Golf Advisor is looking back on the top-rated courses in each state for 2017 according to your ratings and reviews, but we've combined the six states of New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) into one list. Golf courses needed to receive at least one review from an active and trusted member in the calendar year to be considered eligible for our state lists. I can tell you Breakfast Hill does not belong here. Decent, but not top 25 in NE. One of the very best and belongs here right with Sugarloaf, is Belgrade Lakes, ME. Poland Springs and North Conway don't belong either. But maybe all that has changed since it's 2020 now. I'll be playing Loudon Country Club this weekend.
How Peabody meadows is on this list blows my mind
Squirrel Run does not belong on this list. I am one of the reviewers and I gave it 5 stars and will play there again. Everything about it is great. But not a top 25 in New England. Quite a disservice to Newport National (RI) not to be near the top of the list. Acushnet CC (MA), Atlantic CC (MA), Richmond CC (RI), and probably a dozen others could make the list. Golf is alive and well in New England.
