Compete in one of these northern California amateur golf tournaments in 2014

There are plenty of options where you can tee it up competitively in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2014, including Northern California Golf Association and Golf Channel Am Tour-sanctioned events.

We've scoured the web to find some of the top events open to amateur golfers of all handicaps this season. Northern California golfers can compete on some of the top courses in the area, including Spyglass Hill Golf Course, the entirely redesigned and renovated Poppy Hills Golf Course, Pasatiempo Golf Club and Bayonet/Black Horse golf courses.

Golf tournaments in the Bay Area in March

March 15: GC Am Tour Vallejo Classic at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo. Handicaps are flighted.

March 22: GC Am Tour Blackhorse Preview at Black Horse at Bayonet/Black Horse in Seaside. Handicaps are flighted.

March 31-April 1: NCGA Public Links Championship at Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach and Bayonet/Black Horse in Seaside.

Golf tournaments in the Bay Area in April

April 12-13: Lompoc City Championship Golf Tournament at La Purisima Golf Course.

April 26: GC Am Tour Marin County Players at Stonetree Golf Club in Novato. Flighted stroke-play event.

April 26-27: Roseville City Amateur & Senior Amateur at Diamond Oaks Golf Course and Woodcreek Golf Club. Gross Division and Senior Gross Division (no handicaps) as well as Net Divisions (flighted).

Golf tournaments in the Bay Area in May

U.S. Open qualifying begins in May and host venues in northern California, including Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz and The Preserve Golf Club in Carmel. For entry and dates, visit USGA.org.

May 3: GC Am Tour Santa Cruz Stableford Shootout at De Laveaga Golf Course. Flighted Stableford event.

May 17-18: GC Am Tour Northern California Major Championship at Bayonet/Black Horse in Seaside. Registration ends May 1, and handicaps are flighted.

May 17-18: Oakland City & Senior Golf Championship at Lake Chabot Golf Course. Stroke-play event (36 holes).

May 17-18: Fresno City Senior Amateur & Master's Championship at Riverside of Fresno Golf Course. Entry fees from $135-$155, depending on division; handicap restrictions also vary by division.

May 31st: The City of San Francisco is hosting a fundraiser for Sharp Park Golf Course, Alister Mackenzie Tournament. Format is a four-man scramble.

Golf tournaments in the Bay Area in June

Associate Club Four-Ball Net Championship at Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach and Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey. Fifty-six teams qualify for the championship. Qualifying is May 29, and the two-day finals are June 23-24. Teams will play 18 holes to qualify, and 36 for the championship.

June 2: GC Am Tour Bay Area Memorial Tournament at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward. Gross play, all handicaps are flighted.

June 14: GC Am Tour Battle at Monarch Bay at Monarch Bay Golf Club in San Leandro. Entry fee is $120. Registration begins April 1 and ends June 9. Handicaps are flighted.

June 14-15: Sacramento City Men's Championship at Haggin Oaks Golf Club's Alister Mackenzie Course.

June 28-29: Sacramento City Women's Championship at Bing Maloney Golf Course.

June 29: GC Am Tour Old Del Monte Classic at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey. Flighted stroke-play event.

July 8-9: Sacramento Senior Men's City Championship at Bing Maloney Golf Course.

July 11: GC Am Tour Presidio Invitational at Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco. Flighted stroke-play event.

July 26: GC Am Tour Ocean Challenge at Half Moon Bay Golf Links in Half Moon Bay. Flighted stroke-play event.

Aug. 9-10: GC Am Tour Bay Area Tour Championship at 36-hole Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel. Flighted stroke-play event.

Aug. 23-24: Antioch City & Senior Amateur Championship at Lone Tree Golf Course.

September

Sept. 6-7: Concord City Amateur Championship at Diablo Creek Golf Course.

Oct. 4-5: Tracy City Championship at Tracy Golf & Country Club.

Oct. 11-12: Manteca City & Senior Four-Ball Championship at Manteca Park Golf Course.

Oct. 18-19: Napa City Championship at Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park.

Oct. 25-26: Palo Alto City Championship at Palo Alto Golf Course.

Nov. 8-9: Tulare County Four-Ball Championship at Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia.

Nov. 10-12: California Senior Amateur Championship at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.

Nov. 17-18: Northern California Women's Four-Ball Championship at Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel.
