Worth the special price of $16
Front 9 in better shape than back 9. Greens are in good shape. They failed to tell me some were SANDED.

Please bring back the old GRASS BUNKERS! Sand bunkers are ridiculous these days for the pro golfer. Put grass around the green or a mix and there is no way they can spin the ball, they must hit the high flop or live with it!

Great event. Definitely different than Carnoustie

GREAT ARTICLE!
I’m one of Golf’s biggest fans and tend to be critical of many tournaments for varying reasons. It was very difficult to be critical of this one. Great course, great setup, great theatre and GREAT GOLF. “Go Tiger”.

I agree this was a great event. But spare a thought for those of us in the UK & Ireland. The PGA sold the TV rights to a new, little known company which streamed the coverage without a television platform. I signed up, reluctantly but none of my friends, nor those in the club bar, saw any of the golf. Shame on the PGA for putting short term profit ahead of promoting the sport.

This was the most exciting major of the year. And Tiger Woods certainly contributed to a very successful major. I played Bellrive and I thought it was a great, classic course. I am sure the members were not thrilled about playing on temporary greens, especially with the monthly dues they pay.

I'll take a different angle. Aside from the golf course being in excellent condition and the players putting on a show, I feel the on course fan experience was less than desirable. The ratio of fans to concession stands and water stops was terrible. Lines to get even waters were 100 deep with 45 minute waits during the hottest hours. Did they issue too many tickets or did they not plan accordingly? Enough with the featured groups. Makes seeing your top players very difficult. Lastly, cell networks were blown up and there was no way to know what was going on with the players you weren't directly watching. Other tournaments provide xm radio headsets for free. I'd even pay for it. Great watch on TV, but a let down as a spectator on property.

Really good article. What an entertaining weekend. And yes, Tiger was much watch though I am pleased for and highly impressed by Brooks. I hope that he does start to bring a similar focus to some other events. He should win several events per year.

Great article - it is not the course that is "outdated" but the USGA/R&A who have NOT adjusted to the ball technology thus allowing 400 yard drives.
There is a simple fix - make the ball 10% larger for the elite players

Nevertheless, the tournament was compelling golf 'theater" with so many high ranked players contending till the final hole.
Kerry Haigh got it right - let the players be the story!
