Bandon Dunes and Trails are both better than Spyglass all day long. After the 4th hole Spyglass gets real average real fast (though I like 5 too). Pasatiempo could be great but is generally in pretty meh condition — and the range blows.

I had the opportunity to play all four of the courses at Bandon Dunes in late August. The courses are all spectacular, but I am wondering if they are a touch over rated given the high prices ($400 a round with caddy), the lack of on site amenities  (two mediocre restaurants ), and the difficulty in getting there. I will take the Monterey Peninsula any day. You can fork out $525 to play Pebble, but you can also pay $85 to play Bayonet and Blackhorse and still be awe struck by the magnificence of those golf courses and the beautiful surroundings. Monterey also has relatively inexpensive hotels and a wide variety of good restaurants in Monterey or nearby Carmel. I am one and done at Bandon but return to Monterey several times a year.

Wow. Kiawah out of the top 10.  Hard to believe...better than Bethpage, but Matty G's others are spot on.. imagine if Caledonia had a range and a decent 9th hole..

Bethpage is a huge course and as good as any on the list, except for Pebble. Nothing can compare to the majestic beauty of Pebble, although the first few holes aren't very spectacular.
