Best of 2016: Top 25 golf courses in Indiana

There may be no better state for golf in the entire country than the Hoosier State, at least according to 2016 reviews on Golf Advisor. The home of Pete Dye scored five courses in the U.S. Top 50, an impressive feat given its size and largely lesser-known courses compared to other top destinations.

What makes Indiana golf so great? The best courses earned exceptional marks for staff friendliness and value. It also helps to have the Dye family attached to so many course designs, too. Casino and resort properties factor into the list, as well as some top courses around Indianapolis, plus more rural and southern Indiana areas closer to Louisville.

To compile our state lists, we used a similar method to that of our our national Top 50 ranking . A course's score is based on their overall (50%) rating and subcategory average (50%). Reviews are weighted based on how prolific that reviewer is on Golf Advisor, and a course receives a bump in their rating if their score is better than that reviewer's average score.
