Our community golf course, HighPointe Golf Course in Eightmile, Alabama with stood so many obstacles and named storms such as Freddrick and Katrina but could noy withstand the political, government or financial storm. Our community is poverty stricken and we really needed our golf course that not only closed down, the club house has also burned down. Our kids have little to no community activities and we really havent seen any growth in our community. My family and I, as well as others in the community, would love to see the golf course re build. But with limit resources, we are seeking help for this project.

Rumors still abound here in Indiana that Wolf Run (Top 100 modern every year it was open) will come back. It's completely overgrown and the clubhouse is gutted but the owner didn't get the residential zoning he wanted (ex-members showed up to the zoning board to fight it....and won) so he's kind of stuck. If you hear anything official Jason please report !

I played the Club at Sunrise in 2017, and in my Golf Advisor review, I noted that the flood control ditch (for lack of a better word) was not the problem, but that because of the design, that ditch was on the RIGHT side of nearly every hole, and that statistically, most golfers are right-handed, and the most common miss is a slice, it causes too many delays (slow play issue) with golfers trying to find their ball down in that ditch. If that course were laid out in reverse, the ditch would be on the LEFT of those fairways, and less likely to create logjams.
As for the photo of the 18th at Royal New Kent, that looks suspiciously like the 18th at its' neighboring course (designed by Curtis Strange) which I believe is called "The Crossings at Brickshire", or maybe just "Brickshire". Both of the Mike Strantz designed courses (Royal New Kent, and Stonehouse) are separated by just a few miles and are amazing layouts. I sincerely hope that both have long and successful comebacks. In a world of cookie-cutter, parkland-style layouts, the imagination and challenge of a Mike Strantz design would be a shame to lose forever.

You should check out what's going on with The Diplomat resort course in Hallandale Beach, FL. It hasn't reopened since Hurricane Irma, and there are plans to build condos on part of the property, but word is Greg Norman will be redesigning what's left. They've been plowing up the holes for a couple of months now.

Since you brought in a course from Canada, please consider these courses in Puerto Rico.

The Rio Bayamon Golf Course in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. It is a municipal course near San Juan and far less expensive than the other public offerings in the San Juan area.

About 2 hours away on the western shore is Punta Borinquen Golf Course, which was part of the US Air Force base in Aquadilla, PR. Built in 1940, it was one of President Eisenhower's favorite golf courses.

Thanks for your consideration!

I will be at Royal New Kent on 3/29. Spoke to Barton and love that he got Mrs Stranz involved and was able to have the original designs for the course to work with. It is a unique course and glad it is being resurrected. Will look to visit Stonehouse this summer too.
