I just don't understand this list...Tobacco Road isn't on the same plane as #2 or Pine Needles...that said, I can understand the ranking because people ohh and ahh over it. It's a fun course, but not best in the state. Beaufort Club at #17 is a fair course, surely not that high in the state. I'd say Beaufort is like a 4 out of 10, very average. Duplin Country Club is the real head scratcher though. At present, I've played 258 different golf courses, 15 of those no longer exist...so of the 243 that remain, Duplin CC falls somewhere around 235. I don't know...maybe they've spend a couple million dollars since I was there last.
This list is based on aggregated reviews on the site. If no one is reviewing the course, then it doesn't get any credit on the list. This isn't the opinion of some random golf writer, it's based on a full year of feedback from golfers who have actually played these courses, hence why these lists look nothing like any of the other "Best of" lists you'll find throughout traditional golf media
If you haven’t played Duplin within the last 2 years. You should go again. Awesome!
How does it compare to any courses in the Jacksonville-Wilmington area? River Landing, Castle Bay, even Wilmington GC or Bear Trail?
