Gift suggestions for the nice golfers on your holiday list

From tech gadgets to snazzy shoes, here are a few ideas
So many golfers, so much available for them come holiday time.

One of the most challenging aspects of the holidays is buying gifts for the people who seemingly have everything. But if you have a golfer on your list, that's pretty much impossible, because golfers always love to get new gear.

There are guidelines, of course, on what to buy and what to avoid, but for this holiday season, we've got some specific suggestions that cover pretty much every budget, from value-priced sunglasses designed specifically for golf to premium outerwear. Here's a look:

TecTecTec! ULT-X Golf Laser Rangefinder

The new ULT-X from TecTecTec!

Amazon's No.1 selling golf rangefinder brand, TecTecTec!, is launching its most advanced model to-date, the ULT-X. Among the new features are Vibrating FlagSeeker technology (letting golfers know when they’ve locked on to the target) and a toggle that quickly disengages the slope function used to calculate elevation-adjusted distances to the target, allowing for tournament-approved play. Equipped with a muti-layered 6X optical lens, it measures distances up to 600 yards within a half yard or up to 1,000 yards within one yard. ($250)

Burton CSX Stand Bag

Burton Golf's CSX Stand Bag is great for walking or riding.

For golfers who like sometimes walk and often ride, the CSX Stand Bag from Burton Golf has them covered. It comes in just under 5 pounds, so it's light enough to carry or use on a push cart, but sturdy and large enough for the powered golf carts. Equipped with ergonomic shoulder straps the CSX features a 5-way organizer top with full-length individual dividers and an insulated cooler sleeve. It also comes with seven zippered pockets including a waterproof, fleece-lined valuables pocket. An exclusive flex base releases legs making for smooth transitions from carry to stand. Available in six colorways with or without embroidered customization. ($230)

Sun Mountain Speed Cart GX

Sun Mountain's latest Speed Cart adds several new features.

For the golfer who likes to walk, the new and improved Speed Cart GX from Sun Mountain is a perfect gift. Improvements include a redesigned handle allowing for a larger mesh headcover tray; new, standard mesh basket; improved upper and lower bag brackets that easily adjust to hold a variety of golf bag shapes and sizes; and a built-in bracket to hold the accessory Speed Cart seat. Plus it still retains features like a mobile phone slot in the padded storage tray, umbrella holder and bungee straps to hold the bag more securely. ($219)

Galvin Green Lloyd Interface-1 Full Zip Jacket

Galvin Green's Lloyd Jacket

If there's a golfer in your life who's really special to you, then you might want to consider this premium jacket. Galvin Green's Lloyd Jacket, worn by the European Ryder Cup Team, boasts a modern design plus tech factors to help keep golfers' games sharp both on and off the course. The unique carbon color-inspired tone-in-tone design is married with protective Interface-1 fabric technology, a completely windproof, water repellent and extremely breathable material. ($500)

GolfLogix Plus and Puttbreaks

Get green contours in real time with GolfLogix's Putt Breaks.

For the tech-savvy golfer in your life, you might want to consider a subscription to GolfLogix Plus, which comes with the Putt Breaks. Using the Golf Logix app on the course, Putt Breaks provides golfers with intelligent green maps that auto-orient based the user's position, which is pretty amazing if you're into that sort of thing. It gives an accurate green read with one touch, showing every slope and undulation on the green’s topography and how putts will break. A bird's-eye view of the green's contours also helps golfers easily plan their approach and chart out chip shots. GolfLogix has also created a light sensitivity mode that allows you to see green details under any light condition. The GolfLogix Plus Membership offers all of their Premium features (target distances to anywhere on the course, shot tracking, distance to pin) and also includes the Putt Breaks feature. ($49.99/year)

UnderArmour Tuned Golf sunglasses

UnderArmour's new Tuned Golf Assists are designed to actually improve golfers' games.

Many golfers don't wear sunglasses on the golf course because they found that they distorted their fields of vision, especially on the greens. But many are being converted after they tried UnderArmour's Tuned Golf Assists. UnderArmour claims the lenses are tinted to help green contours stand out. They might also help you see the grain better. The glasses are well-priced, sturdy and pretty easy to clean, too. ($100-$125)

SCOTTeVEST RFID Travel Vest

With SCOTTeVest, there can't be too many pockets.

For the traveling golfer on your list, consider SCOTTeVest, which has taken people’s love for clothes with pockets to an almost comical extreme. The result is a line of super-convenient and sharp-looking clothing made specifically to hold all those gadgets and items you inevitably take on trips with you. It has 26 – yes, you read that right – pockets. ($135)

True Linkswear X Linksoul Knit Shoe

For comfort and laidback style consider the new TrueLinkswear shoe.

Linksoul has carved out a nice niche for itself among golfers who prefer a more laid-back apparel aesthetic. After now, a few years of decline following a splashy debut several years ago, True Linkswear seems to have found itself again. This collaboration between the two brands has yielded a lightweight, breathable shoe with plenty of grip that fits with the more casual, dressed-down vibe. You can even wear them without socks if you like. ($148)

Rocket Tour Hybrid Headcovers

These stylish hybrid headcovers would make a great gift for almost any golfer.

Samuel Hubbard 36 Holes golf shoes

Samual Hubbard is offering a comfortable, quality golf shoe.

The Samuel Hubbard Co. is both new and old. Bruce Katz, who co-founded Rockport Shoes, started Samuel Hubbard in 2014 as a nod to his grandfather, who ran the Hubbard Shoe Company from 1930 until it closed in 1973. Samuel Hubbard has become popular for its well-made, supremely comfortable casual and work shoes. It recently came out with a couple models of spikeless golf shoes, including the 36 Holes model. Many golfers will appreciate that they run a bit wide. They also work nicely off the course, at dinner, for example. ($245)

Fun foursome of products from our friends at Revolution Golf

Revolution Golf is a great resource for golfers who are serious about improving their games, and it's also gaining popularity as a source of best-anywhere deals on golf equipment, training aids and accessories. They've got a ton of deals going this holiday season, but here are four particularly noteworthy ones:

  • RJ 490 Golf Cart Bag - Like most golf items, bags seem to be creeping up in price of late. Not so with this model from RJ Sports, which RG has secured for a pretty ridiculous price of $67.
  • Sure Set training aid - British teaching pro and inventor Dan Frost's creation is a simple and elegant way to train the type of extension and arm positioning necessary for hitting the ball far and straight. It also fits in your golf bag, making it easy to use on the range while you practice. ($87 with RG+ membership)
  • Pyramid Putters - I raved recently about my trusty new Evnroll putter because of its ability to redirect off-center strikes back on line with minimal much loss of distance. Pyramid Putters aim to provide the same benefit through some creative milling of their putter faces. Revolution Golf has these at a prety nice discount off their regular retail price. ($187)
  • SwingCaddie SC200 - Touring pros bring their $20,000 Trackman launch monitors with them everywhere. For the rest of us, SwingCaddie makes a stripped-down but still useful version for the rest of us, and Revolution Golf has it for $30 less than Amazon. ($247)

Evan Schiller 2019 Golf Calendar

A good golf calendar keeps your daily schedule straight, but they're even better for your mental health. Looking at beautiful photos of famous golf courses can brighten your spirits, even in the dead of winter. As one of golf's most prolific photographers, Schiller and his camera capture why we love the game in every shot. ($21.95)
