The Revere Golf Club in Henderson offers Las Vegas golfers 36 holes of golf paradise: The Lexington and The Concord

HENDERSON, Nev. -- Ahh, 18 holes of golf at a fabulous Las Vegas resort golf course. Does it get any better? Well, yes it does. How about playing 36 holes at The Revere Golf Club.

The Revere Golf Club is home to two 18-hole Billy Casper/Greg Nash layouts. And in a lot of places, players need to choose which course to play. But golfers can tee it up at both courses at The Revere -- The Lexington, and The Concord -- with the resort's 36-hole special. Whether it's on the same day or just twice during your trip, you can play both of these layouts for one price.

"These are two distinctly different golf courses," said Dennis Piekarski, director of sales and marketing. "The Concord is a course with a true desert feel with mountain views. The Lexington is more of a challenge with great elevation changes. Both courses will definitely appeal to any golfer."

The Revere Golf Club's Concord Course

On the Concord, players will find a very friendly course -- if they play the proper set of tees. The course reaches 7,069 yards. Now that may not seem like a lot, but from the tips the par 3s will certainly prove to be knee-knockers. The front nine par 3s (the fifth at 184 yards and the eighth at 174 yards) are the easy ones of the bunch compared with the back nine duo. Check out these numbers: The 12th is a monster at 241 yards and the 16th is just a little shorter at 225 yards.

But in general, players will find par 4s that won't require a wood to get home in two as well as par 5s that are reachable in two but offer alternatives and still give players the chance to put a birdie or two on the card.

"The biggest thing we want to stress is this course is a very forgiving layout," Piekarski said. "There are wide fairways with undulating greens, so you have to have your putter working."

While the par 3s will prove to be tough birdie opportunities, the par 5s will give players the chance for a birdie or two -- if they are played smartly. But it's No. 18 that will provide players one of the best closing holes -- both in view and challenge -- in Las Vegas.

The 18th stretches to 551 yards with players facing a drive over a lake to a fairway that narrows dramatically in the landing area with bunkers on either side. Carry it longer and players will face a shot from a downhill lie. A deep canyon fronts this narrow but wide green, and nine bunkers behind will raise havoc for those going long (bringing that canyon back into play out of the bunker … not a pleasant thought). The best play is to lay up short of the canyon and take aim at the flag with a wedge. It's certainly the smarter play, but we are in Vegas -- are you ready to gamble?

The Revere Golf Club's Lexington Course

Over on the Lexington, players will find severe elevation changes, stunning city views, risk/reward options and a top-notch layout covering 7,069 yards.

From start to finish, players will find challenging holes, but probably none better than the par-5 seventh. Playing 489 yards, "King's Chapel" is visually appealing and intimidating at the same time. The tee shot comes from an elevated tee while the approach shot (or third shot for those laying up) is into an elevated green. Arroyos, bunkers, a pond and a waterfall add to the beauty of this tough yet fair hole. Play it smartly and birdie is a definite possibility.

Mitchell Jackson, vacationing in Vegas from Florida, said there were many options that made The Revere a good choice for his outing.

"The views and the challenges really made for a great round of golf," he said of his round on The Lexington. "Most of the holes really make you think about each of your golf shots and that's always a good thing."

The Revere Golf Club: In the clubhouse

A wide variety of clothing, hats, shoes, clubs and those last-minute essentials (sunscreen, golf balls, ball markers) are right at your fingertips.

After the round, and especially around sunset, grab a bite to eat or a drink at Buckman's Grille and take in the best view of the Las Vegas Strip anywhere. Watch as the millions of lights come to life right before your eyes.

The Revere Golf Club: The verdict

No matter which of the two Revere courses players take on, they'll find a golf experience that will bring them back for more. But take our advice and play them both. The courses may be sister layouts, but their differing designs will present players with 36 holes of golf paradise. "Both courses are great experiences," Piekarski said. "You'll definitely want to come back.
