Buddy Trip Captains: an exclusive invitation to Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Few modern golf courses carry as much history as Kiawah Island's Ocean Course.

Dear Buddy Trip Captains,

Remember when we wanted to know if you were a "buddy trip captain" and asked a few questions about your golf trips?

It was for days like today.

Kiawah Island Golf Resort, host of the 2012 and upcoming 2021 PGA Championship (not to mention the infamous Ryder Cup "War by the Shore" in 1991), has been up to big things. And they want to show it off to you.

They've extended an exclusive invitation to buddy trip captains November 12 - 14.

Think of it as a scouting trip to see if the destination, which has been investing vast sums into their golf and facilities lately, is right for your group.

The three-day, two-night trip is significantly less than their normal rack rate and is highlighted by a morning tee time on the famous Ocean Course and a round on Tom Fazio's Osprey Point the following morning.

Accommodations for the trip are at Kiawah's incredibly luxurious Sanctuary Hotel and breakfast is included each morning (I think you'll find the buffet spread sufficient!). The hotel is steps from the beach and pool, so allow yourself some time to cool off.

Following golf on the Ocean Course, you'll enjoy a happy hour at the famous clubhouse overlooking the ocean and 18th hole.

And you'll also receive a swag bag valued at $100.

Why are they offering you such a great deal?

Simple. They know you're the group's "Alpha." Kiawah is confident you'll be impressed with what you experience and will want to bring your buddies back with you.

But we want to be clear: there are absolutely no strings attached to this trip.

I visited Kiawah Island earlier this spring when the resort revealed their ambitious Kiawah 2.0 plan: Serious upgrades are coming to their resort and facilities in time for the 2021 PGA Championship. But you may not know that since just prior to the 2012 PGA, the resort has renovated all five of their 18-hole golf courses. During my visit this spring, I was particularly impressed with the updates Gary Player's team did at Cougar Point, while at Jack Nicklaus' Turtle Point, I certainly didn't mind that 14 additional acres of fairway were added. Tom Fazio's scenic Osprey Point has a fresh shine on it too. And virtually everyone I speak to agrees that Oak Point has never been better since the resort purchased it years ago.

The details:

November 12 - 14

This rate includes 2 nights at the Sanctuary hotel, 2 rounds of golf with cart (one round on the Ocean Course, one round on Osprey Point), unlimited daily range balls, on-island transportation, a post-golf happy hour on Monday, swag bag valued at $100, and breakfast each day.

This rate includes 2 nights at the Sanctuary hotel, 2 rounds of golf with cart (one round on the Ocean Course, one round on Osprey Point), unlimited daily range balls, on-island transportation, a post-golf happy hour on Monday, swag bag valued at $100, and breakfast each day for both attendees.

And one more reason to go: if you end up bringing a group back to Kiawah to take part in their "Ryder Cup package," as a captain, you'll only pay $200 to cover swag and breakfasts (Or, you can spread the savings out across the group.)

Space is extremely limited for this special event. So book fast.
