October golf in the United States means very different things for southern and northern golfers.
In the north, golfers race the falling leaves and temperatures in hopes for one last memorable round or shot.
In the south meanwhile, golfers begin to catch a break from the heat that has plagued them for several months. Suddenly golf is comfortable again and you don't need to keep a change of clothes in your car.
The top ten courses of the month according to users reflects this mix of southern and northen courses. From here until the spring, our rankings will be dominated by warm-weather locales. But it appears October was kind to golfers in the Midwest and northeastern states.
We compiled this list by examining reviews submitted by our members throughout the month. Courses needed at least four reviews to qualify.
