Land of the free: The best patriotic golf course names in the United States

Golf over Independence Day weekend is an American tradition for many families. In honor of our national birthday, we've uncovered a collection of the most patriotic golf course names from coast to coast. You can view them in the slideshow above.

Some courses are named after U.S Presidents, particularly golfing presidents like Dwight D. Eisenhower. Others take it a step further. In Las Vegas, Revere Golf Club pays tribute to Paul Revere's midnight ride with the Lexington Course and Concord Course. No golf course may have a more patriotic setting than exclusive Liberty National, which sits in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty.

Course names like "Bunker Hill" and "Independence" are particularly popular. We also found 11 golf courses with the word "Patriot" in the name, and 22 courses with "American" in the title.

Of course, golf courses don't need to have a specific name to be a patriotic facility. Is your home course doing anything special for the 4th of July or honoring the military or our country in any special way? Let us know in the comments below.

Patriot Hills in Stony Point, NY, in honor of the Battle of Stony Point during the Revolution, and it has "Mad" Anthony Wayne as its logo.
