Many of you really liked last week's photos from the PGA Show.
But a lot of you also wanted to see what has now become a bit of a GVI tradition:
That is, my annual picks for some of the most off-the-wall products and pitches found on the Show floor.
This year's crop of inventors were especially, um, optimistic. Here are some things you just need to see to believe...
Please Note: The following are simply my initial (and admittedly snarky) reactions. These golf products may be the best in the world, so if you’re interested in learning more about (or buying) them, simply go to their listed websites.
I've seen some promising alternatives to traditional golf, but this isn't one of them. Instead of hitting the ball, the inventors of this "sport" expect you to take to the golf course with bows and golf ball-tipped arrows. I can't make this stuff up.
Stick on Cleats (stickoncleats.com)
Another year, another solution to the "problem" of not being able to play golf in the shoes you have on RIGHT NOW. Unlike other versions that strap on or fit over your street shoes, these simply stick onto the bottom. I'll say this: the name "Stick on Cleats" describes the product perfectly. Unfortunately, I can't see anyone ever buying this product.
Nice Shot Golf Gloves ( nice-shot.myshopify.com )
How do you take market share from the major glove makers? Apparently it's as simple as printing the words "Nice Shot" on specific glove fingers so you can really "express yourself" when flipping your playing partners the bird (or making other profane gestures). Call me crazy, but I think showing someone your middle finger is pretty clear on its own...and FootJoy's market share couldn't be safer.
Frankie Goes to Hollygolf (frankiegoestohollygolf.hk)
This women's golf clothing isn't half bad, but its name is so terrible on so many levels, I can't bring myself to say it out loud. It's a lame play on the mid-80s pop band called Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I wish this apparel upstart would have taken the advice from the music group's hit song: "Relax, don't do it."
What do you think of my list? Would you buy or try any of these?
