One of the Shark's finest: Greg Norman Course at PGA West in La Quinta, California

LA QUINTA, Calif. -- The Greg Norman Course is the newest of the six courses at PGA West. It opened in 1999 and has certainly taken its place among the best courses at this famed resort.

Having evolved in the last few years with a cleaner look, the 7,156-yard par 72 course can be difficult, but is certainly playable. While there is no rough to speak of, on most holes there is plenty of fairway, despite the fact that there's just 68 acres of irrigated turf. And if you do happen to miss a fairway, chances are good you'll find your ball; there just might be a desert plant, shrub or tree in your way.

More than 100 white crushed marble bunkers are scattered throughout he course. And though the layout certainly qualifies as a desert course, water comes into play on nine of the 18 holes, each of them different and memorable. The course is also adorned wildflowers and a mix of tall and short native grasses.
