the best of the four golf courses at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas. My preference are the Foothills Course and the Canyons Course. All four of the Barton Creek courses are great, but I prefer those two Fazio designs.
