This golf course architect's office clearance sale is a Cool Golf Thing

This could be a design geek's treasure trove.
Hundreds of items from prominent golf course architects Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest are up for sale in Toledo this week.

Though relatively minor, one regret I have is not seizing the opportunity to buy some small prop or trinket from the sets of Mad Men when items of all sorts, from glasses to dresses, were auctioned off by Screen Bid in 2018. If you're a golfer within a moderate drive of Toledo, you've got a similar, though much more niche opportunity today and tomorrow.

Golf course architects Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest, whose careers' work includes nearly 300 golf courses from the Midwest to Florida to Portugal, are moving offices, and in order to ease the transition, they're selling a half-century's worth of accrued memorabilia that ranges from golf course plans to books to even a couch and a Yamaha keyboard. Among the photos available on the sale listing, a leather-bound copy of the World Atlas of Golf, a signed copy of Arnold Palmer's A Golfer's Life and some unrolled plans of Pine Valley Golf Club, Cypress Point Club and Merion Golf Club piqued my interest. If only I wasn't so far away...

It's a two-day sale: 9 am to 3 pm today (Friday), February 28, and tomorrow (Saturday), February 29. The address is 7351 W Bancroft Street in Toledo. Happy hunting!
