Tour the spectacular Top of the Rock Par 3 course at Big Cedar Lodge
Best par-3 course in the U.S.? 9-hole Top of the Rock at Big Cedar Lodge is certainly in the conversation. The course has the distinguished pleasure of hosting a yearly pro golf tournament, the PGA Tour Champions Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf, which features one round here and the rest on the Tom Fazio-designed Buffalo Ridge Springs course.
Top of the Rock's facility is one of the more unique in the world of golf. Not only is there the Jack Nicklaus-designed, showy par-3 course, but the driving range, full of bunkers, waterfalls and greens perched over cliffs, is a marvel as well. There is also a wonderful putting course designed by Tom Watson. Simply put, if you were ever going to introduce a beginner or youngster to the game, there probably isn't a better place in the world to get them excited.
The perch high in the Ozarks overlooks Table Rock Lake. The 2nd hole has the best view of the lake and features a 100-foot drop from tee to green. There are water carries, including the island-green 6th hole.
A freak sinkhole following heavy rains in 2015 left a permanent mark on the driving range. Crews have been excavating this new site ever since, but operations are back to normal.
Since May, 2015 until now, the sinkhole on Top of the Rock at @BigCedarLodge has become a limestone spectacle. pic.twitter.com/yh56t99jFI
